Which this week has been very crowded.  Found out why so many families. The schools in Puerto Rico don't resume classes until 1/17!    Arrived Barbados this morning.  Will head our soon.  There are 3 other ships in port and we're far from terminal so they are running shuttles.  Other ships are an Aida, a Tui and Club med 2.  I did create a stir with officers yesterday after the cheers with officers lunch where there were a few "service" dogs in attendance,  one of which was wandering around the dining room.  These are obviously pets. I know Royal has to comply with ADA but there's got to be some rules.  Precovid I thought they had tried to ban these pets but they are back.

That is totally inappropriate and I would have had to say something as I’m allergic to dogs and would have ended up sneezing like crazy and itching at my eyes

We will be doing the (assuming they offer it) consecutive cruisers lunch after leg one...but will opt out to do the lunch in Chops (which I prepaid for online) as a treat to my sister who is boarding on leg 3 to celebrate her birthday.  A little more special than the WJ.  😉

What a lovely thought and definitely more special than WJ!!

I’ve learned something - To be honest, I didn’t realise Chops was open for lunch on boarding day and I was there for 4 weeks, ha ha.  Although I didn’t do the consecutive cruisers lunch either

Back again on the 22nd for 6 weeks, so might give it a try

Will be doing Chops for breakfast for three weeks, beginning the end of this month.

Though we do have an embarkation lunch (for when my sister joins us) in Chops.  Hope we have better success...it will still be more relaxing than the craziness in the WJ on embarkation day.  😮

Island lady, is the embarkation lunch in Chops something you’ve personally arranged - in November there was a consecutive cruisers lunch in the MDR

    Tacky...tacky...cheap.

One family was caught piling those small boxes of cereal into large canvas bags.   They were reprimanded and not sure what else.  Cereal is expensive.  I think that is one of the main reasons most ships have gone to those big glass containers of self serve bulk cereal like a lot of hotels have.

Too many think they have to "eat their money's worth" in more ways than one.  Hence the mountains of food they pile on their plates...and then leave half of it on the table.

Island lady, that’s just what happened on the Voyager in November, I’ve never seen as much food wasted.  Hope things will improve in January.

As I had said early in the thread "following along out of curiosity". You must have missed the review I did the 1st week she was out of PR.  Seems like not much has changed since our cruise 11/6.

I've never seen anything like it before.

I was on that same cruise, in fact for 3 cruises in November.  Have sailed from PR for over 10 years (always November and then January & February) and have never seen anything as bad as I experienced this year.  The staff in the Windjammer and at the Cafe Promenade needed medals.

Whereas I live in hope that they will drop that Beringer stuff in favour of some decent dry rose like Whispering Angel...but I know I live in a fantasy land!! So long as they don't get rid of the Chandon I'm good!  I now get 3x bottles of that.

I think you’ll be in fantasy land for a long time wishing for Whispering Angel 😂😂

Smaller scale. However, we booked about 8 JS's to get that final push back in 2017.

Go to most top tier events. The Pin with most points is usually solo

John, you could have said that about me being solo on my recent Voyager cruises but I can assure you I would give every point back if I could still have my husband back sat at the side of me.  Most of those points were earned by both of us.

  8. Just done 2 weeks on the Brilliance (exactly the same as Radiance) with an aft cabin - I wasn't thinking at the time of booking and totally forgot about the open area at the back of the Windjammer.  Absolutely horrendous noise every night as they scraped and pulled the chairs to clean - now on my “never book this cabin” list.  I’m a light sleeper and sometimes it was 4am before things settled down

Thanks, I am still not clear if this was a UK bookings only deal?

I expected more flights to Cyprus since many Brits have holiday homes there but a quick search has only shown limited TUI and Jet2, along with their package holidays. I wondered who else flew regularly from the regional airports.Sounds like BA? - will have to check their schedule out.

I flew independently on BA to Cyprus to join the Jewel last year

  10. Travelerchris

Just travelled with Royal Caribbean from Ravenna for 2 cruises

The journey to and from Venice for people using the transfers was almost 3 hours each way.  I stayed in Ravenna pre-cruise and had to pre-book a taxi at the hotel to take me to the port the next morning as there are very few taxis based there.  On departure day, the only taxis that were at the port were those that had been pre-booked (which I’d done) to collect people going back to Venice/Bologna mainly.

There’s no way I would risk trying to do a round trip visit to Venice
