For some context on why the current people on board are more than frustrated, including myself. They cancelled our day at CocoCay at 9:30am once everyone was dressed and ready to go. They announced that people who booked excursions would be credited but that’s about it. It wasn’t until we had to go to the guest service desk the next day that we found out we were credited for the day missed via OBC. No clear communication was provided for this.
We had HORRIBLE weather the remainder of that day in terms of ship rockiness, which I get isn’t RCLs fault.
Next, they have cancelled several activities without notice. Laser tag today was cancelled despite people making reservations and sliding under the stars was cancelled and never announced.
On day 3 the internet stopped working entirely at around 3ish. The internet was very spotty the day prior but not completely out. Upon noticing the internet outage we went to guest services. They instructed us to wait at the Voom desk until 4 when they would open. There was a mass of people gathered there per the instructions of guest services. At about 3:45 someone showed up berating us and telling us there’s no reason to wait as the internet is down. They stated they’re on the phone with IT via satellite trying to resolve the issue. Again, lack of communication from RCL as we following guest services instructions and were berated by another crew member for following said instructions.
Let’s fast forward to yesterday. I heard the Alpha call at 10/10:30am. At around 12/12:30pm we were back in the room watching the map of the ships location and I said to my husband we’re going to the wrong way, we’re making a U-Turn. He saw it and asked if I wanted to call guest services. I said no, let’s wait. It wasn’t until 3:30/4pm that they made an announcement about going to San Juan. Again, more lack of communication. Now for today, it was not until 12:30ish that we got the message that we wouldn’t be arriving to PC until 4:30am. Almost 24 hours without any sort of update or ETA of what’s going on.
People have lives outside of this vacation. While I understand medical emergencies are not planned and I feel horrible for that family, a lot of us are now in tough spots. I have to call my job and let them know that I won’t be in Monday, after taking a week off. Some employers don’t care and people will lose their jobs. The same goes for when the internet went down days before the holiday when people were working and students were taking exams. RCL really needs to do better, especially on the Wonder. The lack of communication is absolutely disgusting, especially when they boast about how great the customer service is.

Ports can be cancelled often because of bad weather. It’s not like they thought ok let’s make everyone be ready for their day at Coco and cancel. They actually look at weather and seas and hope they can make it happen. Sometimes they can sit for hours and then let you get off because it clears up. Don’t know why you would wait in line for internet when obviously you know it’s down. I am sure the captain did not know how delayed the ship would be delayed until after he is back out sea under way. Whether the got in at 4 or 7 pm on Sunday, you can assume there will be know flights on Thanksgiving weekend, therefore you could assume you would not be going to work. You are flying during the busiest time of year so if you think you could lose your job because you couldn’t be there Monday you don’t choose a Sunday cruise. Chill relax and enjoy an extra sea day.

We're taking a chance on the Key on our upcoming Voyager sailing.  We were planning on getting internet anyway and got the Key for just a little more, we have a tender port, like going to the shows, and embarkation/debarkation in San Juan the last time we sailed was chaos so I'm hoping this helps 🙂. If not, we're not out all that much more and got a decent breakfast and lunch in the process.

No tender port. I would never buy key as it is not needed.

So I booked another cruise for next year leaving out of Port canaveral. We normally drive to Florida and it is about a 11 hour drive from our city. We are considering flying this time because the drive is just too tiring. This would be our first time flying to Orlando so if we fly into Orlando what are the options for transportation  from Orlando to the port? If we did uber or lyft what should we expect for cost for a family of four? Any suggestions for flying to the port?

Uber is Approximately $85 for xl each way. Some people rent a car and drop off in canaveral as well.

  4. Labadee is amazing compared to coco. Do not go to the vendor area on Labadee that is it. Coco is a Disney park. When I’m on the Caribbean I want to be in a Caribbean island, not Disney. We get off the ship around 2 o’clock when everyone else is getting back on the ship. We enjoy 3 hours all on Columbus cove  with few people. Doesn’t even compare to Coco. I liked coco back before it turned to a Disney park.

  5. Not worth it at all. Everyone in cabin has to pay for the key. You get one lunch in main dining room on first day. Yes the windjammer is a Buffet. I never step foot in buffet as it is chaos to me. If on an oasis class ship go to park cafe first day for lunch. Get salad and sandwiches and quiet. We always buy the unlimited dining package and we can go to Jamie’s or Giovanni‘s for lunch for lunch the first day. You still have to get reservations for shows. You just have a section for key guest. You still need to arrive fairly early. You can buy the Internet package for one person and share or buy multiple packages under one name and it’s cheaper. The key is really only good for solo cruisers. The extra time they give you on flow rider, or a zip lining, is a joke. It’s only offered 1-2 times for the week and a time you wouldn’t want to go. No oasis class ship has a tender port. Ok they take your carryons and put in your cabin, big deal you are eating at that time and cabins open at 1. Just not worth it at all.

Can you take the free tram from the ship and stay on round trip back to ship without getting off, if all you want to do is see part of the island that the tram goes to????

Yes. Not much to see. Like 10 min. Just goes to beach at resort and back.

I paid $207.99/person for the dining package for a 7 night cruise on symphony. My experience with dining on the ship so far is that the specialty restaurants are nice,  both with food and with atmosphere.

