  1. Gerry @ger_77, I am so sorry for the loss of your Uncle. Prayers and thoughts for you and your family. Maxine @AncientWanderer, the center where your DMIL will be sounds great. My DM's has extra services also and she is quite happy there. She plays cards (mostly bridge) about 4/5 days a week and has a regular Wednesday night poker game she attends. It cracks me up because I have to get her rolls of nickels from the bank just for her poker. Question for my Daily friends who posted on Sunday that they had been to Taormina. We have a tour scheduled there that I am really hesitant about because it's listed as strenuous. It visits the town of Castelmola where there are a lot of steps and an uphill walk. Have any of you been there? I'm probably going to cancel this but I am just interested if it is worth it or not. I'd prefer to save my bad hip for another day. 😉 I haven't had any problems like that and I haven't had to clear my browsing history for a few months. It was really bad for me for quite a while. I recently discovered that if I am on my phone I can refresh my screen and things seem to reset. I have had to log back in occasionally. Have a good evening everyone!
  2. @Norseh2o Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!! We married the same year as you and in the same town, just 6 months later. The two of you on your wedding day look so much like our best friends at the time but they were from Oregon. Enjoy your cruise!
  3. Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday! Good collection of days today. We’ve been to some International Museums on our cruises and hopefully we will again in a few weeks. Thank goodness for dishwashers to help with dirty dishes. And I’m very fortunate to have close family members living nearby so we can visit. I’ve made a version of today’s meal suggestion. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/peach-whisky-chicken-2300964 Maybe we can find the wine while we are in Barcelona. It sounds good. Terri @Cruzin Terri — So good to hear your tooth is starting to feel better. BTW, we made reservations at Tapas 2254, it looks really good. Thanks for the recommendation. Your anniversary trip to Barbados sounds great. Julia @JAM37 — sorry about your migraine yesterday and I’m so glad you are better today. Graham @grapau27 — what a shock about your friend’s son. So young and such a young family. Prayers for comfort to the family. @msmayor — I finally caught up with posts from the weekend and it was so nice to hear your daughter is feeling better. I love your idea of nightly meetings with her. I’m sure that’s helping her a lot. Also, thank you to everyone who has posted pictures the past few days of Taormina, Kotor, and Dubrovnik. All three are on our itinerary and will be new to us. I probably won’t be posting regularly for the next month. I have a lot to do in the next 10 days before we leave and then I’m not sure how good the internet will be. Hopefully I can post pictures occasionally. Just know that I care deeply about my Daily family. We are excited but also a bit nervous because of testing logistics. But we’ll get through it, and it might mean missing some touring. Have a great day everyone!
  4. If anyone is interested, I found the date of the the Daily when I asked about Kotor. February 7th. It’s a long thread, 7 pages and I found most of the pictures on page 6.
  5. Sandi, it may sound familiar because a few months ago I asked you if it had ever been a “port of the day”. I was trying to figure out what to do there since we will be there June 11th, the day after Dubrovnik. You told me that it hadn’t but did share pictures and so did Carolyn @Cruising-along and Rich mentioned it was on the list in the future. I remember Carolyn talking about the cat museum too.
  6. Good evening! I loved all the pictures of Dubrovnik. Thanks to everyone who shared. Yes, I’ll skip walking the walls. I think I’ll be like Carolyn @Cruising-along and enjoy the cats. Happy Anniversary @aliaschief & DW! Sandi @StLouisCruisers, for our previous 3 cruises we did rapid antigen tests at CVS with appointments but don’t have that option this time because we are going to Barcelona early and need to test there. Our plans are to check with our hotel first to see if we can arrange testing and have a backup with our purchased EMed tests. From what I’ve read HAL will only test us at the pier if our test results aren’t available yet. In other words, you have to have actively tried to test before getting to the pier. Same thing with coming home. I’m just glad for the EMed tests as a backup.
  7. Thank you Maxine! Yes, we are most definitely looking for a place to eat. Funny, but we arrange what we do around meals. And thanks for the tip about the candied lemon peels! Yum.
  8. I can’t answer the sofa bed question. About Club Orange— no need for purchasing this with a Neptune Suite, it’s automatically part of a Neptune Suite. You need to get your money back on that purchase. You will love it!
  9. Good morning everyone and Happy Monday! We will be in Dubrovnik June 10th so I’ll be reading all the posts and pictures with great interest. We were actually doing some excursion shopping yesterday for Dubrovnik and Kotor and Corfu. We ended up not picking anything yet for Dubrovnik but I did see the walking of the walls and decided against it since I’m so afraid of heights. I saw one of Sandi’s @StLouisCruisers pictures on the wall and know I would have problems. I’m sure there are many other things we can do. Have a great day everyone!
  10. Never have been carded at TJ’s but at Target the only way you can buy alcohol is to have your drivers license scanned on the purchase. Once I forgot and had to run back to the car to get it and then trudge back in.
  11. Good afternoon! I’ll catch up later. Some funnies for today.
  12. Good afternoon! I've been busy with family and trip planning. I wanted to comment on yesterday because I was a medical receptionist and surgery scheduler for most of my career with medical assistant and front desk supervisor thrown in. A receptionist does more than receive patients, most definitely, I ran one alone for 10 years. The hours were horrible. Also, I love grain bowls and have a salmon one from Pioneer Woman that is a favorite. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/salmon-and-veggie-grain-bowl-3409067 I think I need to make that this weekend! Today's days are to be celebrated for sure! I have suffered with Chronic Fatigue since having Valley Fever and Mono in 1985. My naps are what keep me going. Nurses are so important. I was never good at a limerick but enjoyed hearing them. The MM quote is sad, she was always looking for love. I like quesadilas but not sure about Italian flavors. I prefer Mexican flavors. The drink sounds delightful and so does the wine. Never been to the port but thanks for the pictures. Have a great day everyone!
