  1. Just back on the ship and yet another example of the over the top service we have. Our tour got back late and La Vernada was closed. One of the head waiters saw us and waved us in as they were cleaning up. He made sure we got whatever food we wanted and before I could even sit down, my glass of Chardonnay was being poured. Truly exceptional service. We had a nice drive over to Godafoss and then a relaxing soak in the Myvatn nature baths. Looking forward to a relaxing sea day tomorrow as we have been nonstop since landing in Reykjavik. I will post some photos of our suite tomorrow.
  2. Well I jinxed myself talking about the ships horn 🙄 Last night around 10 PM we started heating the ships horn every minute. I looked outside and we were in thick dense fog. The horn continued until about 4 AM so needless to say I didn’t get much sleep. We are on deck 10 so we could hear it very clearly. Getting ready to head out to Godafoss falls and Myvatn nature baths. Another day of blue sky in Akureyri.
  3. Was not aware of that. There hasn’t been a word about Covid since we embarked. I haven’t even heard a sneeze or a cough from anyone. I hope they get released quickly to enjoy the rest of the cruise.
  4. You might get sick of hearing this the next 2 weeks but we had a great day today in Isafjordur. I woke up and opened the blinds to a huge fjord right outside our balcony. After breakfast headed to Dynjandi falls and I made it to the top which wasn’t easy between my desserts and drinks from yesterday. Spectacular scenery all around the area with waterfalls, streams and fjords as far as the eye can see. It was close to 70F/18C today and they said it was the nicest day they have had all Summer.
  5. We were having an after dinner drink in the observation lounge and saw several whales just in front of the ship. The sun doesn’t set until around 10:00 PM. The photo is zoomed in so not the best quality but you can see the tail.
  6. Good morning from Isafjordur. Nothing but sun and blue sky. Sorry I couldn’t post last night but the internet was extremely slow. We had dinner in Sette Mare last night and ran in to one of our favorite head waiters, Teghu. It’s always nice when crew recognize you. The antipasti and appetizers were great, as well as the desserts. The veal chop looked much better than it tasted, it was very dry and in desperate need of more sauce and cheese. Of course they apologized many times and offered us a different entre but we declined. antipasti, appetizers of prosciutto and melon, Parmesan tart with meatballs, caprese, roasted garlic and the veal chop.
  7. So here’s the deal. I am happy to show lots of pictures of the food, but please don’t judge me 😂. Life is short and I like to eat. Here is my dessert sampler from lunch. Oreo parfait, fruit tart and mango ice cream.
  8. Would anyone believe me if I told you I was sun bathing in Iceland? It’s true! Ok, so it’s not the Caribbean but sipping an Aperol spritz at the pool is a great life. Very greatful.
  9. An absolutely gorgeous day in Reykjavik! The sun is shining and we are onboard the beautiful Voyager. Check in was fast and right on the ship at 11.30. Currently having a glass of wine at the back of La Veranda waiting for lunch to open. Ready for a fantastic cruise. So happy to be back on Regent.
  10. Just an incredible day today. Iceland has so much natural beauty, we loved the Golden Circle tour. Huge mountains, rivers, lakes, green pastures, beautiful scenery at every turn. Met some very nice people and our guide was born and raised here so had lots of great information and history. It’s been a great three days but we are ready to board Voyager tomorrow and empty these suitcases. Yes, finally we can get to some cruise photos 😁 A few photos from today. Thingvellir National park, Gullfoss falls, and Kerid crater.
  11. In the afternoon we went to Sky lagoon. This is a man made lagoon/hot springs only 15:mins from downtown. It was very crowded but still enjoyed it. The 7 step ritual was very relaxing and the views from the infinity edge are great. I’m looking forward to visiting the Myvatn springs on Monday from Akureyri to compare the two. Tomorrow is our Golden Circle tour which we are looking forward to.
  12. We woke up to a wet and rainy day but made the best of it. After breakfast walked over to the Harpa concert hall and walked all over downtown which was quite interesting. It’s in the mid 50’s which is very enjoyable in comparison to our Florida heat and humidity. Saw the first blue sky since we arrived after dinner. Here are some pictures of Harpa and downtown,
  13. They do not. They are a domestic first class seat. Their longest flights are about 7 hours so I guess they don’t feel they need them.
  14. Yes, I got a nap in but would be difficult to sleep on an overnight flight. We just did not want to arrive at 5 or 6 in the morning so this worked out perfectly.
  15. We were lucky enough to fly over the southern tip of Greenland and the scenery was beautiful. We just arrived at our hotel and are ready for some sleep before we start exploring Reykjavik in the morning. We will be visiting the Sky lagoon in the afternoon and then dinner on the water. Goodnight everyone.
  16. We made it! 😀 We are off to a great start. Icelandair was outstanding. They closed the door 10 mins early, departed 5 mins early and we arrived 20 mins early, The flight attendants were very friendly and the service from boarding to landing was excellent. If you are a gin drinker you will love Icelandair, they have 7 different gins and you can try them all. I had a Gull beer from Iceland which was very good. The food was very good as well and I loved the dessert presentation with crumbled cookies made to look like lava.
  17. We are on board and enjoying a glass of champagne. First time on Icelandair, seats are very comfortable with a blanket, pillow, Iceland water and an amenity kit at the seat. Not bad for a 5 hour flight!
  18. Hello fellow CCers, I hope you all will indulge me in this live from thread on the Voyager. It is a fantastic itinerary visiting Iceland, Shetland Islands, Norway, Amsterdam, Belgium and ending in Southampton. I have been inspired by some great live thread’s, especially @GeorgiaPeach51 Explorer and Navigator threads. I am hoping mine will be half as entertaining and informative 😊. A little about me. I have been cruising about 40 years (I started young!) and cruise 2-3 times a year. Since Covid I have been cruising on smaller luxury lines such as Seabourn, Viking, Oceania and of course Regent. We are leaving for Reykjavik Iceland today flying on Icelandair from Boston and will have a couple days exploring Reykjavik before boarding Voyager Saturday. I will be posting photos of the ports, our suite, food and the ship. This is a port intensive cruise so please be patient if I fall behind. I am happy to take any requests or answer any questions you may have. Thanks for reading, Steve
  19. There is not a proper table in the PH for four people to eat at, it’s tight for two. I’ll be In a PH-A on Voyager next week and will confirm.
  20. Very possible. We did this with Rome Cabs (have used them for years). https://www.romecabs.com/transferservice/vip-transfers/
