  1. @GeorgiaPeach51 I always enjoy your well written reviews. I was on Explorer right after you last year and your review was immensely helpful. I look forward to meeting Crystal and Beth on our Iceland & Norway cruise in August. I hope one day our paths cross as you are always so positive! Bon Voyage, Steve
  2. I replied earlier but my post was deleted. I guess they didn’t approve of the link I posted. The Voyager is chartered those dates. Let’s try this instead:
  3. An expedition cruise is totally different from what the OP asking about. Hopefully your description is helpful for future cruisers.
  4. I just did this itinerary (no Antarctica) two months ago on Viking. I’m sure you are aware Antarctica is scenic cruising only and you won’t be stopping or getting off anywhere. For us it seemed kind of a waste to go down there and not be able to get off so we chose Viking. Yes, the weather is always unpredictable and we had several very rough days. We made it to the Falklands but unfortunately missed Ushuaia due to 50+ mph winds which was very disappointing. We enjoyed Chile and the Beagle channel / glacier alley much more than Argentina, but that’s just us. The Sun is a far different experience from Oceania, no comparison. Hope that helps, happy to answer any questions.
  5. RomeCabs is around 120-140 Euros. We have always had a newer Mercedes sedan or van. Driver is waiting for you at the port right next to the ship.
  6. We used RomeCabs (have used them for years) and it was just under an hour.
  7. On Riviera, we also anchored off Amalfi. I don’t recall Oceania ever stopping at Positano before, but I am happy to be corrected.
  8. I took the picture and was on the Jupiter end of January, beginning of February. I asked several bar staff if this was the current menu and they all said yes. Maybe they didn’t know a new one was coming, but we never saw it.
  9. Absolutely! Definitely one of the best perks in the industry.
  10. Ooh, that carpet. Must have been a huge sale 😳
  11. Definitely something different…but I wouldn’t order it again.
  12. @boblerm Thanks for the great review on Voyager. We look forward to our first cruise on her in August to Iceland and Norway. We were slightly concerned about the age of the ship but your review has made this a non-issue.
  13. Definitely the miso Chilean sea bass in CR. One of the best I’ve ever had, I actually ordered a second and skipped dessert (a rarity for me!). It was cooked to perfection. Ask one of the head waiters in La Veranda when they will have Pasteis de nata, an incredibly good custard pastry from Portugal. They only made it twice on our 13 night cruise.
  14. Absolutely. Does it affect my food or service? No. I don’t choose to judge or criticize others on my cruise. I worry about myself 😊
  15. Oh boy, another dress code thread. Hopefully it gets locked soon. Am I the only person who could care less what others wear or do? It has no affect on me or my cruise, I mind my own business and enjoy the wonderful food and service.
  16. We took this cruise (Santiago-Buenos Aires) on Viking last month. This happened to several people on our cruise as well. They had confirmed seats from BA to Miami in business but were downgraded at the airport. We had booked our own air and had no issues with our seats. I am guessing maybe the cruise got a discounted price on the airfare and that's why the cruise passengers are the ones being downgraded? Just another reason we NEVER use cruise air.
  17. It depends on the ship. The Ovation and Encore are all balcony suites.
  18. Yes, but just like Oceania and Regent I have never seen a child on board.
  19. So glad to finally see some news about Vista. It doesn't seem like there has been much information, photos, videos since the flout out last year. Hopefully we will start to see some more of her in the coming weeks.
  20. Overall we have found Seabourn to be much less. It may not be in all cases, but we didn’t feel ripped off like we did on our last Viking cruise of 17 nights.
  21. It was much more than those things. I have been on over 100 cruises and think I know when one isn’t great. I was just agreeing with her observations.
  22. I don't think ships usually have any issues docking at Stavanger. The city/port is located on the "inside" or east coast of land and in a protected area.
