  1. You are probably right, I didn't recall since I probably won't use the spa again, maybe the salon, but might be better off just going to a salon on shore on one of the longer cruises.
  2. I don't think the cruise lines did it randomly. I'm sure they did their market research, seems like the big ones are all dropping the requirement. Most likely most Americans vaxed or unvaxxed have had some form of covid and have some varying state of immunity. While some are "considering cancelling" I surmise that many more are booking those empty cabins. Do you think it was coincidence that they dropped the requirement right before the 24-25 season opens for booking? And frankly if these cruise lines don't fill their ships they will go the way of Crystal and nobody will have many choices anymore.
  3. I think it was around 90 days you can do it with a call and email. The prices are very high for what you get imhop. The salon is more reasonable.
  4. This was in regents email : "RESERVATIONS OPEN ON AUGUST 24, BUT YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR EARLY RESERVATION REQUEST STARTING TODAY." - so how does this work - Can I have my travel agent call Regent to reserve and they confirm on the 24th? I'm moving a cruise I booked on board to a South Africa cruise as they said I could move once and still keep the OBS program benefits.
  5. Thanks, I'm trying to decide between the dec 6 24 cape town RT and the Dec 21st one. Latter is 1500 more and no Seven Seas society discount
  6. When do they put up Christmas decorations on the ship and do they do anything special for Christmas or NYE dinner?
  7. Some mornings after a long night I feel the same way
  8. I actually thought the old card system was faster. By the time they aim the camera to adjust to different people's heights and the time it takes to recognize seemed alot slower than the cards.
  9. It was used on May 21st splendor cruise
  10. I went to the CC often as DW was smoking there often - too cold in scotland for the pool deck. I must say it never smelled bad nor did my clothes and the ventilation was fabulous. Very fine conversation in there also including the current captain, head of F&B and the new captain coming on board!
  11. Galileo on 11 pool deck usually opposite bar in 10 no connoisseur club on navigator as I can tell.
  12. We’re planning the Dec 6th Cape Town to Cape Town but will do the Kruger pre and Vic falls post. Will take arrive early or spend a day in Europe or Qatar depending on the air. Hope to see you (two of my kids AF nephew in the big red one artillery). I’ll bring my axis and Allie’s board game for fun on board.
  13. As was said to those who didn't want to get vax "your choice don't go" Now the shoe is on the other foot.... Frankly covid is so dumbed down and weakend it isnt a big threat. Even with or without a vax you can carry it and have no symptoms. To those at risk get vaxed, mask up. I'll be more worried about the flu or norovirus ruining my vacation than a cold or covid. And I got the vax so I could travel even though I had covid before the vax and surprise twice after. All were mild and I probably had it more just didn't know.
  14. I remember you posting that glad I asked on the may splendor cruise !
  15. They do have Sake in pacific rim (not on the list)
  16. If you really wanted to go you could leave a day or two earlier to mitigate any flight delays/cancellations. We get to airport early if there are issues with Security especially overseas and just hang out in the lounge. I always did that even before all the issues. Since we started travelling again mostly on American we haven't had any significant delays (except when they did a military flyover during the queens jubilee and shut airspace over LHR for an hour) so the media might be overblowing some of this.
  17. The regent air was a big plus going to new zeal and I couldn’t find a comparable flight to what they delivered for 3500 plus the 175 deviation. They couldn’t help on the return from Bali/ Singapore since Singapore is considered Asia not Oceania but I was able to find flights on JAL using. 70k miles for business. I plan to use them to Israel and back from Rome unless I can use mirage in which case I’ll take the air credit. Probably same to South Africa but domestically it was a no brainer as I’m just not going to fly coach at this point in my life if I can avoid it. Being Exec platinum on American does help.
  18. I'm opting out of the air for our NYC-MTL cruise. Air credit is measly 300 bucks but they wanted $1398 for First/business class upgrade Per person. I just booked RT first/business class for 970 PP out of DFW. we would be doing the deviation so that would have added another 175 pp. Sometimes it is better to just book your own especially domestically.
  19. Seems like there are parents that don't watch their kids either. I don't mind kids, but if you Bring them on aa line like regent make sure they are well mannered. And yes if you sail over xmas, thanksgiving and august(especially in Europe) there is a strong probability there will be kids and of course some unruly ones. Reminds me of the time we were in Munich in August, and the Saudi's take their government subsidized vacation with Nannies. The kids were spoiled unsupervised brats racing in the lobby on wheeled shoes and when the hotel manager asked them to behave they just ignored him and told them he wasn't their boss. Never again!
  20. Having been on one Regent cruise so far, I would say there were a few mistakes in service and quality, but I expected that after covid. What I do appreciate is that when there was a mistake made the staff that made the error or manager apologized and corrected the situation. To me the fact that someone is striving to be excellent and acknowledges a mistake is the difference for a person or company that just doesn't care. Really how many on this board can say they never made a mistake at work or could have done it better throughout your career or personal life. The key is to own it and strive to not repeat it. I sincerely believe that most if not all of Regent's staff and on-board managers are trying to follow that rule. So I had to wait 10 minutes longer for my meal, but I had good drinks, great company and on a beautiful ship in an exotic location, better than a day working. 21. We were tendered in May. you could do the castle tour which is fairly short and then take taxi to Britannia and then back to ship. They had the Britannia tour on our splendor trip so as you said hopefully, they may add it.
  22. not sure what program you are in but have you looked at booking main cabin (coach) tickets for both and using miles to upgrade to business. But not sure if regent will book you in coach at a lower price.
