We boarded the Sapphire in San Pedro on Friday. Fire doors ere closed but you could access the hallway through the “emergency” bypass. Didn’t matter though because our medallions would not open our cabin door for us to drop off our carry ons. Cabins were not ready until about 1:45.

Yep, they did. Our regular waiter insisted the puffs were real butter and I insisted they were tasteless (crap - but I didn't say that). The assistant restaurant manager for our area brought some real butter pats.
Lucky you! 🤣

@beg3yrs also on the Discovery now. Just ask the waiters to bring you pats of butter instead, and they will do it.
We are currently on the Sapphire. They have the yellow blocks of butter in the buffet but we have asked 3 different times in the dining room for real butter to replace the “puffs” and been told that is all they have. My husband is trying to devise a plan to bring his own from the buffet. Just kidding!!
I try to give myself small dietary goals while cruising and avoid the rolls at dinner. Made it 28 days last cruise and hoping I can hang in there for this current 32-day!
I agree this is a first world problem and just another Princess consistent inconsistency!

Former swimmer, now avid shallow water exerciser. Shallow, as opposed to deep, meaning about shoulder height water, so standing in about 4 to 4.5 feet of water.
Sailing on Discovery Princess - what I've learned from helpful posts here, is that there are no pools that contain that depth - not even if they're slope-bottomed.
But, in water over 4.5 feet, I can use a noodle threaded between my legs, and that way exercise in deep water.
Has anyone brought - or seen someone bring - a noodle to port and successfully get it on board? I've done this on Oceania, but am not sure about Princess.
We are taking some inflatable pool noodles for the first time after suggestions on this board. While we won’t use them in the pool but for snorkeling, I can’t see a problem in the pool. The inflatable ones are easier to pack!

Queen! Growing up as a child with 7 siblings, I’ve never had my own bed.
Being married over 52 years, hope I never do!

Gloriously cool in the cabin when we returned from Pompeii.
New thermostats (at least since the previous-newest ship I was on was the Majestic). It’s a touchpad, so don’t press hard. Left side is manual or auto fan speed, with the + and - controlling the manual speed. Temp on the right, along with off/on.
You are such a wealth of information! My husband just ordered this because, of course, he needs it!

Wow! 800 posts! Biggest Live I’ve ever done. My maiden 7-day on the Majestic only had 323. Wonder if we can hit a thousand…
We can do it!! This Live is awesome! We have 3 Sun cruises next year and your report has been so helpful. Even though there are things that make me go, hmmmmm, we will get onboard very informed!
Thanks for spending your vacation keeping us along with you!

The mini suites on Sun will always have the sofa by the balcony. The alternating part of the configuration will be bed by the bath then closet and desk section or closet and desk section then bed. We prefer the closet and desk section by the bath as it opens up the room and you don't run into the bed immediately. The Sun cabins are quite narrow.
Cabin 12623 is a regular mini suite described on deck plans as “sofa by entrance”
Seems they alternate

We are immensely enjoying your trip! Thanks for taking us along!
Quick question - I usually bring along a large ceramic mug because I just can’t drink my hot tea from a plastic mug. On the Sky last year, the buffet had switched to ceramic mugs and on the Island last year, I was able to snag one from the coffee bar in the buffet.
Are ceramic mugs available in the buffet?
Thanks so much!
Smooth sailing!

OMG! Really? A monte cristo? Almost worth dumping my favorite chicken korma. And I do like their cobb salad
Don’t get too excited about the “Monte Cristo”
Photo credit to @Bimmer09 - this is his Monte Cristo on the Ruby earlier this year.
Doesn’t look quite right!

Yes that's why I asked our PVP and he said we would lose our OBC if we re-fare. Sounds like as usual there is no consistency with Princess.
The only consistency with Princess is the inconsistency 🥴

@Ken the cruiser - what a fabulous trip report!! This is on our bucket list!
We will be onboard the Sapphire Princess in April/May for a 32-day cruise and cannot wait!!
If it’s not too much trouble, can you check to see if Coke Zero is available?
Thanks so much!

We have always traveled with Meclizine just in case but rarely use it.
On our last cruises - Baltics and Iceland, I also took a Relief Band and was so glad I did!
Some rough waters in the North Sea made me glad I had it!
Where are you cruising? We’ve always had smooth sailing in the Caribbean if that’s where you are headed.
Enjoy your cruise! 🛳️🛟⚓️🚢

Holds are gone online. When talking to my PVP, apparently they are allowed to place a hold but only until end of business day. Sounds like that option might be going away for them too.

@Bimmer09 That is the worst looking Monte Cristo sandwich I have ever seen!

Typically, your Medallion will be used on both legs of a B2B.
Since your status will change for the second cruise, I suggest touching base with the Loyalty/Events officer during the first cruise to be sure you get your perks! The Passenger Services Desk should be able to change your Medallions. Some say it’s a matter of putting an Elite sticker over the Platinum one.