However, my experience is confirming for me that I don't like having a set dining time.  I wish it was easier to just use the specialty dining without reservations. I'm finding myself eating more food at times when I'm not hungry, simply because I had a reservation. I really like the windjammer more for the ease of dining at your own pace, serving yourself the quantity of food you  want, and being able to coordinate meals around being hungry and other activities. I've got 5 days left so I'll see how I feel at the end.

I wish u could walk in as well in specialty but dining room is chaos with my time dining too. Either way on the big ships you pretty much have to reserve all dining.

I was interested in purchasing the UDP for the Allure in Feb but the price per person during black Friday Sale is 225. I wont purchase for that price.
How much does the UDP normally cost on Oasis class?

We had UDP on the Odyssey and it was 125pp for a 6 day cruise.

Unfortunately that’s about what it is now. I still purchase for the 2 of us to have a quiet, less chaotic meal. We like to stay away from the dining room. We also end up at playmakers at the end of the night for a snack and dessert.

Seems to be getting more and more restricted as it goes on. Not for us, we would never get an UDP . The food just isn't that much better then the free food around the ship to be worth what they are charging now. I would assume, the prices for the packages are just going to go up and up even higher anyway.

We definitely do not buy it for the food. We love the relaxed atmosphere all week. Zero chaos. Although we have had some great meals in specialty. We get on board and reserve all our dinners and for lunch we just walk in and enjoy late night desserts at playmakers.

I wish, Its always sold out when I look.

I find it amusing that she is intent on telling me its worthless. She has clearly never had it and I am definitely not a new cruiser that has been flamboozled by Royal.🙃

Ill hog my internet all to myself while drinking mimosas and eating filets and lobsters.

And she can cruise the way she likes also.

Yes I have gotten the key and realized what a waste it was. I realized you can get internet cheaper by purchasing more under the same name. So I frequently buy 4 packages and sell. So it is a win win for everyone. I did it on 3 cruises this year. I will not go to windjammer at anytime and love the specialty dining. Is the food great, No but the relaxed atmosphere all week we love. The key gave me fruit in my room. Wow. They take my carryon to my room, who cares I was eating and rooms were open right after. Times for any of the activities was a joke, and sitting in the same seats that are for free was zero help. We still showed up early for seats together. Getting on early makes know difference either because we are diamond now. If I am with my son I do not need to purchase interest or dining we get it free now that he is an employee.

We've been to all of those ports so we may stay on the ship for a few days. At $14/drink, that's only 5 a day to break even. As a Diamond member, I get 4 drinks a day so I probably won't get the package. The couple we're traveling with aren't Diamond so they may want to purchase it.

I am diamond too. I can’t even drink my 4. Lol

  12. The refreshment package is $20 a day it includes everything the deluxe beverage package has except alcohol. The specialty coffee, soda, mock tails, smoothies, shakes, water and juice is included in both packages. So if you spend $70 a day on The deluxe beverage package you need to consume 4 to 5 alcohol drinks per day to break even. $50 a day in just alcohol. Of course if you’re diamond it would not make sense because you get 4 drinks a day. So I buy the $20 and get 4 free alcohol drinks a day.

  13. U can get the refreshment package at $20 a day. It includes everything the DBP includes except alcohol. If you spend $70 on a alcohol package that means u must spent $50 on just alcohol drinks in a day. So u must drink around 4-5 alcohol drinks per day to call it even. All the other drinks don’t matter because it includes The soda, specialty coffees, smoothies, shakes, water, and juices in the $20 package. I never drink all that and 4-5 alcohol drinks too in a day. Now I am diamond so not even close to worth it. I buy the $20 one and get 4 free drinks a day from diamond

Because my husband works and uses his phone and computer at same . You a big flow rider user? I suspect not? We are and husband is up that early anyway. As I said, we have found value in it and enjoyed the reserved seating and other perks.

My son is a huge user of flow rider. Usually it’s one a time buy for new cruisers and realize they got screwed. If you are into spending hundreds extra On 1 lunch and 1 breakfast and seats you are at still 30 min before so be it.

Ive gotten it many times at 21.99 and 19.99.We always get 2 internet and sometimes 3 for the 2 of us. I like to walk in at last minute to great seats. I like the hours of less crowded flow rider. I also live near to port.  My husband likes to cut line and set off to head to meetings. As I said, WE don't find it to be bad when on sale.

Why would u get 3 internet for 2 people. U can use on multiple devices. U can’t walk in last min to a show even with key. The flowrider time is a joke. It’s 1 or 2 times during the week in a time nobody likes. I bought 4 internet packages in Aug on my Harmony cruise and sold 3 to other people on our roll call. By me buying multiple devises under only me it cost $80 each is all for the week. Even at $20 u r paying at least $40 a day. $280 for the week.

If you are a person who gets zoom, its not bad. For another few dollars a day you get the chops lunch and the good breakfast plus reserved seating at shows. And you skip the line on disembarkation, it was great. This has had great value to us on Oasis class ships.

We get zoom and pay between $15-18. We only need 1 package. The reserved seats are right next to my free seats. I sleep in on last day and go to park cafe for breakfast and walk off whenever I want. We live in south Florida. Only take oasis class ships. I spend my money on UDP. 2 people cost over $350 on key when you can spend $150 more and get all your dining. Zoom is not even close to worth it. It’s not just a few dollars more than internet package. They charge everyone in cabin the high rate. The more packages you buy the cheaper it is under one person.
