  1. There are six cruises to choose from all on the Triumph. 4/29/19 is a 7 day going to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport. There are three 6 day cruises on 5/6/19, 10/14/19 and 10/20/19 going to Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Freeport. There are two 5 day cruises on 5/12/19 and 5/17/19 going to Nassau and Freeport.

Where did you find the 4/29/19 cruise? I looked on a popular travel site, but that 1 didn't show up.

  2. You might get a better answer if you go on Trip Advisor Hawaii travel forum. I've been to Kauai on a land trip & I remember it being quite a distance to the north shore. May want to check if uber is there.

  3. We have taken 4 cruises out of Norfolk, Maasdam 1, Glory 2, & Sunshine 1. Maasdam was an 11 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean, great cruise! Glory was Bahamas & Sunshine to Bermuda.

We didn't need to fly or fly in a day early or get a hotel room. I have no interest in returning to the Bahamas. I would return to Bermuda, but I see Carnival isn't offering that itinerary.

These short cruises are great for local 1st timers to see if cruising appeals to them. :)

  4. Sorry but I'm a bit confused....Hyatt Place just off 17th Street sits right next to the Harbor Shopping area which has a publix market as well as several restaurants there and very near by and actually sits just behind Embassy Suites...Perhaps you didn't stay at this particular Hyatt Place.

We stayed at this hotel in April 2018. Hotel had a good breakfast of hot & cold foods. Very close to plenty of restaurants. We had dinner at Kelly's Landing.

Hyatt's shuttle driver took us to the airport....maybe a 10 minute drive. :)

  5. This November trip to Miami will only be the third time in my life I have flown. My first was in ‘05 and the second was in ‘09.....and I hated it both times!! LOL

But we decided we wanted to do the ABC islands so badly but just couldn’t face driving from Atlanta to Miami.

So between flying, using Uber and a new sailing route it should be quite the adventure!!

Ahhh, things we will do when we want something so badly. I took my 1st flight & 1st cruise when I was 41....I wanted to cruise so bad & the only way to get to San Juan PR was to fly. Still flying after 15 cruises.

I was also nervous about using Uber (first time this Feb.) Only had a smart phone for a short time. I muddle through it just fine & will use Uber again next week.

  6. I would say the bartenders are very aggressive selling the drink packages on the first day. Every time you turned around there was another one trying to sell you a drink package, and if you already had one they would try to sell you the more expensive one. It was very annoying.

Our cruise on the Equinox 2/24 to 3/1 wasn't anything like she is reporting. Just like you, we were hound by wait staff to purchase the beverage package on the first day. All through out our cruise we were approached by staff wanting us to purchase specialty restaurant, spa, jewelry, etc. Didn't leave us with a good impression of Celebrity.

Oddly, we weren't hounded by photographers.

On sea days there wasn't an available lounger to be found. There were a lot of people laying on the grass with a towel.

  7. We were in Miami for disembarkation with 6 ships in port. Terminals were very congested, but we called Lyft & told the driver what terminal to stop at & the terminals are also numbered. Example: Terminal G between 9 & 10. As others have commented about car model & license number, we had no issues with the driver finding us. I don't think we waited more than 5 minutes for him to get to us.

  8. We booked the Nov 24th (post Thanksgiving) cruise on Celebrity Equinox several months ago, but just found out today that this cruise is part of the Pied Piper travel group for LGBT. We get along with anyone, however, we'll be travelling with 3 children. If anyone has travelled on similar cruise, can you please share your experience with us? We have kids range from 7-13 years old, and I'm curious if this would be an appropriate environment for them. Please don't take this question the wrong way, this is a first cruise for us and I want it to be a good experience for everyone. Thanks in advance.

Yes, large groups tend to take over certain parts of the ship....I've only been on 1 & I was part of the large group.

Since you have 3 children, maybe looking at a different cruise line that has more to entertain children. We were on the Equinox in Feb. I really didn't see as much on that ship for kids as I have seen on others (Carnival).

  9. I was curious about the 'things to do' aspect of the Celebrity cruise line for younger demographic. We are mid 40's and are looking for a couple's getaway. We love great food and relaxation so we are looking at Equinox Concierge or Aqua class.... but I admit I'm a bit concerned about what we will do to fill our evenings. I'm not into magician shows and immature comedy shows. Also concerned about the music - is it mostly older music or do they offer a good mix of things (modern pop, some party music/dance at night)? What about around the pool deck. I read somewhere that there is live music at times but it leans toward 50' & 60's style music. If so, is it loud or can I drown it out with my music and headphones?...just not my thing. If it was Caribbean steel drums style music - that is a different story.

I guess I'm mostly wondering if we will find a place to fit in the demographics and activities of the boat. Mostly I imagine us eating and sunning on sea days but I want to know I will find somethings for the two of us to do after supper so we aren't tempted to fall asleep in a food coma at 10pm LOL.

    Thanks.

We were on the Equinox 2/24/18....They played all varieties of music. I think you will be pleased. We really didn't care for the Comedy Shows & they only had 2 shows for the week.

  10. We just returned home from our cruise. We flew into fort Lauderdale & I was very nervous about using Uber for the first time. I managed to muddle through it. I'm a senior also.

Follow the signs at the airport for share ride, limo, private transportation. It was a bit confusing for me when you get to end of the airport the arrows points to go straight....when you actually have to turn left & go out the doors then walk to your right....follow the signs. This is where Uber & Lyft pick up. Using the Uber app put in the address of your hotel. I had to choose what size of vehicle we wanted, I choose an Uber X holds 4 passengers. It turned out to be a Hyundia Elantra. Vehicle was large enough to hold our luggage 2 large & 1 small suitcases plus a couple of small bags. It should show the cost of the ride, car make, color & name & photo of driver. If you are satisfied, hit book it. Phone number should come up & you can contact the driver, which I did so the driver would know who to look for.

    I hope this helps you....:)

  11. We just stayed 2 nights at Double Tree Biscayne Bay. Nice hotel, we had a small balcony with a partial view of Biscayne Bay. There are a couple of restaurants at the hotel & also connected to a mini mall with a few shops & restaurants. Public Grocery Store is a short walk away as is the Metro Mover.

Hotel has a Huge! pool. I never seen a hotel pool that large at any hotel I've stayed at. Hotel has 2 hot tubs.