  13. Thank you for the links for the two episodes. Quite fun! She is quite a character too.
  14. Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday! Great days to celebrate today. We like to eat at local restaurants and yesterday we had pizza and salad at one. Sadly one of our favorites closed recently. They never recovered after the shutdown. I really need to dust to clean up the room, thanks for the reminder. I have always thought I have good intuition. I will pass on the meal suggestion. I love sweet potatoes but it just doesn’t sound good in a sandwich. I think I might make my no knead bread today. We are having grilled chicken kabobs tonight if I can get to the store for charcoal. Safeway had a special on pre marinated kabobs and I picked up 8 skewers. One of the few ways I like chicken. Dubai looks very clean. Thank you for the pictures. Have a great day everyone!
  15. Hello and Good Evening! So good to see Jacqui @kazu and Ann @cat shepard back on the Daily. I can't imagine the grief you both are going through. Prayers, thoughts, and positive vibes coming your way. I had a busy day with DM and double appointments, shopping, and lunch. But it was fun and we had a good time. Her dental appointments are requiring many visits. @VMax1700 -- I, too, am following along on my Navigator App and saw tonight's Silver Gala Dinner. So nice to see a version of shrimp cocktail on the menu! I've been taking pictures of each day's menu in anticipation. Can you repost the Trieste webcam link? Somehow I missed it. Have a good night everyone!
  16. These are the ones I have and they are perfect, very durable and easy to use. We actually keep them on our luggage at all times as our flight tags and then just insert our cruise tags after the flight.
  17. What I do if using my phone is after inserting the picture I hit the return button several times. It’s very hard to see where the cursor is after a picture but it’s there, you just can’t see it.
  18. Happy Mother’s Day! My DM and myself on a cruise, probably 2002: And today: When I saw “Rich Strike” on the Celebration list I thought Rich was going on strike and thought ‘what in the world are we going to do without Rich!!’ Then I saw @ottahand7’s post about the KD winner and breathed a sigh of relief. I make carnitas frequently, it’s a favorite, and usually have some divided up into portions in freezer. But I’ve never made huevos rancheros with carnitas. Have a good evening!
  19. 1. I always print out our covid test results and have always shown my vaccine card so can’t answer this one. 2. Club Orange— I’m not sure if it opens at 5:00 or 5:30, it depends on your particular sailing. Anyway, if you arrive when they first open there will probably be a line but it should clear quickly. No reservations. But they do get to know you and your routine, likes, dislikes, etc. 3. We have sailed this area 3 times. On two you could feel the motion of the ocean and one was rough, I almost missed our meet & greet, and even my DH got seasick which is unusual. Enjoy your cruise and Alaska and HAL and your Neptune Suite!
  20. Good evening! I had trouble with our WiFi this morning and couldn’t load anything. Smart techie Craig told me to turn it off and then back on. Viola! Then life got in the way and I had to make lunch. I thank my two children’s birth mothers and fathers every day for making it possible for me to be a mother. Silently, of course, as I have never met them. I added fathers because when our children were adopted fathers also had to give consent. If the father was unable to be contacted, for whatever reason, a public notice was done. I will also celebrate herb day. I’ve only watched the Derby a few times and forgot it was today. @VMax1700, you will be boarding the Oosterdam as we disembark. We will be long gone on the bus to Tronchetto when you arrive at the pier. Maybe we can wave as we pass on the road. 👋 Debbie @dfish, I love your attitude. Welcome home! Maxine @AncientWanderer — enjoy your cruise! @bennybear — thank you for your reply yesterday. If you hear from anyone on the Oosterdam can you share if possible? Terri @Cruzin Terri — your tour today sounds amazing! Have a good evening!
  21. Yes, I'm glad that isn't our itinerary. Sorry you cancelled but totally understand. I would just really like to hear from someone on that cruise just to make sure the kinks are worked out for our June 1st sailing. Welcome!! What a sweet remembrance of Jose you have! I only wish I sailed with them before he passed. I hope you post more often on the Daily.... we are a kind, thoughtful, encouraging group without judgement, and share a common passion for cruising.
  22. @bennybear — I just read the last page on the May 8th Oosterdam roll call. Are you on this sailing? I would love to have your opinion if you are. Thank you!
  23. Good morning everyone and Happy Friday! The Oosterdam is in Ravenna today. She will probably move to Trieste sometime tomorrow, maybe after dark, for her first sailing with passengers. I wish someone on the Daily, or even the HAL board, was on the sailing for a report. But I’ve not seen anything yet. I might check out the roll call. Good collection of days today. Craig and I will probably have salted cod in Venice but it’s served differently. I’ll pass on the drink and wine today. Debbie @dfish, sorry to hear about your sewing machine problems. Sounds frustrating. Sandi @StLouisCruisers — thank you for the pictures of today’s port. Jack @Heartgrove, prayers for your sister and your family. Safe travels when you visit. Terri @Cruzin Terri —. Your view is great! Enjoy your tour tonight. Prayers to everyone on the Care List and Jacqui and Ann after losing beloved family members. Have a great day everyone!
  24. Happy Thursday, almost Friday. What a wonderful group we are! What a beautiful tribute to Jose. Prayers for Jacqui during this time. Have a good night everyone.
