  1. I’m seeing next summer rates for annual cruise w/GD far higher than what I paid this year. $2,800 for an inside 3 night on allure ouch mr is having sticker shock. I feel why not book it if I see a cabin open that works for us. Want to accurately present my case to him. Is the following correct? have been operating under assumption that I can book a cruise & adjust, as long as it’s not a NR rate Holding onto possibility I could modify it (before final pmt) if I do see a discounted rate (military, sr, resident, even Black Friday deal) & then owe lessor $ if I do jump on a NR rate, believe I then would only qualify for OBC if prior to final pmt & ability to move up in category after that time TIA
  2. OP Perhaps wait to See what’s offered on the black Friday sale
  3. Also, own several DVC contracts. Retired, down every few months. RCCL now gets our cruising $ since I can book two (or more) for price of one DC The 4 day sailings fit nicely onto park trips for us. did Indy in July, allure will be in Nov & just booked Utopia for Dec ‘24.
  4. Booked our first today, seems like such an interesting concept when balcony pricing is out of reach.
  5. Wish it would come back. At this point we are happy enough to have a drink or two a day and the two bottles of wine we carry on board. TBH, that’s far more than we normally drink at home. Have decided you don’t have to booze to cruise lol.
  6. Not sure why I’m thinking it…doesn’t reservation options for shows usually pop up the 1st week of the month prior to a cruise. For me, If it’s a late cruise leaving last few days of the month (November), had thot early October?
  7. Indy, we loved it in the past. Fit the bill to add onto a WDW trip. Had to laugh, cost more for 3 than a 9 night of Adv of seas for the mr & me in May thanks!
  8. Decided to buy the refreshment pkg for our tween GD for upcoming 3 night cruise She’s not much for pop/soda, will do mostly bottled water, juice in AM & mocktails Three questions she asked: 1. other than at a show or grabbing a waiter on the pool deck or at Coco cay…Can she walk up to a bar (solo), card in hand & get ‘served’ 2. can she order a bottle of water with said mocktail at same time or is there a period of time she has to wait. Said she likes to drink them together🤔 3. Is there a list somewhere of mocktails available or is it basically any frozen drink without the booze? She wanted to study up on options
  9. Now know why they had the loungers in that area on May Adv of seas tied down to railings with a rope.
  10. We go to MB at least once each year. After beach/golfing, we are so sticky-sweaty, we cannot wait to shower up. Same as most cruising port days or sea days up on deck. On recent 9 night cruise on AoS, there were more than a few couples in line for my time dining that appear to have forgotten showering pre dinner. washy washy, not just your hands! I don’t get it…the soap & water is included in the fare, it’s a wonderful opportunity to take the longest shower and not worry about the water bill Could care less what others wear in a dining situation. Clean is a nice idea. You either are the sort wherein you don’t want to be ‘under dressed’ or you’re not. People are entitled to their own mindset. Kindly, give a moment’s thought if you are a hot, sweaty mess & will be in forced, close quarters with others on board what we now pack has certainly skewed into non-formal over the years. We’ve evolved Fortunate enough to have a lovely wardrobe. The ‘resort wear’ travels with me for both cruising & land trips in warmer climates. Some Jersey separates & sundresses, I’m good to go The mr takes a couple of tommy bahama shirts & (as at MB) nice golf wear including polos, long pants & shorts. All wicking sort of material. A bonus it travels well. No, not the same outfit he golfed in that day either. Although those dinner outfits often morph into the next day’s golf wear. He’s comfy, I’m happy = a win
  11. Same, prefer south MGM resorts for proximity to McClarren
  12. Never sailed on Mariner, sorry i do think the ship was very clean and in great condition, considering her age. Yes, chops directly across, near piano man & elevators table players seemed to be having a great time, never really looked crowded in that section. It’s an elevated area vs the slot area In Vegas one of our fav casinos to while away the afternoons was at the old imperial palace, playing low stakes with their wonderful dealer entertainers. Believe ‘fat Elvis’ there too? Not sure it’s been a minute. Not that I don’t appreciate old school style casinos, especially with low table wagers. Even Ellis island now & again. however, IMO, do think AoS Casino sorely needs redesigned to improve personal space in the slot area. Perhaps paying homage to the best of there?
  13. Agree. Have sailed her twice. Current crew is top notch. Didn’t like the CD & staff as much as most. To his credit, he was everywhere lol. Not sure when he slept SMH @ those who swear the MDR food is awful. Zero complaints from us on sailing a month ago, although we chose wisely. Even the WJ our last night was fine, well executed Greek offerings. casino is dreadful, so crowded and crazy Smokey. We went early before it got busy to make our nightly donation will say, with a missed port due to medical emergency, just too many sea days for my liking on a 9 day. wouldn’t complain in a bigger ship with more to occupy us. We mini-golfed several times and watched flow rider & ice show twice. Comedians, mostly a miss for us this go round still, if the price & itinerary were right, would book it yet again
  14. We’re booked end of nov 4 day. Had wondered same thing Thinking some entertainment will necessarily be dropped with possibility of running “E-ticket” shows in different venues at same time I.e. choose wisely OP great start to your TR!
