COVID-19 Protection Program
This new element of the Worry-Free Promise program provides further peace of mind for guests within 30 days of embarkation all the way through to disembarkation for bookings made by September 30, 2022 and sailing on or before December 31, 2022. It is designed to assist guests who, as a result of being suspected of having COVID-19 or testing positive for COVID-19, may be unable to travel to embarkation, may be denied boarding, may be quarantined on board or disembarked early. It is also designed to assist guests who, as a result of governmental travel restrictions put in place within 30 days of embarkation, cannot travel to the country of embarkation for their booked cruise. The program outlined below will apply to the affected guests and their immediate travel party in the same stateroom. This program covers the situations where a passenger cannot travel due to COVID-19, but the cruise itself is not cancelled or delayed for more than 3 calendar days due to COVID-19, which is covered by our Nonperformance of Cruise: Refund Policy and Instructions viewed here.
Pre-Embarkation:
1. Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for 100% of the cancellation fee amount of non-refundable unused services, and a refund to the original form of payment for all taxes, fees, port expenses, and pre-paid onboard experiences and shore excursions purchased through the cruise line. Applicable, for guests and their immediate travel party in the same stateroom if any guest tests positive for COVID-19 within 30 days prior to embarkation.
On Board:
1. FCC worth 100% of the per-day cruise fare for the missed days and a refundable credit to their onboard account for missed pre-paid onboard experiences and shore excursions purchased through cruise line, and for the refundable portion of taxes, fees, and port expenses for ports visited after disembarkation.
2. Onboard COVID-related medical center visits and testing of suspected COVID-19 cases will be free of charge.Shoreside:
1. Reimbursement of expenses for COVID-related care including during any required shoreside quarantine period for guests and their immediate travel party if any such guest(s) test positive for COVID-19 during their cruise. This includes reasonable hotel expense and air change fees in the case onward travel plans need to change.
2. Any shoreside meals will be covered by a per-diem meal allowance as communicated by a letter provided onboard prior to disembarkation. (no receipt retention is required).
a. This program is not intended to replace insurance or travel protection there are many non-COVID related reasons for travel protection plans.
b. Insurance may allow for refunds in some cases otherwise covered by FCC only.
c. Insurance coverage is subject to the applicable policy.General:
1. Due to restrictions at some ports, it may be required that guests who have tested positive and their close contacts disembark and continue isolation ashore instead of on the ship. If you’re required to disembark the ship, we’ll work with the local port authorities to secure the most appropriate accommodation for your period of isolation. In some instances, local authorities require isolation take place at a specific hotel, pre-approved to accommodate positive cases of COVID-19. These hotels could be 2-3 star properties and upgrades are beyond our control.
2. All elements of the Covid-19 Plan are excess over any valid and collectible insurance. Guests will be reimbursed for reasonable expenses, as defined below, incurred but not covered by their insurance meaning that the guest must file a claim with their primary insurer, and submit any excluded or uncovered expense.
3. This program shall not be applicable to a guest or any member(s) of their immediate travel party if such individual makes any false statements to the cruise line as to such individual’s COVID-19 vaccination status. The cruise line reserves the right to revoke any of the goodwill benefits provided in this program in the event of discovery of such false statements.
4. This program is not intended to provide long-term care for issues arising from COVID-19 and there will be no reimbursement of any expenses incurred after guest is medically cleared to travel home. This plan is also designed assist guests who, as a result of governmental travel restrictions put in place within 30 days of embarkation, cannot travel to the country of embarkation for their booked cruise.

The land tours are all riding the bus and trains with no masks (see the pictures on the land tour blogs).
Eating buffet dinners sitting side by side, it's not surprising.
We are on the July 10th Noordam, we are going to rethink our group excursions. The 8 hour Bus/Train to Denali is a concern, thankfully we are cruising first.

From HAL website, June 17th.
U.S. & Canada Sailings Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know about current health protocols and travel requirements on sailings from the U.S and Canada.
Updated June 17, 2022
Until further notice, these are the requirements for our cruise guests on sailings from the U.S. and Canada.
Vaccines: Guests ages 12 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated. Children under 5 years of age do not need to be vaccinated. Children between 5-11 years of age may be unvaccinated but will need to go through an exemption process.
Testing: All guests ages 2 and older are required to take a pre-travel Covid-19 test. The type and timing of the test is dependent on the embarkation country and vaccination status. View Testing Requirements
Masks: Masks are recommended on board but not required except on Alaska cruises that sail to/from Whittier and Vancouver.

We got the above email on 11 June for our 17 July cruise. Interestingly, we have NOT received the backpedaling message posted above by Petronillus.....
I would like to see the date on that letter, the letter that I posted was also June 11th. We go on to Denali from Whittier.

