No reservations needed for complimentary restaurants. Resort casual including shorts are the standard on the Breakaway except in the specialty restaurants Ocean Blue and Le Bistro.

I only know of one instance where an acquaintance had to disembark in Mexico one morning to fly home due to a death in the family. They had travel letters by late afternoon.

I have booked a GTY well over a dozen times. Many times I got much more than I paid for even into the next class, other times I ended up in a cabin in line with my bargain fare. Just be happy you are on a cruise and be willing to be satisfied with whatever you get.

Much better system, I have mentioned it to my wife in the past. Put the hanger out for privacy and simply remove it when it isn't needed. No flipping cards or worrying that someone else will flip it.

I normally do for a server who brings me the drinks. I usually go with the included tip for the bartenders unless they go out of their way for us.

8-12 years ago I could do 7 days in an inside for under $400 with a little shopping as long as it wasn't peak summer season. My lowest was in 2009 which was $299pp for a 7 day in an inside. Those prices are hard to find these days except on isolated weeks.

You may see discounts on the lesser ships if the route is flooded with all the flagships. They will still fill up though due to pricing flexibility.

#2 is a common itinerary that you can find ships going to several times a week. I'm not sure why some think it is so exotic, my last 3 have been that variation and we did everything we could this time for something different.

If 2 people select 2 different rooms in this instance they would pay $2,400-2,600 instead of $1,798 so they'd have to shell out about $800-1,000 for that extra cabin.

LOL....I think you are so invested in this you are incapable of entertaining any points that contradict your already formed opinion.

I plainly said UNDER THE CURRENT GTY RATES it would cost 2 people traveling together the same no matter if they chose 1 cabin or 2 since there is no single supplement.

I further explained if NCL expanded that policy outside of the GTY rates it would allow people traveling together to intentionally book connecting cabins with 1 occupant each since there would be no additional cost. The single supplement prevents that because it makes it more expensive. It really isn't needed with a GTY because people know the cabins will not be connecting and that in itself dissuades the practice.

Booking 2 cabins for 2 people rather than 1 cabin for 2 people will never be cheaper, and it's not what i'm advocating at all.

 

You apparently don't understand what Beerman2 is saying.....

It would be the exact same price using your current example with the GTYs. Two people in a GTY balcony is $1298 or put each in their own cabin for $649pp since there is no single supplement. Most couples would not do that because they have no control over where the cabins are located.

However, give people the ability to choose their own room on a regular rate with no single supplement then all one has to do is find 2 connecting cabins and book 1 person in each.....double the space for the same price.

There is nothing to do in Falmouth. It's basically like a Second rate ovho rios. All the excursions are in Ocho Rios and an hour drive or more away.

 

This itinery stinks. It's like the worst of the worst Western Caribbean islands. Most of the time the ship cannot even go into great stirrup cat because the waves are too big.

 

I totally get the hurricaine, but it's like NCL just took the leftover ports that no one wants and threw them together into a cruise.

If the port is closed NCL have to cancel the cruise and refund all money for the cruise.

 

They might offer another cruise from for example Miami but I can't see that they can just move the embarkation to another port and refuse to refund money.

I'm aware of that. My point was the industry standard is double occupancy so you should look at their policy of allowing singles to book their GTY without supplement as a major bonus instead of focusing on the fares where they follow the standard.

Wondering why so many consider these ports as "armpits of Caribbean"??? We stopped at Falmouth on our first Celebrity Cruise three years ago. We went to a small beach club and it was amazing!! Grand Cayman is one of my favorite places as well. I have enjoyed Cozumel both times we went, and Costa Maya was enjoyable too! I never felt I was in danger in any of these ports. Have things changed that much in three years for Jamaica?

Some people are just dramatic. Something like this gives them a stage and the drama queen comes out.

Be happy they still offer the GTY as a single. Most break all cabins down as double occupancy.

Hi there! We are on the Escape starting November 25th and our itinerary was switched to the one above. It was originally St. Thomas, Tortuga and Nassau. I'd prefer the new itinerary with an extra sea day but this is fine as well! I'm just glad we didn't get switched solely to the Western itinerary as our last two cruises were there.

I agree. We went western the last 3 and booked this one primarily because it wasn't western. It is a good compromise I guess.

I prefer the 3 Sea Days versions. Heck, they can head away from land - find some smooth seas - and run circles for the week. There's more open on the ship that way! :D

I agree. They could skip Cozumel for all i care. The ship is a destination for me.

We had the same itinerary for the following week and were switched to:

day 1 depart

day 2 at sea

day 3 Falmouth, Jamaica

day 4 George Town, Grand Cayman

day 5 Cozumel, Mexico

day 6 at sea

day 7 Great Stirrup Cay

day 8 return

Some people are just miserable with life, that misery continues on vacation.
