The Regal Princess October 23, 2021 transatlantic is now open for booking. I guess that means they got everyone moved over from the Crown. They had said “by September 30”, so quicker than expected.

I wasn’t on the Crown but just booked this on the Regal.  Thx for the heads up

Sorry, but the Regal was a move over for Crown Princess passengers who were only booked on the Trans Atlantic portion of the cruise.  Those of us booked on the entire 22 day voyage were not moved to the Regal and were left to fight over crumbs that are left over after all the move over are completed.

The original Sky T/A was a 15 day sailing departing Copenhagen on 3 September.  Due to the redeployments, that cruise was cancelled and the new crossing will now be a 14 day departing Southampton on 09/11/21.....

I guess it hasn’t opened up yet as no TA are currently offered for September at all.  I would rather be on Regal anyway.
    Hope you find it.
I’m still waiting for something East to Southampton in April 21.  I heard that was going to be the Sky but nothing available yet.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions. I am thinking of Aruba as well. I also go there all the time. I just have to look up some all inclusive resorts. Although I have a very favorite restaurant there I would have to leave one day to go to..........lol

Oe thing thou I live in Ft.Lauderdale and our postivity rate is not 13%. Broward (Port Everglades) is down to 4% something and the state is down to 5.6%. So anyone that wants come on down we are safe.

    Have a wonderful safe day.

The positivity rate in Florida is 13.5 %.  Go to Florida DEpt of Health and scroll down to Covid dashboard.  It is updated daily.

  4. Since they seemed to have cancelled the April TA on the Crown, looks like the Island will be the only ship going to Southampton.  I’ve not been on it since they chopped it up but the itinerary is different.  We won’t book it for a while until Princess actually starts cruising again.
    Where is the Crown going?

I read the CDC Federal Register post.  There is no way that cruises are going to sail anytime in the future. Based on my federal experience which, I admit is 16 years old, my  comments may well have changed since I worked.

Comments are due September 20th.  After that, they have to be reviewed and then a proposed final rule has to be published seeking comments before the rule becomes final.  At that point, the cruise lines have to make the necessary changes to comply with the final rule.  If this process is still timely, we'll be lucky to cruise anytime in 2021.

Although there is much news about vaccines, nothing to get excited about until large sample phase 3 trials.  Right now all we know a that 10 people developed adequate antibodies after 2 doses of vaccine and I think that is the Astra V one.

The part that frustrates me is there seems to be NO plan whatsoever to restart. Just keeping selling new cruises and wait for the CDC to get off their behinds isn’t a good strategy.

If you read what the CDC is actually looking at requiring for cruising to restart you will see what the cruise lines will need to do.  And it’s just not closing buffets, masks, and social distancing.  It will take more than 2 or 3 months for any cruise line to comply.

Can't see any Carnival Corp cruises going till  Spring 2021.

If they go too early and cop another outbreak it will effectively finish them.

No sign of a vaccine either, we probably have to live with this virus till it peters out and judging by the behaviour of some of my fellow countrymen in the UK who flock to beaches when the sun comes out , ignoring social distancing I can see this virus hanging around for many more months in England, particularly when we get a 2nd wave in the winter.

Carnival Corp is not in great shape financially with Moody’s lowering their rating to essentially junk status.  They nor other cruise line will survive extended shut down into 2021.

You could argue there is indeed a double standard, but for airlines there isn't many international and quarantines are required.

When you put a few thousand people mingling for a few days to weeks the petri dish will almost certainly insure that if anyone has a disease getting on they will  give it to a few more.       You can argue the same for bar, airlines, etc. except duration, size and proximity are far less.   Cruise is really special intimate environment that last for days to weeks unlike most others that are hours at most.

