Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I just booked a 17-night cruise to Australia departing from Honolulu on October 1, 2024 and ending in Sydney. Celebrity Solstice / balcony cabin / single occupancy about $2800, including tax and gratuities (not including flights, wifi, drinks, or excursions). Booked online directly with Celebrity. Ports ... Honolulu (Oahu), Hawaii / Moorea, French Polynesia / Papeete, Tahiti / Raiatea, French Polynesia / Auckland, New Zealand / Bay Of Islands, New Zealand / Sydney, Australia. Definitely not a cheap cruise but I think it’s a good deal.
  2. You need to request a "Route Deviation" if you wish to disembark early. I don't have any experience with disembarking early in Quebec but I'm disembarking a day early from my Princess (British Isles) cruise next month. Because I booked my cruise through a TA, my TA contacted Princess and requested the "Route Deviation" for me, which was approved. My travel buddy (also disembarking early) booked directly through Princess so she had to request the Route Deviation directly through Princess (also approved). It only took a day or two before we received our approval letters but I was advised to submit the request well ahead of time.
  3. Perhaps do some lurking on the Cruise Critic roll calls for each of your preferred itineraries to see if there are any solos that are active on the thread. Roll Calls are a great place to learn about any private tours that have space available, too.
  4. @Jinn, @Keith1010, Thank you for the advice. It's good to know there will likely be plenty to keep me occupied during many simultaneious sea days.
  5. I wouldn't worry about being lonely. I've cruised solo before and found it very easy to meet people, both solos and non-solos. It helps if there's some type of ongoing agreement for solos to meet in a specific lounge at a specific time before dinner if they want company. The roll calls are good for making that kind of initial arrangement. I'm considering two segments of the WC (San Diego > Tahiti > Auckland) but I'm concerned about so many sea days. How do you keep occupied during those long stretches of sea days?

  7. I would but we're not allowed to post anything except solo cruise deals on this thread. Sorry.
  8. I did an entire mock booking and got the same $1538 price for a solo balcony cabin (center, deck 7). I actually put a 24 hour hold on it and am now researching flights. Thanks for the great lead!
  9. P&O has two ships that are only for adults ... Arcadia and Aurora. I believe the rest of their fleet is family friendly.
  10. Thank you for the tip! I stopped by Grocery Outlet in Sacramento this morning and picked up three bottles each of the Crystal C Cab and Chard (no Merlot or Pinot on the shelf). I plan to taste them this evening and let the winos in my family know what I think. We're all wine snobs but love to find good locally produced wine at bargain prices.
  11. New York to Quebec with a stop at Saint Anthony. It would replace my cancelled cruise on now defunct Crystal.
  12. We disembarked the Panorama on April 30, 2022. People carrying off their own luggage got off the ship before passengers who checked their luggage. We were carrying off our luggage and were instructed to wait for our muster station to be called sometime after 9:15 am. The gangway was mid-ship on deck 4 but no one was allowed to wait on deck 4. It appeared that we docked in Long Beach a bit early so we waited on deck 5 until our muster station (B4) was called at 8:15 am (an hour earlier than expected). We were off the ship and in our car by 8:30 am. Everyone had to be off the ship by 10:45 am.
