I swear, if we keep saving money with all the deals, we will be broke!😳 I did manage to get the limit of five, $500 dollar Southwest gift cards before they sold out. That should get the seven of us to Florida and back, for our Utopia cruise in August. One good deal that was out there yesterday was one of our gas stations reduced their price to $2.24 a gallon. Too bad only one vehicle needed gas, but it saved $22 on that fill up.

For any of you who are SW Airlines fliers, and also Sam’s Club members, Sam’s has a deal on SW gift cards tomorrow. Limit of five cards. $500 cards for $399.99. I know I will be getting five. That will be my reason to be up at midnight again. Maybe Royal should take note of what a real sale looks like.

So with all this talk of weight loss, it is something that has come remarkably easy for me these past 13 weeks. I may have mentioned that I had put on a few pounds this summer, trying to keep up with my grandson by eating as much as he did. That, plus the fact that I was averaging about 4,000 steps a day less when he was here didn’t help. So I decided to start eating healthy, which meant limiting red meat, having more chicken, fish and vegetables. Only fruit for snacks. Susan found some great low calorie recipes, that were good, and filling. Susan was eating the same things, and she lost a few pounds, but she is already at or below an ideal weight. She has always been thin. I know some say that BMI is next to worthless, but it is still something that is measured by our doctors. At the end of 13 weeks, I am down 31 pounds, and BMI dropped from 28 to 23. The only drawback I can see, is if I were fighting, I am solidly in a lightweight class, and if I were to loose a few more pounds, it would make me a featherweight. I am not sure I want to be considered either a lightweight or a featherweight. 😂 Maybe it is a good thing the holidays and cruises are here. Maybe I will move up a class.

Oh, tell me about acorn season. We have so many species of oak, that they they produce the majority of their crop every three years. Of course, that schedule means some are dropping a bunch every year. This year, I collected about 600 gallon of them. They are for good luck, you know. Our red oaks will hold on to a lot of their leaves until spring. That way, we get to do leaf cleanup in the spring too.
