  1. Daily gratuities don't exist on local Australian dollar cruises for Princess, P&O and Carnival. When Princess has a promo that includes "crew appreciation", it is irrelevant to their Australian cruises. The plus package gives you drinks package, internet and a couple of recent additions of "special" desserts and a fitness class or two. The premier package adds on a few more extras. In the US, the premier package includes "crew appreciation", but that is already built into the basic fares in Australia.
  2. I think they will be content to finish the season with a dirty bum. With the final NZ cruise skipping the fiords & BOI, that is probably something they will take care of in Singapore, as it looks like they have a couple of weeks in drydock there from 17th March.
  3. We had rellos that did a Pacific cruise on Canberra in 1975. They bought us back some souvenirs, and I scored a sailor hat and a wooden sword with Suva engraved on it. I thought they were weird, and much preferred the caravanning stuff my grandparents collected in their travels. I guess I had no connection at the time .... but I still have the sword. I didn't hang on to much stuff from way back then. I did note that prices for insides haven't changed much in nearly 40 years. All overseas travel was aspirational stuff way back then. PS: My early easter holidays rotated between Sand Bar and Long Jetty.
  4. I thought it may have been a past name for Isle of Pines, but that is also shown in another itinerary.
  5. The shuttles tow a luggage trailer, maxi taxis do not. Maxi Taxi for 4 adults plus suitcases, no worries. For 6 passengers, it is going to depend on how much luggage you are all carrying to whether you and your luggage will fit into a single maxi taxi.
  6. Yes, easy peasy. For the OP, 6 adults without concession is around $110. IF they can fit into a single maxi taxi, they should be well in front
  7. It is hit & miss. Some are just really funny people. Alas, you can't book knowing who the acts will be.
  8. That photo is very rarely looked at, and even then more likely from someone holding it up in front of them to get a bit of feigned interest. More so, I think they want that photo taken to support a positive test. After all, they are losing passengers they can't replace and giving them a full credit based on phone call. I think for anyone calling their covid hotline, they could be asked to email that photo. I hope the comedy was funny.
  9. All those years, the red & black funnels on Cunard. Who would have thought it was a hidden signal.
  10. When some people drivel, it also runs down their chin.
  11. She got her scraping earlier in the season, and would have been at anchor rather than drifting. Good to read they were just filling in time, as it is one of the stranger ship tracks I have seen. They are back on course and cranking out 8 knots toward Dunedin.
  12. Looks like Beth has finally gotten around to doing Uncle Bully's eggs. Jake the Muss has a lot to answer for.
  13. The weird part is that her bow is pointed SE, but she has been drifting SW and currently NW. The lack of other vessels also suggests she isn't in trouble but is now well behind schedule. Dare I suggest she is on a rescue mission looking for something/someone in the water.
  14. Eclipse has spent several hours off-course and appears to have been drifting for the past few hours. The tracking looks very unusual. Medevac? Butt scraping? Malfunction?
  15. Unlike the airport, there is no individual processing of passports in the cruise terminals. They just sight your passport and collect your arrivals card. Border Force process the ships passenger manifest prior to clearing the ship for disembark. That then allows, depending on the ship, to usher infected passengers through the back door. Borderforce, quarantine, terminal staff and other passengers do not want to interact with the "plague", so it is all kept separate. Once out of the terminal, they are free to roam freely again.
  16. But Lyle was referring to good bourbon. Jack & Coke are a great mix, but I like the good ones on the rocks.
  17. Because each state numbers their own roads, and it is only "national highways" that are given a unique highway number. But yes, Q7 would make some sense.
  18. I have never been on the newer M7 airport toll road. That would indeed be quicker into the city, but with a $5.30 toll added to the fare. Both time & distance are a factor on a taxi fare. When staying in a hotel along Kingsford-Smith Drive, our cab fare from airport to hotel has been near to identical to our cab fare from hotel to BICT. Maybe we were lucky enough to miss all of the trucks. It was an unappealing experience, but the traffic was flowing.
  19. Only those with a confirmed positive aboard. Even then, if there is no reason to test anyone, there can be no confirmed covid aboard.
  20. When used to water down bourbon, I can taste the difference for the first 2 mouthfuls, then it is not noticeable for the rest of the night. And of course, some insist on Coke, but Aussie Coke tastes different to Indonesian cruise ship coke cans and even more different to cruise ship post mix Coke on Princess.
  21. News to me, I thought it was all about wearing a black or black & red ring. You are making a lot of Red Hatters nervous.
  22. That is worth a shot. We have friends who have never cruised with Carnival, who were able to book that cruise over the phone for an extra $50pp. The promo code is "QLF" and I believe it ends on 31st Jan.
