  1. Again read what i wrote. I said i had not read any post which claimed that they had got awsy with a folding scooter. I never accused you of trying to do so. You asked if it is possible as many have before. It is no.
  2. John no folding powered wheelchairs are permitted in any cabin as long as they fit in the door Dai
  3. Sorry i dont visit often. You cannot take any scooter into a standard cabin. Only a suite or an adapted cabin. Foldable wheelchairs are different, manual or moterised can go in any cabin.
  4. You would still be restricted to a suite or adaptef cabin.
  5. Perhaps you should read my post carefully as well as i was answering what Sue posted.
  6. So true, we cruise in March and October most years on a family ship. The passengers are just as old as they have always been on P&O very few younger cruisers at that time of the year. I am sure that Iona next year will be full of existing cruisers with very few younger ones. Without the older generation cruising in the winter there would be no P&O
  7. The main problem with speciality restaurants on Iona is that she does so many short cruises and the demand far outweighs supply. We are cruising on her for 14 nights and i expect the demand not to be as great.
  8. Sue if you try to board there are people at the door looking for scooters and you have to register with them’. They can stop you boarding with your folding scooter unless you leave it. As I said before this is not a new problem. This has been going on for 10 years or more. I have not seen any post about anyone “getting away with it” You say you would wheel it to the gangway. Many or most would not and this is why the ban. Some people have also said it is a way to restrict the numbers of scooters on board but I have never seen this confirmed. I have used my scooters on board for over 15 years which is why I always book on day one of the bookings.
  9. Unfortunatly a folding scooter is just classed as a scooter with the same rules. This has been the case for 8+ years.
  10. Note a friend is reporting that the Epicurean on Ventura is back open and of today.
  11. Yes both fine. I got out of the habit where there was no cruising. I dip in and out, mostly out.
  12. Not sure about the lounge as we have not been in a suite since last Oct. The Epicurean is certainly open for suite breakfasts. Dai
  13. The Epicurean is open for suite breakfast. I is not open at the moment for dinners. I understand the problem is the Chefs. A world wide problem. My understanding is that then are working to fix it. I read today that Britannia has reopened all speciality restaurants.
  14. Your argument holds less water when Iona is leaving today with greater numbers than before. I am amazed by the numbers of people going on Iona for these repeat 7 day cruises. I could not see it working for a whole summer season. But it is and this is with all reported problems of staffing. I am sure the problems of the airlines is helping all cruise lines and the chaos art Dover this weekend will help as well.
  15. Locally we seem to have a shortage of chefs. Is this a problem on the ships. When we were on there were certainly lots of wait staff in the bars we used on Ventura. Of course that was before the return of Arcadia.
  16. See my reply we had paid last week and got our notification today
  17. No we got ours today and we have paid
  18. Staffing problems seem to be very widespread in Europe and America. Shortage of shuttle busses in Spain and France and reports from the US of speciality restaurants not being available on certain cruises.
  19. I understand that the suite passengers are still getting breakfast in the Epicurean. This came from a passenger on the ship.
  20. Andy was that a short cruise 5 nights or less? We have always done at least 14 nights so no large parties. This year we are on Aurora so unfortunately no children. We have found that we do far more Christmassy things on the ship than at home. Panto, Christmas cake, mince pies, carols, midnight service, lots of decorations etc. Dai
  21. As David 63 pointed out the problems you mention are not affecting P&O to any extent. On the other hand they are having a greater effect on cruise lines in the US. All of which seem to be having to cut back. With a number reducing the range of products on offer. Some of these are in the Carnival group.
  22. No always 2 tins of water, since there introduction.
