  1. Hi Subman738, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I also answered you in the Q & A I'm doing now: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2606-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-november-2022/ When your wife fell broke her right pinkie finger, did you contact Travel Guard and whoever you bought your policy from to find out what you had to do when you were still on your trip? If so, what did they tell you? Steve Dasseos
  2. Hi SoloFullTime, I sell the Cigna plans on my Expatriate Trip Insurance website that you will find here: https://expatriatetripinsurance.com/ These plans can be bought for trips of at least 3 months in length. Steve Dasseos
  3. Hi Calypso54, M y Q & A is still active through at least the end of 2022 and it's likely to continue into 2023. This is what I wrote in my answer to you: Medicare won't cover you. If you got ill or injured outside the USA, what's the most you will pay in deductibles and co-pays that Tricare doesn't pay? Steve
  4. Hi SoloFullTime, I can't tell from you post if you are coming back to the USA after each up to month-long stay in a port. Are you? Steve Dasseos
  5. Hi ngrund, There are a few reasons that are mostly due to how travel has changed since Covid started. Steve Dasseos
  6. Hi croooze, I don't recommend padding the dates because you can always amend the dates prior to leaving on your trip to match your travel dates should they change. It's important that the dates on your policy match your actual travel dates. If not, you are risking a claim denial or a more complicated claim. If you are delayed returning home for a covered reason, the "Extension of Coverage" benefit will cover you. Read this for more information: https://tripinsurancestore.com/blog/this-little-known-benefit-is-important/ Steve Dasseos
  7. Hi crooooze, Medical and medical evacuation costs are a lot less that people realize. The most expensive medical evacuation I've seen was $127,000 from South Africa to Minnesota. The The most expensive medical claim I've seen was $74,000 for a heart attack in Germany. Steve Dasseos
  8. Hi donaldsc, Here's how you find out about Medicare's coverage outside the USA: https://tripinsurancestore.com/medicare-does-not-cover-you-outside-the-usa/ Steve Dasseos
  9. Hi Scrufsmom, I am very thankful for the favor and kind words I have received on Cruise Critic. The editors have let me do seven multi-month long Q & As in the last 5 years. Here's the Q & A I'm doing now: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2606-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-november-2022/ Here's the Cruise Critic Q & A earlier this year: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2558-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-jan-22/ Here's the archived link to the Q & A I did in Dec 2020 and Jan 2021 that was re-opened in June 2021: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2500-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-read-only/ I also did a Q & A on Cruise Critic for June 2020: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2484-qa-cruise-insurance-w-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-june-2020-read-only/ Steve Dasseos
  10. Hi jclinard, > When I've asked if I'm incapacitated and unable to call the insurance people before medical treatment in order for them to pay (many people have noted they didn't follow that and were denied claims), I get silence on what I'm supposed to do. I'm sorry you weren't ever given an answer on this question. Not all travel insurance plans work the same way. Many of the travel medical only plans have "pre-certification requirements" while trip cancellation travel insurance plans don't have these same requirements. While I cannot speak for all travel insurance plans, all the trip cancellation travel insurance plans I know well will cover needed medical treatment whether or not you contacted the insurance company prior to treatment or not. Steve Dasseos
  11. Hi CruisingAlong4Now, > If it is primary, it will quite often guarantee or pay the deposit required by many foreign hospitals. If it is secondary, you will probably have to post cash bond yourself or accept an immediate charge on your credit card before getting treated in some ports. This isn't true. Primary (First Payer) isn’t better than Secondary (Excess). The only difference is the order in which the medical claims are paid. I know Primary and Secondary plans that will advance payment to a medical facility if needed to secure Your admission. And, I don't know any plans whose policy wording states that they will guarantee payments or deposits required medical facility. Trip cancellation travel insurance plans are “indemnification” plans (you will be reimbursed – indemnified) after your trip by the insurance company. Trip cancellation travel insurance is not a “pay on behalf of” plan. You don’t just give the medical facility a card. In some cases, a few companies can advance payment to the medical facility, but it’s on a case-by-case basis. I cover this in more detail here: https://tripinsurancestore.com/how-primary-and-secondary-travel-insurance-medical-coverage-works/ And, the Cruise Critic editors have let me do six multi-month long Q & As in the last 5 years. Here's the Cruise Critic Q & A earlier this year: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2558-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-jan-22/ Here's the archived link to the Q & A I did in Dec 2020 and Jan 2021 that was re-opened in June 2021: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2500-qa-cruise-insurance-with-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-read-only/ I also did a Q & A on Cruise Critic for June 2020: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2484-qa-cruise-insurance-w-steve-dasseos-of-the-tripinsurancestorecom-june-2020-read-only/ I hope this helps you. Steve Dasseos
  12. Hi Tom, You need to call them and ask if this is true when you are traveling outside the USA. Steve Dasseos
  13. Hi bones774, I haven't found an Annual Trip Cancellation plan that is good enough for me to sell. And, the Geo Blue isn't available to NY residents. Steve Dasseos
  14. Hi Tom, I've never seen a medical claim over $74,000 nor an evacuation claim for over $127,000. In order to give you more accurate advice, are you covered by Medicare with a supplement you bought on your own, have Tricare or are on a former employers' retiree health plan? Or do you have Advantage plans? Steve Dasseos
  15. Hi spikemom, Did you ask whoever you bought your travel insurance from? They should be helping you. Steve Dasseos
  16. Hi shiner6, I read through this thread. I don't know who you are with your CC name. Have you called us for help with your claim? If not, call us and we'll help you to find out if there's any way your claim can be paid. Steve Dasseos
  17. Hi April, > What does "not duplicate any other benefits payable under the policy" mean? This wording is there because sometimes a claim is payable under different benefits in the same policy. > In case my flight is delayed, I missed the cruise, have to purchase another flight ticket to catch it from the next port, can I file flight ticket under "missed connection", hotel under "trip delay", unused cruise day under "trip interruption"? You'll have to check the policy's wording and definitions for the answer. Steve Dasseos
  18. Hi kent4489, Here's the wording from Geo Blue's Individual Certificate of Coverage: International/Foreign Country Providers If You are outside the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Covered Expenses for these Foreign Country Providers are based on the Usual & Customary Fee, if applicable, which may be less than actual billed Charges. Foreign Country Providers can bill the Covered Person for amounts exceeding Covered Expenses. GeoBlue provides a list to Covered Persons of Foreign Country Providers with whom GeoBlue has contracted to accept assignment of claims and direct payments from Us or Our Administrator for Covered Expenses incurred by Covered Persons, thus alleviating the necessity of the Covered Person paying the Foreign Country Provider and submitting a claim for reimbursement. This particular group of Foreign Country Providers are a group of Foreign Country Providers for whom GeoBlue is able to provide background information and to arrange access for Covered Persons. I hope this helps you. Steve Dasseos
  19. Hi fstuff1, I asked Deanna and she sent you that information because no policies tell you all the places where the transports can originate from. She thought it was best for you to see what the policy said. Steve Dasseos
