Sorry they dont they want to attract them in the school holidays and the figures show that they are. However for the rest of the cruises they ave to attract older cruisers as that is where their bread and butter is, P&O has an identity of a cruise line concentrating on cruises ex Southampton for most of the year with a fly cruise element of one ship ball year round and a 2 ship season of 5 months in the Caribbean. Linked are the world/long cruises in Jan/Feb/ March which are adult only. They are not a cruise line for with brash activity based attractions and never have been.

Odd as P&O’s bookings are up again for next year on top of the best quarter for over 10 years.

Another report says Carnival had a profit of 1.2B over the above quarter, much better than expected.

For those who think P&O and other lines are not doing well. This is from an article in Cruise Industry News, “On the European front, occupancy came in better than anticipated for Costa and AIDA, with both brands hitting 119 percent occupancy in August. Not to be outdone, P&O Cruises achieved its highest occupancy in over a decade,” said Josh Weinstein, president and CEO, on the company’s third quarter earnings call. Overall Carnival Corps had 109% occupancy for the 3rd quarter.

As you board you will be met by a member of staff. They are there to direct you to your muster station and the buffet or priority lunch. Just inform them that you are Caribbean (it will be on your boarding pass) making sure the Caribbean member goes first. And “Bob’s your Uncle”

On Ventura the Bay Tree is open for breakfast. It is usually quieter as some people fid it difficult to find ????? The good thing is that it is open until 10.00 on a sea day. This was the case March 22.

As long as you can go to the early or late show in the theatre you should be OK only the 8.30 shows seemed full. BTW we are on Iona in 11 days as well

Your opinion v mine. I reported on my last cruises on Iona the excellence of service and food. It’s there in black and white.

They go bust and then change their name and start again. A very traditional way of working. Builders have been doing it for years

We must just be lucky. Service on Britannia excellent but we were in fixed dining. Cant fault Iona either.

I have seen the photos of people waiting for their cars, reports say up to 8 hours. 😈. I think people should take this as a warning not to use odd parking firms stick to ones whom have been around for years Parking 4 Cruises, CPS or stay in a hotel and leave your car there..

Sorry food quality and service has not been reduced. The food we have had on Aurora, Britannia and Iona in the last 12 months has been good to very good 6 cruises in all.

Just checked our next Iona jaunt we paid £1777 on day one now it is £2666 - 10% = £2400. So well happy with that. As the ships fill up in the next few years the prices at launch will all go back to being the lowest.

Well I am still of a mind that day one bookings are the cheapest, even though we need the accessible cabin. I have checked our next 4 cruises and I have found this to be the case. However I have seen the odd price very cheap within 3/4 weeks of sailing. I suspect that some of these are cabins the company have been paid for and people have dropped out. Therefore they are being sold off cheaply. I had not thought that people would drop out in large numbers but on a recent cruise there were around 10 people. That was from a smallish group of 70/80. But as I say I dont have a choice.

I cannot see it continuing if its not used, especally with the other venues possibly stretched.

Not sure of the validity of the report but I have read recently that this restaurant was no where near as full as the equivalent space on Iona, the Olive Grove. This would be disappointing if it were not being supported. We will certainly try it next year.

John a fine dining room would not serve Huge lamb chops. Or huge anything. Usually you are looking hard at your plate to find the food. You are not describing fine dining. You are describing good mass catering.

There are fine dining rooms on all but one ship. So you can return to cuckoo land. It does not say or claim the MDR is fine dining. NO cruise line would claim that. Fine dining is a small restaurant, serving high end food sometimes with a celebrity chef and costing a fortune. All MDR’s are mass catering.

Who says P&O found the alternative airline.

On another forum. It has been said that TUI cannot provide the aircraft for the flights. Is it not up to TUI to charter a replacement as they are the ones with the contract for these flights. Should it not be TUI everyone is having a go at. Or is it too easy to just blame P&O. I do wish people would wait for the facts before blasting away at P&O.