When sports venues allow spectators is when cruises likely should be able to sail, about the same in terms of risk, IMHO

From a fact that people haven't acted rationally across the board no different with this one, LOL

Most of EU countries are under some type of quarantine for international visitors.  I am waiting to get to friends in Dublin.  I can fly there but have to register with Irish government and quarantine for 2 weeks - not allowed outside anywhere.  They also make unannounced visits and fines violators.  Other countries have similar restrictions.
I seriously doubt cruising resumes anytime soon.  I also foresee CDC extending ban as Trump’s punishment for not paying US taxes and costing so much $$ and chaos.

Wrong....you should be though.  They have promised you your money back, but you aren’t giving them the time to follow through.  Do you know how many people they are dealing with, and with a reduced staff? Give them a break...but my agency may not allow us to do business with clients who do this.  It takes away any protected commission and technically the supplier(cruiseline) could come after us for payment.  It’s a huge headache for people who can’t be understanding and patient.

Give me a break.  With unemployment at 20% or more Princess could hire temps and get this process done in a matter of a few weeks or less.  I am sick of being patient- after 2 mos I still can’t get a straight answer from them, an FCC, never mind pay back to my credit card.
They are attempting to stay a float with everyone’s money.  Bankruptcy will be swift and silent.

  10. Just to see how this refund process isn't working too well:  Today I received an email asking me to pick an option for a cruise I cancelled (CFAR) on Feb. 28.  The sail date was May 4.  The money was  already refunded on my credit card  back in Feb within 48 hrs.

As of this morning I was still waiting for option 1 (FCC) for cruise that was to sail Apr 19.  The above email asking me for info on a cruise that was already refunded convinced me to change the option and get my money back.  As always the right hand of Princess doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

I believe we are booked on the same cruise...S.F. to Vancouver.

Do folks think it makes sense to hold on until Final Payment or cancel sooner?

Regardless of when I’ve booked a cruise I never pay the balance until it’s due.  My money can make a little bit of interest in my accounts and if something happens to me last minute I don’t have to go through any hassles to get my money back.

60,000 deaths in 12 weeks is more drastic then the death total from the common flus plus 50% of US citizens do not get the flu shot so please can we stop with the comparisons.  And I do not have to quarantine because of the flu.  The death total is still climbing rapidly and nowhere in sight of stopping yet.  As of today,  more people have died in the US because of COVID-19 then all the servicemen and women we lost in Viet Nam.

So what if the cruise lines fail......there will be someone there to pick up the pieces and it will become a new business model I am sure.....that is the way capitalism works. Because of the way Princess (and some of the other cruise lines too) has been treating its 1,000's of passengers who they owe money to,  I really could care less now if they are around or not.

I see you are from Florida so maybe Floridians have more of an invested interest in the foreign cruise lines surviving as we know them.  I think the cruise lines are going to have a very difficult time getting people to cruise with all the restrictions that it will require.  It will just be too much of a hassle.

It will be much easier to do land based stays than cruising in the foreseeable future and you  know mega resorts everywhere are going to  be offering some awesome deals for longterm stays.  At least for those who still have money to vacation and travel with after this is all over.

I totally agree with your post.  I am also from Fl and know exact where the OP gets the fake flu rhetoric from.

Many people are relatively new to cruising and don’t remember all the cruise lines that have gone under over the years for things that were a lot less impactful than a global pandemic.  US cruise lines, Home lines, Italian Lines are some that even in a good economy shut down.  Cruise lines don’t make money on passenger cruise fares.  They make money with a full ship and all the money on board purchases.

  13. Cruise lines are bleeding money right now with estimates of > 5 mil a day.  They are intentionally keeping quiet about resuming operations because there are still people giving them $$ and keeping them somewhat solvent.  They may resume service but only be able to sail with ships 60% full, no use of inside cabins, limited buffets, and dining rooms arranged for social distancing.  Can they still make $$ under these conditions?  Probably not.
What about predicted 2nd wave of virus 🦠 in fall?  Cruise lines may come back for  a short while but eventually will all go bankrupt.
