Nope. Will not go on the ocean to be in an apartment with no privacy. I go on a cruise to see the ports we are pulling up to and the ocean. Why have a balcony where you have to close your blinds all the time. 

It would be sold out if it is not there. You will pay more if it opens up on board.

Find cabins near you that have the line through them showing they are connecting. Place yourself looking at doors. The door on right will be bed near balcony door on left is bed near bathroom. This is on all Oasis class ships.

Its ok. I wouldn’t say fantastic. Basically it’s just better than the chaos of Windjammer

Really just depends on the sailing. In the summer it is going to get very hot and humid but right now will be hit or miss depending on the outside temperature. 

My favorite place. Stay away from the vendor area. We love getting off ship around 2-3 pm when everyone is getting back on board. It’s like heaven. I hate coco cay. It’s more like Disney. 

Everyone is on vacation so we don’t care if you have wrinkles. Those dressy days are over too. Well some still go all out, not us.

Note, this will be what I call our Starter Cruise, since we've never gone.   So everything will be new to us on the ship.  I've been to all the major ports that a Galveston cruise would visit, and the family has been to none.  So all are equally interesting.  

I will be really interested to hear if the upcoming cruise mentioned that has sea days has laser tag.  Sea-Day-only makes sense.  

 

Right now the ship is in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  So it was a great cruise to go on for the southern Caribbean ports. Once it goes to the main land it will be different. You will have to wait to hear.

This cruise is all about the destinations not the ship. If you wanted all the kids stuff you need to book an oasis class ship. 

No laser tag but we didn’t have any seas days. So if you have a sea day maybe it does.

He gets diamond benefits with me. Without me his points are not high enough. 

You get whatever points she has when married.

I am diamond therefore my husband is diamond when traveling with me. If he travels without me he doesn’t get diamond benefits. So he has points of his own and married points

Food was good in MDR. Not great but good. 
windjammer is another story. First I hate all Windjammers and buffets in general. The lunch had little to know meat. Of course unless you want a hockey puck burger. The one thing that sucks about voyager is there are no places to eat for lunch except the Windjammer. 
pizza was not great. Dining room is open for breakfast everyday, so we either did that or paid for the room service breakfast.

No we went with Spencer and it was awesome. U go by boat to baths and waterfall so you beat all those taking the tour in vans. It was so nice being on the water all day not sitting in a van 1/2 a day

All the companies you research on trip advisors are not going to be late. You understand that their money is made by tourism and cruise tourism is huge. They would go under if they were late. There are tons of tours you can read up on and their ratings. You don’t have to be worried

Getting on is always quick on oasis. We are always on at 11. We buy the UDP so lunch is at any specialty open on boarding day. Last day we always go to park cafe and eat a late breakfast. Usually walk off ship at 9:30. Chops with key is a small menu served in dining room on first day. Not the same as chops for sure. Royal loves the key, it’s a great way for them to make money on the newbie’s.

I travel oasis class around 4-5 times a year. I live in south Florida. It’s very easy to get on line and reserve your time to board. Pick earliest time and you are on like 5 min after key. That easy. Shows you still have to show up early. They open up all seats 10 min before shows. The times they give you for activities is a time know one would be on anyways. It’s a complete waste. But most first time cruisers and newbies don’t know 

Not worth getting the key. It’s crazy people spend all that money pp for it. So you get an hour of certain activities during the week. The times they give you are usually when no one would be there anyways. You do realize you can buy one internet and all share. Or the more internet packages you buy the cheaper it gets. I would not consider it unless you are solo. A waste of money in my opinion.

Not worth it at all. Usually 2 ships in port and you are just standing in line all day. I used to love Coco back in the day, now I just find it a Disney park. I live in south Florida. I go on a cruise to enjoy the beautiful islands, not to go to an overcrowded playground. 

I have Cosol tours booked but am seeing amazing reviews from Stewart Ambrose tours too. Cosol is mostly by land and Stewart is mostly sea. Anyone been on either?

We are Diamond+ who book in suites with this being our first time on an Oasis class ship. We were looking forward to experiencing a large ship and the new Galveston terminal. First, the terminal and onsite parking (North lot) was outstanding. A very smooth arrival and departure experience. The check-in process was fairly flawless and took no more than 10 mins before we were onboard with the staff being friendly and helpful. We found the ship to be very well maintained and overall, the staff were very polite, helpful and accommodating. We had outstanding service from the staff in the Suite Lounge/Coastal Kitchen (Mohammad, Auston, Carlos, Mario, TJ, and Jespen) Solarium Bar (Grace and Lenin), and the specialty restaurants which for this cruise was Chops, 150 Park, and Giovannis. The interiors were attractive and well maintained, though we found the combined suite lounge and Coastal Kitchen space was to open and think some separation of the two would work better. Appreciated the fact that they have a full bar serving from 11am-11pm and you could get a Mimosa or glass of Champagne in the morning for breakfast. In the cases of Chops, 150 Park, and Giovannis we found the food to be very good with adequate, flavorful portions of all the dishes (in some cases we could not finish all of it as we were very satisfied). We found Izumi to be noisy due to the hibachi section and the food not quite at the level of our previous times dining there. We did not dine at the other specialty restaurants. 

 

As usual, the pizza at Sorentos was not good with the toppings being quite sparse and the slices being only warm. The Solarium Grill was acceptable, particularly the omelet and carving stations at breakfast. We only ate there once as we had the Coastal Kitchen, which we found the food there for breakfast and lunch to be good. We tried to get room service one evening, but multiple calls were not picked up or were disconnected. 

 

Our Owners suite was spacious (large interior and balcony space with enough room for two lounge chairs and a table with four chairs) kept very clean and the room attendant (Acep) provided friendly, outstanding service. 

 

On the downside for us, the size of the ship, the amount of people (almost 6000 people on this cruise), and unruly children and oblivious parents. To include those who were not aware of the rules in the Solarium (adults/16+ only) or chose to ignore them as they brought in school age children and younger in strollers, which included during Solarium Grill for breakfast) and the staff did not engage with them about the rules. We found the same issue in the Suite Lounge with some children being well behaved, but some not being managed by their parents who allowed them to run around and loud, again, the staff did not engage with those parents about their children in what is for the most part an adult area. 

 

So, bottom line we most likely will not cruise Oasis class again and will remain with the other classes of RC ships and with Celebrity (more and more). In filling out the RC survey I shared all of the above and urged them to bring Celebrity into the new Galveston terminal, which we heard from an RC source at the Terminal and another guest onboard that is planned to happen, but they did not know the timetable. 

Solarium bistro is not adult only. 

No need for the key. You can purchase one internet and share.
