  1. skynight....that could very well be, especially for those working cruisers that can only take a week off. We have been retired for a while and really enjoy the longer cruises.
  2. My DH and I did the Hawaii cruise RT Seattle twice this year. The cruise that departed Sept 30th was not full at full capacity, which may be why Princess is pulling out of that port.
  3. You do not lose your assigned seat.
  4. My DH and I have completed 30+ cruises with Princess. We always try to book a mini suite on Dolphin Deck next to, or near the elevators. We have never, ever had a problem with noise. A few times we ended up center between elevators. That is where we heard the noise.... kids race running and screaming to get to the cabin or the elevator.
  5. Princess Plus has now added: “NEW: 2 casual dining meals.” What does this mean?
  6. MountainEER74: I love your spread sheet...well done and very useful in my opinion.
  7. We have completed 30 cruises with Princess. When Club Class premiered years ago we gave it a try and loved it and now book it every time. We like the center mini suites and the comfortable dining arrangements. The dining staff have always been friendly and provided wonderful service.
  8. Nini....thank you for the much appreciated info on sensor location. Hope we don't encounter your room steward!
  9. We experienced these very annoying sensor lights on the Diamond Princess last year and found them to be a real nuisance. Will be on the Crown in Sept. We have 2 questions: 1. Have any of you encountered a room steward who would not block the sensor lights, i.e., can we depend on that? 2. If need be, where exactly should we look for the sensor lights in the closet?
  10. It is a wonderful program; we have done it many times.
  11. Thank you for that information. I am disappointed but will adjust for it.
  12. I don't understand what that means. Our cruise is 4 months away.
  13. Neal...how long before your cruise did you apply for Port Valet? We have a Princess cruise out of Seattle in early Oct, 5 months away. The website offers advanced reservations, but our ship is not listed. The two Princess ships that they list will not be in Seattle at all during our cruise time. We have used PV many times w/o a problem. It is a wonderful program. We have always booked on board the ship. Advanced reservations are fairly new. We would love to take advantage of that.
  14. We learned early on in our 40-year history of cruising to check account regularly. On our last Princess cruise, #30, we were billed for photos. We never had one picture taken. Rather than deal with the front desk we went right to the photo dept. We talked with two wonderful employees who quickly found who these photos belonged to and took all charges off our bill. Quick and excellent service.
  15. When one books a shore excursion on the Princess website, is OBC automatically used for payment, or do you need to contact Princess directly to make that happen?
  16. What is the earliest that one can send this info? I would love to book shore excursions now for our Sept cruise.
  17. We have completed 30 cruises with Princess. Our last cruise was in January on the Sapphire. There was a change in our cabin that we did not like. At night if one of us got up to use the restroom, floor lights next to the wall would turn on, probably to guide our way. We found it to be very annoying. We use a flashlight for that. Is there some way to disable this? We will be on the Crown in Sept and are not looking forward to the bedtime lighting system.
  18. I am in the same position for an upcoming loop cruise. I have my certified birth certificate, but my current last name is different due to marriage. I have my original marriage certificate with my maiden name on it (same as birth name.) Will that work?
  19. Sea Hag……...thank you for the information about Port Valet’s earliest time of use. I had forgotten that. We have changed flights based on that and from finding out that Monday mornings are very busy at SeaTac! We are going on a later flight in the afternoon so that we can have Port Valet take care of our luggage. As seniors every little bit helps.
  20. We are disembarking the Crown in Seattle in Oct. Our flight is at 11:25 AM. As that is early, we have booked transfers through Princess, we bought our airline tickets through Princess. We will take advantage of the Port Valet program if offered and so should you. With all of that, we will have our boarding pass in hand when we enter SeaTac and will go right to the TSA line, no need to go to the ticket counter. Sticking with the cruise company, we feel that we will have some assurance that we will be helped if there are any obstacles. We use Seattle all the time for cruises and have never had a problem making an early flight, we have always had time to spare.
  21. Did you book your flights through Princess? Port Valet is a good option and well worth the money. They take your luggage to the airport; you will get your boarding passes the evening before departure. This cuts off a lot of time at SeaTac. We always use Seattle Express for airport transfer; they are quick and dependable. We have taken many cruises out of Seattle, some with 1pm return flights and never had a problem. Try not to worry and enjoy your cruise!