The one way cruises link up with land tours. There seem to be reports of a number of cases being found during testing before (disemarking the ship) and after the land tours (prior to boarding).
Yes, received this for our July 10th sailing on the Noordam from Vancouver to Whittier.
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION We wish to advise you of an update to our onboard mask policy for your voyage. Out of an abundance of caution due to the rise in positive COVID-19 cases throughout Alaska, all guests will be required to wear face masks at all times while indoors on board during your cruise, except when eating or drinking or in their own staterooms. Masks are highly recommended while outdoors in large gatherings or if physical distancing cannot be maintained. We also strongly recommend wearing masks while ashore, particularly when indoors, on public transportation or in crowded areas. Masks are also required on all cruise linesponsored transportation, such as motorcoaches and rail. Guests who do not comply with this mandate may not be permitted to board the ship or may be disembarked. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to exploring Alaska with you.

The Lodge announced weeks ago that they were taking no more reservations for summer 2022. Princess has closed one of their lodges for the summer, they have a number in different locations throughout the area
We have made the difficult decision to close the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge for the season effective June 17 due to ongoing staffing shortages.

We sail on July 10th, May 21st we received that letter about our Boarding time being assigned but of course it stated that eDocs would not be available tii ABOUT May 26th. It is now 11 days since eDocs were to be available and still cannot access. So is this unusual.... with HAL No, it is typical HAL.
We sail on the Noordam on July 10th, we received the same email and got access to our boarding passes May 29th, no boarding times yet but have downloaded both of our boarding passes.

Great information here, we are on the Noordam, 10 day Denali tour out of Vancouver on July 10th, same schedule. I have a question about the luggage transfer on the last night/morning in Anchorage.
We have a late flight out our last day, were there any luggage transfer options available where they picked up bags the last night and you didn't see the bags until you got home?
I understand you can drop your luggage off at the airport to hold for the day. We have plans to rent a car for the day and would prefer not to have the luggage with us.

Sorry I know I'm venting and am trying to calm down (it's been a crazy week in general). I don't have a problem with having to get a test before boarding. I think it should be required so not blaming the US or HAL. The problem is that Vancouver set up a test site, took appointments and payments, and then at the last minute closes down the site with little to no alternatives. They are not answering emails or phone calls about the rescheduling. We're staying at the Pan Pacific and they aren't taking apts. At this point my husband is insisting we just go back to the airport since they've (supposedly) reschedule us there so I guess that's what we'll do. Sure not the way I wanted to start our first trip in over 2 years but hopefully we'll get past this and the cruise itself will be good.
We are in a similiar situation but our scheduled, and paid for test is not until July 8th. I have yet to get an email telling me the site has been moved. We are sailing July 10th on the Noordam.
You can sign into CVM Medical and create an account, you then can modify your appointment time at the airport, take the train and see the sights. This is what we are going to do.

The Pan Pacific is $125 I believe, so is the Fairmont. The testing at the Convention Ctr. and the airport are operated by the same company. CVM is the company. There is a list over on TripAdvisor/Vancouver Forum....
We made appointments for our July Noordam cruise.

I have seen some posts that HAL has indicated they will not be providing tests for passengers disembarking in Vancouver. We disembark on 7/10 and Delta has rescheduled our flight home to the USA to an earlier departure of 1:00pm. Any ideas on where we can get testing in the limited time? We did pay for the HAL transfer from the port to the airport. Can we pay to have a test done on the ship the day before disembarking? Freaking out a little bit. 😳😬
Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.
We are boarding the Noordam on July 10th in Vancouver. We plan on scheduling our test at the Pan Pacific testing site at the cruise terminal. You can schedule in advance.

This 2 day testing requirement is a total disaster. I'm in Las Vegas right now and have to fly to FLL on the 25th for the Edge sailing on 26th. CVS has no appointments on 24th or 25th (probably blocked due to Christmas?).
This is what is available on December 26th.

Did they get a printed copy from the testing site at the airport or an email of the results?
Does HAL require a printed result or will an email on you phone be OK?
An e-mail works fine, we boarded the Eurodam on Nov 16th, with an e-mail negative confirmation result from curative.com, they verify the dates, result and your name.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
×The test collection site at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is located in Terminal 3, pre-security, on the lower level near baggage claim. Follow directional signage. The site is open to consumers that can provide proof of travel plans to or from FLL on any airline – e.g. valid airline ticket, boarding pass or confirmed (paid) flight itinerary. Are the milkshakes at the Burger place or the Pizza place? Are they an included item or at an extra cost?
Just off the Nov 16th Eurodam, Milkshakes are at Dive In and yes you have to pay extra for it. Not sure about the Pizza place.
