Love your happy dance!! I'm soooo excited, too! First T'giving cruise... but I'm sure it won't be my last!

As you can see from signature line we LOVE to sail over Thanksgiving!

Cash. They don't have room to store anything. Or maybe a bottle of wine from a winery near you. Now you are allowed to bring it on and it won't take up any space in their room (assuming they drink it).

oops...queen mary 2 - not the QE2
-
We are getting ready to book the QE2 for July 2015. We were going to sail from NYC to London, hang there for a few days, then go to Ireland for a bit and fly back however, after reading a few posts I think we will fly first and sail back. On the trip it will be me, my 80 year old mother and my dd (16) in one room and in another room my niece and nephew - 23 and 15.
We sail the larger ships frequently. Are there activities on this ship for the teenagers?
Any suggestions for any part of our trip - land or see to make it easier?? Last time I was in Ireland it was 1981.
TIA

We wanted to sail on the QE2 but the website was giving me issues this morning and I gave up. It was only showing random dates. But I just pulled it back up and it has exactly what we want! We want to sail over and then hang in Ireland for a week or so and fly back.
Thanks!

I always wear long pants and a sweater in the evening. We sail every Thanksgiving. They turn up the AC inside and it gets really cold.

We want to sail to London/Ireland during the summer. Is this even possible? I have been pulling up different cruise lines and no one seems to do this route in the summer.

Which is why I'd only be within walking distance and plan to be back on the ship hours before sail time. Yep, I already thought of that!!
If you are just doing to be shopping by the port go for it.

I haven't just because I am so afraid something will happen TO ME and I will end up missing the boat. I am sure she will be fine.

It is a good place to watch the aqua theatre shows.
But I still pick Ocean View.
One trip we had both across from each other - and to be honest I think we sat on the boardwalk balcony more - but I would still pick ocean view.

I have had both and prefer ocean facing. Oasis and so big and unless you make effort you won't see the ocean.

Thanks for the laugh! That is so something that would have happened to me.
I love it!!!But I do not role play anymore that is..............
You see
When I was in my 20's before marriage like all other young adults the bar scene was where it was at on Friday evenings.
I hated telling anyone I was a nurse............
So.......................
I was a BIG defense attorneys secretary in Youngstown Ohio.
Wouldn't you know it, I was talking to a nice looking young business man and we chit chatted for awhile and he asked me what I did, so I told him secretary.
We goes for who and where?
I told him down town in the courthouse, ....
He goes which floor, I was just there....................
I go 4th.
He goes the court house only has 3 floors, what do you work with the pigeons?????
BUSTED, we never went out on a date.
So,
Now I behave.

Did you ever watch the show Mad About You? They did this once on vacation - it was hysterical. I have the worst memory - I couldn't do it - I would keep forgetting what I had said the night before.
Season 3, Episode 19: Two Tickets to Paradise
30 March 1995
Paul and Jamie are headed off to a tropical island resort given to them by Paul's parents, since they changed their minds about it and the trip is non-refundable, so Paul and Jamie have to pose as Burt and Sylvia Buchman. The trip has no TV or telephones and plenty of activities; Problem is the activities and the people who were matched to them are designed for Paul's parents. Jamie convinces Paul to play a game she used to do with Lisa when they were kids, where they would see how many different people they could be. Soon, they are saying they are saying that they are anything from circus performers, rodeo clowns, and a secret service agent. Everybody seems to like them, but Paul and Jamie now have to keep track of the lies and what they told those people when they meet up with them. In addition, Jamie is in trouble when she is confronted by the resort's activity coordinator from all the lies they've told. They suspect that they are not Burt and Sylvia Buchman and this will be turned over to the resort's security. Jamie then tells her that Paul is insane. Now the Activities coordinator is alerting all the guests and staff and everyone is avoiding Paul and Paul doesn't realize what's going on until Jamie tells him what's happening. Now everyone at the resort is convinced that Paul is insane.

We LOVE table mates! We see each other everyday. We have heard all our stores. We LOVE eating with new people and hearing their crazy stories. Unfortunately, we always travel for Thanksgiving and so many extended families travel together most of them don't want to sit with other families.

We tried to just show up while on Oasis and some nights it was a 2 hour wait. Never once during the week were they able to seat us within 30 minutes. After the first night I tried to make reservations but the only times available were very late. Keep in mind this was a full sailing.

We sail in Nov. My dd is Diamond +. In the CL lounge she always get a shirley temple. We will be sure to try it when we sail.

I'm surprised more aren't injured from how they take the stairs. A few times a cruise, I see people almost running down those stairs with both hands full.
I don't see how the ladies run down the steps in high heels. The floors and stairs look so slippery. I hope the lady is going to be okay.

It is their job. They are getting paid to help you. And you are being nice to them. I always think if they are not on the phone with me they might be on the phone with someone who is rude - then I don't feel bad for taking their time. But yes, I agree, it should be faster!!!!!!!

Cause one is 12 and the other 19??
Love it!

This may be true for Royal but NCL does allow parents to sign a waiver for their 18-20 y/o to drink beer & wine. Parents must be on the cruise.
Interesting. Guess I know which cruise line my daughter will want to sail on when she turns 18!