  15. After several drops, it was eventually priced at $80 for our April cruise. We passed Upcoming cruise in early July is our GDs first time on island. She’s not quite old enough to enjoy without an adult. For 3 pp, was forking over $500+. Was, I just cancelled mine & plan on having several solo hours to chill at beach (poor me, quiet time to relax on the beach😁 ). I figure she & DH will hit it early, then revisit it again later. It’s so prominent on the island, difficult to ignore, wasn’t about to have GD giving me 🥺 if I hadn’t booked it ps skipping it again for Dec cruise as there is enough to keep the mr & me otherwise occupied
  16. We sailed her in May, first out of FLL after Galveston. Our first sailing since we had since our one booked the end of March 2020 was cancelled a couple of weeks out We missed the amenities of a bigger ship. However, this trip was all about the itinerary for us, no complaints other than missing st Thomas due to medical emergency. If itinerary was appealing & price was right, would gladly book again I posted a few pics of dinner in the MDR in big thread here, discussing menu changes. Not quite a foodie, do enjoy fine dining. So much moaning & groaning here as to changes was a more than a bit wary. set my expectations accordingly and was more than satisfied. Smaller, older ship = basic entertainment IMO. There was always something going on. Ice show was very good, caught it twice. Comedians so-so, got a few laughs. Lounge band (across from guest services) was very good. Music trivia there fun, just very crowded. There and at all venues. Ship sailed full. We got there early, others already in seats from previous activities casino has poor flow, too many machines jammed in there. Passengers often not recognizing the no smoking area. Others cluelessly plopping in seats at popular machines watching their companions play next to them. We took to making our daily deposit early when it was less crowded early on was able to get OV seat in solarium if depositing myself by 7 am. Surprised the last few sea days that they were seemingly staked out by daybreak? Those days, adapted & went to shaded area at main pool, turning the lounger. There were plenty of seats on upper decks available throughout the days as far as I could tell staff is top notch on this ship, engaging & very enthusiastic. Several we spoke to shared they were absolutely thrilled to be back to work, and it showed
  17. No. TBH the people ckg us in were confused about it. The girls upstairs in the lounge said they rarely see it happen.
  18. Haven’t seen it drop below $89 for any of the cruises I have pending since last November what appears to fluctuate is the price of the CC waterpark, both up & down assume it’s due to their metrics/ship demographics as to age. Nearly half the price for a 9 day cruise this month vs a 3 day one 4th of July week. assume the booze pkg priced on same principle
  19. Recently off a 9 night on adventure of seas. Lovely, complimentary upgrade at pier to “a suite”, turned out to be an accessible near the royal suite…nice to be escorted up to the suite waiting area & cookies 🙂 no complaints re the food in WJ or MDR. Saw many pp ordering two entrees, did have to finish the first one before second delivered. Ordered two appetizers each night, without any issue. One brought out at a time. the mr ordered the chops fillet a couple of nights and the lobster tail (small but, tasty) once See below for some Some favorites: prime rib (med rare), med well steak (small but, well seasoned), tenderloin (med rare), lobster tail add on to the steak, beef carpaccio (yum), fillet (med), shrimp cocktail & chicken parm (I’m picky re Italian, it was good, not great). last night did WJ for dinner, wasn’t feeling dressing up. Was surprised to see Greek items. The Gyro (combo beef/lamb, was a treat), along with the stuffed grape leaves…the chef knew his stuff there! onion soup, just not the same. Tried two different nights, far too salty mentioned we’d skip Mexican night to head waiter as can’t tolerate cilantro, he arranged for a dinner salad and tasty grilled chicken breast. Much appreciated.
  20. Is it possible that line was the MTD that didn’t make reservations?
  21. Not sure if my son watching my dog (an android phone) might be an issue. In that case, could leave him one of our iPhones. we always just did buy pkg thru ATT/cellular at sea in the past. We’re not exactly techies. Seems like I may be missing something trying to figure this out for our sailing on the Adventure of Seas (starlink) Please, anyone, feel free to correct my notes below, cribbed from plowing thru threads here: *we don’t need to purchase a pkg thru ATT any longer to just text on ship. Can add the $10 one in ports if desired. *need to buy the Voom internet pkg before sailing, then… *turn on Wi-Fi calling (is it necessary for those I want to contact on land also do so?) *when onboard, turn on both airplane mode & WiFi. *connect to voom account, then can text and call those at home (i think???)
  22. Well, that’s good to hear! I don’t expect gourmet, just well prepared food Thanks
  23. Oh, Please post. We’re u on the adventure of seas? Curious as to days 8 & 9’s offerings. Believe formal night should be the 9th?
  24. Seems like you’ve put some thought into this. Will definitely defer to your familiarity re hogs It is a lovely pic, almost inspirational. always nice to see somebody spread a little ⛅️, even if unintentionally.
