  1. That's the same as in Aft. Got no idea what a 'luxury' turn down service is. In fact at Easter we got less chocolates than other cabins. Maybe they ran out. When we first booked, pre covid & immediately after, Aft suites were supposed to be able to dine in suite from the speciality restaurants. It didn't happen. We were only allowed the MDR menu. At that time the mid suites weren't advertised as having a complimentary mini bar. We had a VSOP brandy that you couldn't get in the bars so we did have after dinner drinks on the balcony some warm nights.
  2. It was during Covid rules so everyone had a private car. Sorry, I'd forgotten that.
  3. A couple we met from north Northumberland got Saga to collect them the previous day & they stayed at a Premier Inn in Southampton at there own expense. It was December & they were worried about problems on the motorways. Having done that journey at that time of year many times I would have requested the same.
  4. When we started sailing with Saga 20 years ago formal nights were very formal & they had an extra dress code that meant men had to wear lounge suits. Smart casual nights were as rare as hen's teeth. Now on smart casual OH often wears a polo shirt when we dine in the grill. On formal night one half of the Grill isn't formal. If they don't think you are dressed up enough you will get seated there. We always dress up for dining in the speciality restaurants whatever the dress code is that day.
  5. Forgot to say they have champagne breakfasts sometimes. If you are interested it will be on the programme for the day which the steward leaves the previous evening. The butler doersn't bring a glass. No idea if he would because alcohol at breakfast wipes me out for the day. Also if you want fresh orange just write fresh next to where you tick for juice.
  6. Yes, the butler will bring anything from the dining room menu. Only thing missing is no way to find out the special of the day. You just write want you want & hang the breakfast order on the door before going to bed.
  7. Sorry I have only just seen this. We have been in the Aft suites 3 times. There's a problem for me with the very aft ones on A deck when it is designated the smoking area as you can sometimes smell the smoke. The butlers are always looking to do more for us than we can think of. We've dined in the cabin a couple of times & we almost always have breakfast in the cabin. Before the premium spirits were included you could get the butler to get a couple of them for your mini bar.
  8. Have a great time. I used the WiFi in Barbados, so did everyone else so it was VERY slow. One of the crew told me they have a 'trick' to make it faster but wouldn't let me in on the secret. It was Christmas 2021 & one of the Queens was at anchor. Apparently coming into port at night to take Covid patients on board. That was the cruise when a woman was using video calling in the Britannia Lounge.
  9. That's what I suggested they did in my mid cruise survey.
  10. Oh! I hadn't thought of the NHS app. Luckily ours was OK when we had to use it to get new covid passes.
  11. So I was blocked but you weren't? I went to reception & they said it had been blocked for everyone. Now I'm getting paranoid.
  12. Thank you. They must have taken notice of my comments on the mid cruise survey. I hope they've also taken note of my comment about the lack of choice of lager. 😉 Hope you are enjoying your short cruise.
  13. Sorry, I should have said I'm very sorry you have had to cancel & I hope your health condition improves.
  14. Saga really don't like dealing with Agents. In 2020 we had a cruise booked for May that year. The offers via the agent (1st & only time I haven't booked direct) were nowhere as good as when Saga rang me to discuss options a few days later. We took Saga's options but they then had to communicate via the Agent. It was messy & I will never book Saga via an Agent again. As an aside when we did a Scenic River Cruise I wished I'd booked direct.
  15. I think they are using some sort of blocker they don't need to use. Twitter can contain video though. I suggested to them they allowed access but blocked the streaming & video contact. Honestly I don't think they are very techie. A tiny update of an App takes seconds, sometimes less than a second. It's my major gripe at them. They do get most things right.
  16. That's a good plan. I get about 10gb of data, unlimited texts & 300 mins calls when I top up with £10 pm but EE doesn't include EU roaming anymore. Also I want to use Apps on our iPads. It was on the iPad I had the Candy Crush problem.
  17. Thanks. We are booked on excursions so not sure we'll have time to go into the centre as well. I'm just trying to plan ahead so that if an App fails because it needs to be updated, as happened with Candy Crush last cruise, I know which ports have easy access.
  18. When we were on Adventure in April Saga had blocked access to WhatsApp as well as Twitter & the AppStore. I understand why, on a previous cruise a passenger was in the Britannia Lounge using it to video call her family. 🤬 The crew always seem to know how to get access in all of the cruise terminals but they never seem to want to share the information. I am trying to be prepared before next month's trip & am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction for the info. Our first port is Gibraltar & I've already drawn a blank as info I've found says there is no public WiFi in the treminal. I would be really grateful for any general tips. TIA Jill
  19. In the Sapphire & Pearl 2 Days they would arrange a 'special menu' party in the Ward room if asked to. I had a birthday on Adventure's inaugral cruise around Britain. I asked them to keep it quiet but the cabin was decorated when we got back from the day's excursion. That way a lovely surprise. We had our 25th WA on Saga Rose & if those days they would gather round the dining table & sing to you. We found that VERY enbarassing.
  20. On our last cruise there was a 20 something accompanying a wheelchair user plus a professional carer. I presume the young lady was the disabled lady's granddaughter.
