  1. Tank museum in Dorchester is a great option if you a WW buff. Even if not the size of some of those tanks is amazing up close.
  2. You should make a trip to the tank museum in Dorchester if you are a history buff. It is indoors so cold rainy weather shouldn't be an issue. Portland (Weymouth) has a D-day Museum. You could be like George III and take an icy bath in the ocean (lol)
  3. Personally, I would book it as you would only be out the admin fee 200 bucks and try a seven day cruise in 2023 to see if you like it. We loved our first cruise on Regent, but have not been on Azamara.
  4. Going back and forth with my TA. I told him he needs to speak to another regent sales agent. I get the 750 non use refund but this is not a non-use it is an upgrade. I just priced out the same 15-day cruise on Silverses and the pricing with business air came in at nearly the same price for a PHB on Regent splendor and a silver suite on silver spirit.
  5. thanks that is what they are trying to do no - Perhaps RSSC should standardize the and publish the rules.
  6. Is there a standard way they calculate the additional cost to upgrade the land packages to a different one. On one cruise they based it on the difference between the included package and the new one. On the latest quote for a Cape town cruise, they are just giving a 750 non use credit, instead of the difference 4299-1199 SB 3100 less the 5% PH discount on land packages. Do they have a standard or is it up to the individual RSSC sales agent to calculate it?
  7. I saw on the Silverses board that Japan was going to ease restrictions soon. We are on the HK-Tokyo in feb 24. Curios as to what they will do with that one as CCP does not seem to want to behave and I doubt they will behave by 2024.
  8. Probably my first stupid question…. (At least On this board) …but on the same ship are there any differences between classic deluxe and superior verandah suites other than location? I’m assuming not but just checking. Sorry I’m a silversea noob.
  9. I saw so much to do we added another night fortunately I was able to still use miles the next day on BA. As far as the castles Kronborg Fredricksborg - It looks like there is a tour that does them as well as roskilde. but it's a long day. If you had to pick one to see which would it be?
  10. So at SALT on a seaday we get seafood !
  11. Sounds like we are doing this very similar cruise on the dawn next year finishing in Copenhagen. We book 3 nights post cruise. What is the issue with kensekei is it bad the up-charge or just the type of cusine? Curious what the meals were in sSALT. Did they have mussels on board?
  12. Great thread ! Lots of good advice. We just booked the silver dawn on this itinerary. DW is into Vikings and all those shows. We just did a cruise around Scotland and Ireland this past May. Of course she was cold so she had been warned about this one . I’m hoping it won’t be as windy in the “fjords”. But she can bring her down jacket. As I mentioned she is into Viking stuff. I didn’t see a lot except in Oslo and. Haugesund we have a couple of themed tours. And in Copenhagen and roskilde some stuff. I think historically the Vikings were in the southern part of Scandinavia, not sure I blame them. . We have some scenic tours that go to a cider farm and another to another farm which will give here some glimpse into living back in the day. I’m cool with the glam train and other scenic stuff. That said is there anything at those other ports she should see? which towns are good for walking around and shopping? Are there some good places to eat mussels at any of the ports? Thanks For the advice I’m all ears!
  13. This looks like the go to thread for Copenhagen. which port do the ships arrive at I saw a link from 2019 but that was no good anymore. We arrive on the silver dawn June 14, 23. We are staying at the villa Copenhagen. I see there isn’t Uber so are the taxis fair in their fares(Pardon the pun)? Do they take credit cards? About how much. Same for going from hotel to airport. I suspect we will have too much luggage to haul on the train/bus. same for going to airport . To get around to the sights it seems walking is fairly easy and not too far from hotel to kastell and Amalienborg. Any can’t miss lunch spots in that area? Food specialities ? I saw some canal cruise tours has anyone done them and are they worth doing? Has anyone been to Roskilde. We were thinking of hoping on the train to go see the museum (supposedly lots of Viking stuff) and the Viking ship museum. how is the English there, I speak a fair amount of German but not Dansk. finally how is the airport as far as flying out. Security queues and all . thanks for any insight looking forward to the trip.
  14. Wow I might be toasted by then if I don't eat.
  15. LOL it is for DW she needs a magnifying mirror - can't put on eye makeup with readers on.
  16. So I figured out the "mysilvesea" and booked my shore excursions. That is a nice interface, way better than regent, I like the graphics, and I got all that I wanted. I hope dining goes as smoothly. What time do the dining venues open 6, 6:30 ? and when are the shows in the theater, 930? any links to the a spa thread?
  17. BA rolling out new seats by end of year on 777's and A350s and new 787-10's. starting rollout on 787-8/9's. not sure when the a380 gets them. Big upgrade form the previous Club world
  18. The shoes are so comfortable I wear them (different color) on shore excursions many times.
  19. Now that I am booked I’ll be perusing the board. If anyone can fill in that is fine otherwise I’ll try to get if from the board. Frankly I get more information here and from YouTube than from my TA. Dining choice seems overwhelming do all the venues require reservations ? Are there any menus posted? Any dining preferences for formal nights ? How is the spa thought it was overpriced on regent and too much product selling. Is there a spa menu avialable. DW wants to know if there is a makeup mirror in the veranda suites and are there binoculars Glad I’m AA exec platinum (one world emerald) might need three bags for the fancy duds. I live in Belize most of the year so don’t get to don them much. I assume bow ties are ok. I like most old folks have bad feet and like to wear Cole Hahn shoes, I hope they are acceptable. Please comment if shoes like these are acceptable. We just got off the regent splendor in June this past year and are going on explorer Auckland to Bali. Then this one Southampton or Copenhagen on the dawn. Will be nice to compare. Thanks for any input.
  20. Looks like I found some decent flights DFW to LHR on AA business 180K ea and return from CPH to ORD on BA (new club world suites seats 1-2-1 in business for just 57.5 K miles each. I'll just book a flight from ORD to DFW. So, I'm pulling the trigger!
  21. I noticed there weren’t any pre or post cruise land or hotel options and the cruise may 31,2023. When do they offer those ?
  22. Thanks I’m coming to the conclusion that the ship and itinerary along with a great price especially the non refundable deposit price is weighing in the dawns favor. I’m able to use some miles for the business class air although AA has jacked up the milage requirement but with 2m miles I need to use them at some point. So basically I can do 14 nights on the dawn for 17700 vs 11 nights on the nav form15980. I’ll get 500 obc from Amex so that will buy a few nights at the specialty restaurants. Dw really wants to go see Viking stuff so I think this is becoming a no brainer. thanks all for the input.
  23. You should look at cole hahn zero grand shoes they have a Nike sole so supercomfy yet the oxfords are very dressy. I wore them on some shore excursion.
  24. Fair enough I'm sure it is comparable to at least celebrity laminae suite restaurant You men I can't wear a kilt?
