Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. #15196 was not available 1/17/25, so we will be in #11812. Probably a bit more obstructed view but nothing we can't live with considering all the other positives. I got the impression that the SJs are already about sold out. The Missus loves these suites and that is good enough for me. We will be sailing on Getaway in October in Club suite with larger balcony, M6. It will be interesting to see how well she survives in the smaller quarters with no concierge.
  2. SJ, in my limited opinion, is a great room. On some decks the slide might be more of an obstruction than others but the additional room with the separate bedroom with king bed far, far outweighs the view. Additionally, it is kind of nice to receive a bit of pampering. Already looking to repeat #15196 on Prima next January.
  3. We brought three bottles just to drink in the room/on the balcony. Two bubble wrapped in luggage that was checked and and one in a backpack, so it really wasn't any real burden. Drank the dry rose' and the white, brought the red back home. Your tiny fridge may not hold more than two sparklers unless you remove the door rack.

  5. Ship - Prima Deck - 15 Stateroom # - 15196 Stateroom Category – SJ Family Suite with Separate Master Starboard or Port Side - Port, slightly aft Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – There were children next door so they occasionally made themselves known but not really a bother. Other than the occasional man made noises, it was very quiet. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Excellent views from the railing especially forward and straight out. Aft view was somewhat obstructed by the slide but it didn't bother us/ Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Huge balcony...2 chairs, 2 loungers, and a small table. Nice privacy nook at bedroom door where the loungers were located. Was wind a problem? - None other than the expected breeze while underway. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nada! What's to complain about in a spacious cabin with concierge service. Any other comments? - Would book this cabin again. Concierge and Butler were great. Bed was very comfy. Love the two thermostats for the two rooms. Right by the entrance to the Haven and the elevators are nearby but not so close as to be heard
  6. Good to know for the future. Yep, Richard and Winston treated us right.
  7. SJ 15196, port side Prima, is a great room. The slide is no problem at all but for decks 12-14 it looked to be more of an obstruction. The starboard side with the two slides looked to be a bit more problematic. Loved the big balcony. Our concierge and butler were both very attentive and available. They may not answer your call but expect a call back within 10 minutes or so. Karen, the greeter at Cagney's is a ray of sunshine.
  8. WOW! I guess I am glad I just got home from my first ever cruise, thus, I have no historical data to compare against my week on Prima. So I will relate my experience against a couple of things that I heard about in the weeks prior to boarding. The continual and relentless announcements to buy this or that such as photos etc. I spent most of my time on board, just a couple of hours walking around to stretch my legs while in port and I heard maybe a handful of announcements. Certainly not enough to bother me and I was listening for them. The nickel and dimeing thing. I expected to see numerous instances for additional charges but I didn't pay extra for anything other than what I already knew carried an additional charge. The $15 bar limit was more than generous as I found their drinks, wines and beers to be quite in line (price wise) with any nice bar in San Antonio. I did not encounter one crew member that was not smiling and was willing to go out of their way to accommodate me. But, not everything was perfect. I always wondered how they could store and prepare all of that food to mouthwatering perfection and the answer is: they can't. My dinner at Cagney's was lackluster (good service though). Le Bistro was better but nothing memorable (great service again). In summary, I guess I am glad I didn't have the "good old days" in my memory and I certainly don't doubt that on some ships things have degraded more than on others but my experience on Prima was really good; I am already researching for my next NCL trip later this year. However, I must admit, I hear the siren song of Oceania calling me in the not too distant future. Happy trails to all!
  9. We never had to wait more than a few minutes to get a bartender's attention last week on Prima.
  10. We were there last week and was disappointed that Summer was NOT performed. However, the shows, especially Rumors, in Sid Normans were really good. Did not see any cookies. Cagneys was ok but not quite up to our standards of home or Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris. I think keeping meat for a week and having to cook for so many folks is probably a very difficult task. Le Bistro was best meal for the week. Indulge can get very busy right around noon, especially on sea days. Enjoy!!
