  1. The problem with tipping in cash is those tips dont get shared evenly, just the person who interacts with you directly. It takes a lot of people for that one waiter to bring you a drink, he/she doesnt go make the drink, clean the glasses, buss the tables (sometimes) etc. Apply this to your rooms and other tips, unless you go around asking who all helped make this drink and tip each one, if you remove prepaids you are shortchanging people. (Yes i know, bars add a prepaid per drink, just an example, choose MDR or WJ as other examples)
  2. We just got off Anthem a couple of weeks ago, and our 5:00 early dining time was in Silk, which is normally a MTD venue. Every night we walked up and walked in past long lines of both reservation and no reservation MTD diners. I never ever want to do MTD. The Windjammer on Anthem is super nice, and we ate there one night due to getting back to ship later than our 5pm dining time. Didnt regret it at all. MTD is a failure as currently implemented. The App should let you reserve your time AND tell you your table so you just walk straight to it if you have a reservation. Then MTD might be ok. As it is now, its a nightmare.
  3. All they need to link you is your name, reservation number and sail date. They really need more protection on linking.
  4. If you click through you can see, you select it on next page before you complete transaction, will tell you the price. I was lucky when i got 24 for $33. Not sure i could buy it for that price at home
  5. This. Either party of a linked reservations can do all kinds of things for both reservations. Our cruise 2 weeks ago I was able to see all their reservations, do their health check ins and put in their check in info and upload their photos.
  6. Keep in mind you can get good deals on bottled water too. On our cruise 2 weeks ago we were lucky to preorder 24 1L bottles of Evian for $33.99 And we just did that for convienance since the water from all taps on the ship are pretty pure, much cleaner than municipal water supplies, only affected by the age of the piping on the ships, and even then, that piping only has clean water go through it.
  7. Last week during spring break it was 2700 for overwater 2500 for land
  8. Got off Anthem last week, spring break cruise, tons of people wanting the soft serve. I am SO GLAD it was crew serving it. It went fast and no mess and no people doing strange creations. Just quick cones with swirl if wanted.
  9. Yep - It was amazing how quickly the weather said "hold my beer". I saw sunlight two times and had sudden hope, only to have it crushed, heh. Glad they gave you OBC for the daybeds, we didnt ask for the cabana, cause even though it was the Thrillwater park tent version, it worked really well for us and our attendant was really great (Trainee on his second day, but did awesome, thanks Alejandro)
  10. There is an offer going now for up to $700 off, 60% off second guest, and kids sale free. But apparently those offers do not apply to all cruises. Is there anyway to filter for just the KSF cruises without clicking on each one?
  11. Younger comedian still tightening their sets are generally the best. They are doing a cruise for the experience and practice. Older comedians are doing it to get a gig anyway they still can often, or as an easy payday, and they end up making the same jokes the CD's make. The guy the past week on anthem was offensive too, not in a "comedians push the envelope" way, but in the "cheap laugh insulting others" way. (Called a woman Hellen Keller for not responding to him when he asked a question, while there was an ASL interpreter in the front row interpreting for someone, just showing his age)
  12. It probably was, but we paid for the cabana and they werent refunding due to 70 deg and on/off rain. Originally (day before pulling in there) it was supposed to be 80, light rain 8-10am, then sunny. That changed badly.
  13. The comedian on Anthem this past week wasnt very good. He seemed to resent having to do a PG version of his show initially and during the wrapup finale night.
  14. We were sorta prepared for the rain, but the rain and 70 deg and high winds all added up to too much. 8yo son got chilled badly (kids never know when they are too cold) and he and I went back to ship early while wife and 11yo daughter stayed behind at cabana. All in all still a good day, but as my son said, A not so perfect day at cococay.
  15. After the Coast Guard helo pickup, 30 min later we heard another Alpha call, we all groaned. Dont get us wrong, we are glad they support folks like that, but on a ship with 4200+ passengers, plus crew, the odds are you will have an alpha call or more during a cruise.
  16. Just wanted to share, it was 70 degrees, raining or misting all day long, and strong winds. This was on Anthem of the Seas during a Spring Break. We had the Thrillpark cabana, and I am so glad we did because they actually ran out of dry towels on the island, everyone was lining up by the replenishment trucks to change out. We managed to stay out the whole day due to the Cabana, but we thought we would be glad for it due to shade, not the fact it let us stay dry when we needed. The chill factor was extreme though due to the low temperature, constant wetness, and high winds. Zipline down, no balloon flights (of course) and standing in line on the towers took a good measure of your dedication since the higher you went up the colder you got due to more wind. Not blaming RCL of course, but the third time we heard "It hasnt rained here in a month" we were getting pretty annoyed <grin> So if you are going back and forth on a cabana, do it if the price is close to right for you, it might save your day in other ways than you thought.
  17. We got lucky, had a departure number of 12, so got off at 8:15 (said 8:45 but they go as fast as they can) and our luggage was in area 12, and straight out to parking garage.
  18. We had to do a medevac at the entrance to Chesapeake Bay by the Coast Guard, and this resulted in us now arriving one hour late tomorrow morning, such that all departure times are pushed by one hour
  19. I hope your arrival time and disembarkation time isnt affected, I read your start of cruise and the delay really seems to wreck havok with the drive/parking. Live about 45m from the terminal, so driving in tomorrow.
  20. We have an 8yo boy and 11 yo girl for our cruise starting tomorrow (Anthem of the Seas) We plan to stop by first thing and register them with the club, but what do they do actually? Is there a separate activities schedule for the Adventure Ocean clubs? I know they will be in different age groups (which will probably make them happy) and we expect the clubs to be packed as this is a spring break cruise out of NJ. But what do they do each day (sea days mostly)? Do they just go up there and have fun on their own? Is there preplanned staff monitored activities (scavenger hunts, etc)? There doesnt seem to be a lot of detail. Should we expect, if they like it, for them to disappear till the time we tell them to be back? I know in the evening there is baby sitting, and we arent looking for that during the day, but will they stay engaged at the AO? I do see the Science lab open one afternoon on the main activities list, but nothing that says AO or some such tag indicating its kids club activities. Thanks for any info?
  21. Please bring my ship back now. I have to get on it Sunday morning. You have had it long enough now! <grin>
  22. Its not impossible to have 3 ships, one would have to either dock outboard another and disembark across the other, or tender in. Either way, 3 ships there would make for a miserable day at Cococay (vice the Perfect day that is already strained with 2 full ships). And this is spring break.
  23. This is what sold us, the "Access to the fast lane at onboard activities", but when we found out its just private times at off hours, we cancelled. If it had been like fast pass at Disney, that made it more worth it to us. It really is false advertising, because it doesnt say "or" it says "and" private times.
  24. How do you sleep with your apple watch? Thats my recharge for next day time. When do you recharge?
