I believe you'll find that Princess has not changed their policy, and their website still says that they do cover hotel and meals (up to a limit) if you test positive at their on-shore testing site. Their web site is not laid out very well and you have to dig for the wording, but it is there.  Note that it appears you would have to pay for it yourself then get reimbursed.

Can I book my own hotel if I am required to quarantine post-disembarkation before returning home?
Hotel accommodations will be arranged by Princess with one of our contracted hotel partners. Should you select a different hotel, you will be reimbursed only for the amount of the contracted hotel rate. Any incidental charges, costs related to room upgrades and additional room nights in excess of what is provided by Princess, requested or arranged by you, is your responsibility. Princess will provide hotel accommodations until a medical professional clears you to travel home.

I wish this eased my mind but it does not. I guess it depends on interpretation. One can test positive while still onboard and be “required to quarantine post-disembarkation before returning home” so I fear this might apply only to those who tested positive while still onboard.

Is anyone aware of an individual who tested positive at the shoreside testing site and went on to have their quarantine expenses covered by Princess insurance?

I don't mean to hijack this thread but can someone tell me what documentation is needed to prove that I am a shareholder? Does my financial advisor need to send me something or can I just print up a copy of my statement? I'm a new shareholder and I don't have a clue what they require.

as a new shareholder myself, I can share that I simply blacked out the account number on my statement and emailed a photo of it, ensuring that my name showed on the statement page. Good luck!

It depends on the travel insurance company. With Johnson Insurance, my group policy covers us with and without the travel advisory.

Can you confirm that PSHCP covers Covid medical as well or do I need to purchase Medoc as well?  I was going to anyway, but an early January cruise grabbed my attention and not sure I will have time to join the Association and buy the insurance in time. My cruise is with Princess and although I also purchased their insurance so that cancellation would be included, they are now testing on the pier after disembarking, which may mean quarantine costs would not be covered if I test positive.

I am not risk averse, but this has me rethinking the cruise ☹️

  4. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they have not corrected their website. I contacted my PCC about a cruise I already had booked and he confirmed the promo included prepaid gratuities for the entire cruise and added it to my booking. I had already paid $1500 CDN as a deposit and it had to be amended to reflect that $198 of that deposit is non refundable.

I was in a VH balcony and bought Club Orange. I was hoping for an aft VS but since none were available I got a VB on deck 4. Two weeks later I saw an aft facing on deck 5 available. I called Ship Inventory and they changed my cabin with no problems.

So yes, keep checking if the cabin you want becomes available. Good luck.

thanks so much!  Looks like it will be worth the time and effort to keep checking 😊

  6. Is it possible to change the cabin I have been upgraded to after booking Club Orange?

I purchased Club Orange for an upcoming cruise in April 2022. I booked an obstructed balcony then upgraded to a regular balcony cabin of my choice. I would have chosen an aft-facing balcony but there were none available.

If an aft-facing balcony becomes available prior to sailing, can I call ship services and have them change my CO upgrade to the aft balcony?

  7. I knew the specific cabin I wanted to be upgraded to, so I contacted my PCC and he booked the lowest category, added CO and upgraded to my cabin of choice all at once. Nothing else for me to do. When factoring in the cost of CO, I ended up with the cabin I wanted and the CO benefits for about CDN $350 pp less than if I had booked my preferred cabin without CO. Well worth it for me!
