  1. Really? I guess you don't mind the additional pay for the men who have to haul all these extra trash cups to the landfills? Or the extra land purchase for more landfills/disposal sites?

9 Billion Keurig Cups went into the garbage: http://mashable.com/2015/03/07/k-cups-landfill/#C74hPtpQWsqV

    http://action.storyofstuff.org/sign/amount-k-cups-have-been-thrown-landfills-could-wrap-around-planet-over-11-times

Hardly a non existant problem. There are now reusable units to lower the waste levels.

Still a non-issue in the grand scheme of things. We are a nation of 300+ million people and we create trash. 100's of billions of coffee cups were disposed along with everything else we use daily such as plastic bottles and soda cans. It happens.

  2. but, the luggage was ON the ship, did they get to the ship 1/2 hour before departure? Sorry but this makes no sense. Get an officer or security person, and retrieve the luggage. Most people arrive several hours early. This is why we never leave U.S. soil without a passport which is either in my computer bag or my wife's purse.

Of course it makes sense.....there are thousands of bags below deck during embarkation. It isn't as simple as strolling down there and grabbing it.

  3. Be advised my son was wearing dress shorts with nice shirt and he was told no entry on Spirit ...so do wear slacks for main dining room ...it is not as freestyle as you think

We did go to other dining room ...Truthfully I was surprised by this ....so even dress shorts were not welcome

How can someone who I assume is an experienced cruiser by your number of posts on here be 'surprised' by this. It is printed in the dailies and standard practice on their published policies that the aft dining room has a slightly higher dress code. I wouldn't have been surprised by this even on my first cruise, it is spelled out.

  4. Follow the cruise line dress code....it says shorts are appropriate dress in the most dining rooms and specialty restaurants. On the EPIC that means the Manhattan Room and Le Bistro would be the higher Smart Casual.

    From NCL;

Dress cruise casual anytime during the day, in the buffet and in most specialty restaurants. For women, it includes summer and casual dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, shorts, jeans and tops. Khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are fine for men. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. Cruise casual is also allowed day and night on embarkation day

Wear smart casual if you are eating dinner in the aft main dining room (our more formal dining room) and in Le Bistro on cruises longer than five days.

  5. The port you are leaving from has little impact on the rest of the cruise in my opinion. You should focus on where you want to go and the details of the ship. As a general rule anything leaving from the Gulf is going on a Mexico run. If you want something else then look at other ports further south.

  6. Don't be concerned with location as it relates to motion, you cannot perceive a difference. When the ship is rocking to the point people are feeling the effects it is doing it all over, no safe space.

I would take the aft balcony if it was affordable.

  7. If it is none of our business what NCL does with the money, then it would seem prudent to request refund of the DSC and give the money to those who provide service as LMB suggests.

The servers could then tip out to those behind the scene who enabled them to provide service to guests.

That would assure guests that their money is distributed as they want.

....and that would be stupid since there is a process in place to accommodate all that with no complications.

I hope they don't change a policy to please the people who think they must make everything their business.

  8. Thank you for your perspective. Instead of Bonine last night I took visteral and it helped a bunch. I only woke a couple of times to rocking and swaying. What does your wife do to combat motion sickness?

She recently had good luck with the Dramamine All Day Less Drowsy formula.

  9. Don't put so much credence on felt motion as it relates to deck location. When the ship is moving the entire thing is moving, you will notice no perceivable difference between deck 9 or deck 4. My wife is very prone to motion sickness, when things get bad there simply isn't a location we can go to that makes things better. Not once have we been in rough seas on the upper decks and returned to our cabin on a lower deck and found any difference.

  10. Just sailed the Liberty 7-Feb-16 for the 3rd. time, and noticed these things that are now History.

    1) No more chocolate at night on your rack.

    2) No more items in your bathroom, just bar soap and the 2 liquids in the shower.

    3) Promenade deck Sushi at 5pm. is history.

    4) Maitre' D no longer comes to any table on your cruise.

    5) No more table cloths, or neatly folded napkins at diner. Table cloths are only formal nights now.

    6) Pass guest get together's, with drinks and hors d'oeuvres History! Was told only for Carnival Platinum members now.

I am pleased by all those examples except the Sushi.

Less meaningless candy to throw away, less bathroom clutter, less meal interruptions, table cloths are moving to a thing of the past and I never attended any past guest event.

  11. That's because if you looked at your Freestyle Daily, the Tropicana Room is cruise casual. There is no "formal MDR" on the Getaway. Same on the Breakaway and Escape.

Le Bistro and Ocean Blue are only smart casual restaurants.

    That says it all.

I don't understand how people have such a hard time understanding the dress code especially those who are still apparently confused post-cruise. It is easily found on the website and it posted daily on the listing that details the dining opportunities.

  12. We had the good pizza on Sensation recently, but last March we were on the Paradise and could not even eat it. A common sight in the Lido was plates of pizza with one or two bites and the rest left on the plate.

Does anyone know what pizza the Elation out of Jacksonville has. We will be on it in a few months.

Hmmmm....I was on the Paradise in June and saw no such thing. The pizza was the same pizza I have had on any other Carnival ship.

  13. I have been on each of the big 3 several times. They all do some things well, some things okay, and some not as good as other lines. However, I have found the experiences remarkably similar and certainly could not pick a clear winner if you asked. I still shop by value and am willing to cruise on any of them.
