What about Hyatt Centric? Is that one in a relatively safe area? We just booked it for our January cruise.

While we are on this topic. Do I have to hold the stock for certain time before becoming eligible to get the credit or can I buy today and submit tomorrow for the credit? JB

I always try to board as early as possible. Then swing by the pool, grab a stack of towels. I then run around the ship placing a towel on everything I want to reserve for myself during the cruise. JB

We stayed at Crowne Plaza in September 2024 and had ours delivered to the hotel. We used Total Wine, but Safeway delivers too. Had trouble with Safeway's website. It didn't want to take my credit card. Probably because it was from out of state. The delivery charge was nominal, and I think they even waived it since we bought so much. There were 4 of us. Just had to tip the driver. Were able to get wine, sodas and water. Ordered about 3-4 weeks in advance online and it all arrived on time to the hotel.

A repeat performance by mentalist/illusionist Julien Losa. Mr. Losa was introduced as the resident on board magician. He performed a spectacular act on day 5 and never appeared again. The implication was that he is a regular crew member. Recall that this was a 14 day cruise. So he disappeared? He is a magician. It's what they do. 😂 The principal enrichment speaker, after the third sea day. Pat McCormack was lined up to speak on each of the five sea days but vanished after three lectures. The Magician made him vanish. 😁

Seattle airport hotel with reliable shuttle?
jbooth2099 replied to Jetswdo's topic in West Coast Departures
We did Crowne Plaza 2 weeks ago. Nice hotel, decent bar/restaurant. Shuttle was prompt and drivers were helpful. -
We rented from Hertz at the airport last week. Was able to book when we docked, take a cab to the airport ($35 one way) and be on our way. We had reserved a car using the Turo app and paid extra to have it delivered to the port. Joemilo cancelled on us the night before we docked in Juneau, so found out about it when we were leaving the ship once I had Internet service. JB

We rented a car from Icy Strait Lodge on our recent cruise. Had a good time looking for bears out in the woods on logging roads. Did not see any bears, but was able to answer the question. The answer is: No. They do it on the dirt road and then hide when you drive by. Super nice folks to deal with at the Icy Strait Lodge. They gave us a map and a can of bear spray and pointed us in the right direction to seek bears. https://icystraitlodge.com/car-rentals JB

First time as Diamond question
jbooth2099 replied to toxicfairy's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are Coal on this trip coming up, which I assume is Pre-Diamond. We were told to wait in the parking lot until everyone else gets on board and then we will be let on once we clear inspection for lice.- 66 replies

Would you PAY for towel animals?
jbooth2099 replied to LMaxwell's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are soon to be "Cardboard" with RCL. I sent my wife to a towel folding class on one of our Carnival cruises. Here is what she learned. This is a dog, an elephant and a cat wearing sunglasses. -
PAYING for Pizza in Sorrento’s
jbooth2099 replied to Slidell_Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are "Tin Foil" on RCL and I have read the banned items list twice. It does not specifically say "no pizza ovens", so we bought this for our next cruise. We will get some frozen pizzas and pack them in our carry-on. -
No "free" lobster night sailing on a 6-night cruise?
jbooth2099 replied to NC State's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Since you are not getting your lobster, I guess that means I can have 2 on my cruise. It is 7 days. -
Had planned to take a taxi until I stumbled on a car share app yesterday. It is called Turo and looks legit. I rebooked with Marcos to rent his 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Saved about $90 on the rental itself and he will drop it off near the dock, or leave it near the dock with a keybox and code. When done, I just park it in that area and will come get it. Drop-off cost me $40, which is still cheaper than roundtrip cab ride as I understand it. JB

We like to carry a couple of bottles of wine on board. It gives us something to drink while we wait in ine to board. JB

Simple solution to the chair hogs issue. We are sailing Sept. 4th on Quantum. Some friends of ours are the cruise right before ours. I am having them put my towels and some magazines down on 4 chairs next to the pool right when they get off the ship so the chair hogs wont get them before I get there. JB

Anyone get wine delivered to your hotel room near SEATAC. Flying in the day before the cruise, and want to order online and have it brought to the hotel. Total Wine website says they will do it. There are 4 of us, so 4 bottles should be worth the delivery fee? JB

Large rock throws wrench into Skagway’s cruise ship schedule

How does one train to be a rock watcher? -
Can you drive up to the top of the mountain and see the view or do they make you buy tickets to get into that area? JB

We rented a car the last time we were there a few years ago. From what I can tell, the only place to get a car now is from the airport which is about a $25 cab ride as I understand it. We met a another couple from our ship at the rental counter as we took the last car. We invited them to come with us since there were no more cars. Turned out they had the same last name as us and were from Texas as well. We had a good time. The car was handy to get to the glacier and do some riding around, but ultimately got in way after that. Hard to find parking near the other stuff we wanted to do and ended up walking anyway. Thinking this year, we will just do the bus and save the effort. JB
