  1. Not sure you are correct on Houston.

    Yes, it is.

  2. crucon.com has the best Black Friday Sales. I've booked cruises with them the last 3 years and received great deals with 3 different cruise lines, RCCL, Princess, and Celebrity.

I don't think the OP means whether to book a cruise Black Friday. They means sales in shops on ships.

  3. Please correct me if I'm wrong.....was told that the AIBP was not good in Vines??? Thank you.

The AIBP is definitely 100% good at Vines. It's where you'll find us most evenings.

Also some things to think about with the AIPB:

You don't have to order bottles of wine at dinner you still can get glasses. You have the AIBP....why buy a bottle? We bring in glasses from Vines. If you are a wine drinker, the AIBP is a no brainer. Yes drinking $50 a day of $5 beers would be tough. But drinking $50 in $10 glasses of wine is not too hard. How about a port after dinner? Done.

People make the mistake of only thinking "alcoholic" beverages. The IC has much more than just coffee and espresso. We love the Raspberry Pomegranate Splash with soda in the afternoon. And the tea selection is good. Don't forget that shakes are included in this too at Scoops. We had never tried either before the AIBP, felt like a waste of $4.50. But now we can experiment.

OP is right about water. We like what we call "room water" for the day and night. We pick up a large bottle every day and take it to the room. We tell our steward at the beginning of the cruise to not but any bottles or cans in the fridge as we don't need it.

  4. Kerfuffle on the HAL board. Apparently HAL is supposed to make some big announcement next week. People who fancy themselves in the know have postulated that it will include:

"what we were told by a good source a while back was that HAL's future plans are not going to go over big with long time high day Mariners .. they were also trying to work out a plan combining HAL Mariner days with Princess and Seaborne--all in the HAL group.." They are also postulating that all the lines will be headquartered together in Seattle and that the lines will lose their individuality. The hardline HAL cruisers lament that Princess seems to be driving changes in Carnival Corp as a whole, not necessarily Carnival Cruise Lines.

So. . .it this is true, who's going to lose out here. . .Five-Star Mariners or Elites?

My guess....that's way too corporate to be an exciting announcement from HAL.

    HAL announcement guess....Cuba.

  5. Well actually Grand Princess is at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. Clearly seen on the webcam. Pretty big ship for you natives not to keep track of.

ETA: well if other posters confirm she is in Long Beach maybe she is. The San Pedro webcam definitely shows a Princess ship there right now. But the website with the port calendars for both have no cruise ships in either today.

It took me a bit of Princess decoding to figure this one out too. We're on a Coastal next year R/T San Francisco and it says it stops in "Los Angeles (Long Beach) California". I figured they meant San Pedro but they don't.

It appears on coastals they stop in Long Beach, yes actual Long Beach, where Carnival docks. They use San Pedro for embarkation and disembarkation but not port stops. It actually makes sense. There is nothing at all at San Pedro but Long Beach would be an easy walk downtown.

  6. Another 30 days and another Elite benefit thread....or has it even been that long since the last one?

    More of the same.

I'm special, you're not, now Princess what are you going to do for ME?

  7. We find ourselves without any FCC's but are interested in a spring cruise. We'll be on the CB in a month or so time and will buy more.

Question: If I book the spring cruise now and pay the deposit without FCC's can I apply my newly acquired FCC's in a month or so there by getting the OBC? Don't need a refund of the deposit, I just want the OBC.
