  1. Boil 'n bake made me laugh. To me, it smells burnt when it comes back. Even in the upper suites when it comes back all nice on hangers, it's still boil 'n bake, then under the broiler it goes.
  2. So, you don't think the chat on the Celebrity website is Celebrity?
  3. It was through their chat. The first response was "we don't know" and I asked if Celebrity didn't know what was happening on their ships, could they point me in the direction of someone that did. We shall see if it comes true.
  4. Thank you for waiting. As per checking with our onboard team, on your cruise will not be any private event for park West on the Sky Lounge venue. They have it schedule only for Sep 19. I got this response when I pushed about my 9/8 cruise. I'll have to get back to you in a couple of weeks and let you know if it was true.
  5. I don't think it's an inconvenience. If a pipe broke leaving the room unusable, that's an inconvenience. This is Celebrity double dipping. Knowing they are not going to provide their passengers with a venue that is prominently advertised in their literature as the perfect venue to take in the daytime views with a drink...
  6. I think it is predictable if Celebrity informed passengers ahead of time. I leave on the Eclipse on Sunday the 8th and my app states the Sky Lounge is open to me starting at 1 PM everyday. It doesn't say "closed for a private event". Celebrity doesn't really owe you anything. Do you include food, drink, lodging in that? If I get to the pier and they say we don't owe you anything, I just turn around and walk away?
  7. I live in South Boston. Everyone's advice is very good. I would recommend staying in the Seaport area. The cost of commuting around Boston is also expensive and you'll eat up your savings in commute fees pretty quick. That is probably the busiest weekend of the year in Boston. It's a holiday weekend for us and there are many colleges that do Parent's weekend and lots of weddings in addition to the events previously mentioned here. We live about a mile from the Port and have pulled suitcases on several occasions. If you are physically able and the weather cooperates, the roads are safe and easy to navigate. Most times a mile walk in Boston is shorter than a mile drive, time wise.
  8. She heads out several times a year and it is a great take from Castle Island if you're in the area when she does her turnaround.
  9. Is there a shop on the Viking ocean ships that sells European sunscreen? TIA
  10. I'm not sure if there are standards for all sommeliers, but there is a place near us in Boston that offers a weekend course with an exam at the end. 90% of the participants pass the exam and you are then a level 1 sommelier.
  11. You don't just feel cheated, you are cheated. The premium drinks and the premium drink package on Celebrity are very expensive.
  12. I don't know what he did. He told me to leave it and he would take care of it. I always take a pic of what I'm sending out to be sure I get it all back.
  13. If privacy isn't an issue and you confirm you can get a rollaway, you'll be fine. There is plenty of room! If the weather is cooperative, the deck chairs are great for sleeping.
  14. I find it depends on your butler. Our last butler didn't even have me fill out a slip. I just left everything in the morning and got it back the next morning. Just ask for what you want/need. In the higher suites they are very accommodating.
  15. Over 40 cruises, but first with Viking Ocean. We have a 2:00 check-in time. We will be there a bit early. I know there is no guarantee that the room will be done, but I was hoping to use the spa facilities for a bit. Will they be open? Any issues getting on the ship early? I know some of the larger cruise lines ask that you closely adhere to your embarkation time. TIA
  16. This is a great recap and your pictures are breathtaking. We were on in March and loved every minute. Most pictures don't capture the beauty of this place, but yours certainly do. Bravo.
  17. Ascent. We were on for 3 weeks. All in move up rooms. I will say, each week was a bit different with what we received. First week we moved up to a Sky Suite and was supposed to bring basic drinks and wifi, we received premium for both. The second week we moved up to an Edge Villa and they credited us back for the basic drinks and wifi we had purchased and we received premium for both. The third week, we booked an oceanview while onboard and then was upgraded to a Sky Suite and didn't receive any drinks or wifi. It's no wonder people are confused.
  18. Yes and you could get drinks in the Retreat Bar and Retreat Sundeck, without a package.
  19. We were able to get them in Retreat Lounge and Sun Deck, but not Luminae.
  20. The promo code you gave me for Hawaii was better than the FV424 I had received in the mail. TY
  21. Looking to book LA/Hawaii/LA for January 2025. Any codes work for those dates? TIA
  22. It is confusing and inconsistent. I won bid up on three suites on a B2B2B and each one was different. Go figure. We had purchased basic wifi, classic drink package and prepaid grats for the first two weeks. The last week we added while on the ship and it had no extras. Sky Suite first upgrade, we received, without extra charge, premium drinks and wifi. We did pay the difference in tips (we actually paid extra tips for all three weeks). My understanding is that this is not how it is supposed to happen. The second week in an Edge Villa we also got premium drinks and wifi on several devices, without paying an up-charge. We were able to eat in any restaurant without charge. The third week we moved from a OV to a SS and we received no drink package or wifi. The things that remained consistent, there were no charges for drinks on the retreat deck or in the retreat lounge. We didn't order drinks in Luminae, but we would have been charged for them week three. I'm not sure I clarified anything. I lived it and still can't figure it out. Worse case, you have Elite Happy Hour, breakfast, drinks on the sundeck and lounge. If you need Wifi you can purchase it once on the ship.
  23. Can never get my mind around this thought process. Celebrity is following the terms you agreed to. In no way is this a ripoff. Just think about how good you would feel if the price went up. I doubt you'd be calling and requesting to pay more.
  24. We boarded the Ascent on the 14th of January for three weeks and haven't received an email.
