  1. Good afternoon! Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich. Thank you to all who share and care on the Daily. I have been under the weather for a few days. Nothing big, just extremely tired. I’m still off kilter with my sleep after the trip. I wanted to share a cute picture of the newest member of Craig’s sister and her DH. Her name is Eddie. She’s 10 weeks old. She’s a Doberman. And absolutely cute. I think she’s going to need a bigger bed. Have a great day everyone!
  2. Roy @rafinmd — thank you for sharing your cruise with us! It was a blessing that the ‘complainer’ wasn’t at your dinner table the past few days. Maybe they were the ones who changed tables. 😉 Safe travels home!
  3. I love the Nieuw Amsterdam! Happy Birthday! ⛴
  4. Roy, I'm really enjoying reading about your cruise. Crazy about the embarkation issues. All of our recent past 4 cruises since the restart were not like that at all. Personally, I would change tables. I love food and all things food but would never claim to be a "critic" and would never complain if it was something I didn't like, I just wouldn't eat it. Life is too short to be around people like that. In the distant past we have changed tables but now only do tables for 2. On our last cruise there was a table of 3 ladies next to us with whom I developed a liking and one was on several excursions as mine. When DH was in covid isolation they invited me to join them but I declined, but did join them for dessert. We had a great time. Enjoy your 4th in Boston!
  5. Good morning everyone! Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich. Thank you to everyone for sharing on the Daily. Back in the 70’s after we were married pork fried rice was on the menu a lot, cheap and easy. I used the little packet of seasoning by Kikkoman. Since then I’ve tried making it without the packet but it just doesn’t taste the same so I gave in and started using it again. I always use more eggs and veggies than meat and I have to have peas, extra in fact. That’s what is nice about fried rice, you can make it the way you like. Joy @Seasick Sailor — safe travels to Hawaii. I hope you and Allen enjoy your trip. Bon Voyage to everyone cruising and traveling. Seems like more and more have cruises and trips planned. Someone told me that it’s called “revenge traveling”. Bruce @aliaschief— Your trip sounds like fun. I hope you and your family enjoy! The drink sounds like something I would like. Have a great day everyone!
  6. Good evening! Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich. Thank you to everyone posting on the Daily. Thank you all for your well wishes for Craig's retirement. We have the cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner, dish washing, putting away dishes pretty much worked out. We usually eat a bigger lunch when he is off so this will be nice to have our main meal at lunchtime. I honestly don't think he's going to realize he has free time for a few months because we have so much planned. Roy @rafinmd -- thank you for posting the link to your cruise report! Jane @lazey1 -- thanks for the info about the iron. It's probably too strong for what I need but I'm going to ask about it at my next appointment. BTW, we went to Hawaii the same month and year you did in May 1983. It was an amazing trip. Debbie @dfish-- From my experience this past cruise and issues with FE, your airline can't make any changes only FE can. And I was never able to check in online either coming or going, never really figured out why but it had to be because of FE, so we just checked in at the airport each way and had no problems in that area. And we were Business Class also and had no problems getting our free checked bags. This was a different airline but I still think FE is your point of contact. And I'm sure you have already done this but I made sure out flights were ticketed and checked them daily, sometime twice daily. And when it came time for them to be ticketed I called FE, I was on hold for an extremely long time but didn't care, I read the Daily while on hold. It's easy to see if your flights are ticketed or not on the airline website. I hope everyone has a good night!
  7. My NP wants me to take it daily so I'm dreading the side effects. So Jane @lazey1 I hope you see this. That's one reason Craig is retiring now, we have too many long trips and cruises scheduled and he has no vacay time! Yes, going to miss you on the Atlantic Coastal. Tell DH hi for us.
  8. @Gray Lady -- Have you called Guest Services? 800-599-8256 -- call early, they open at 10:00 am. I was on hold about 75 minutes and a file was started. Our situation is a bit different but I still think they can help. For us, not all the information was sent from the ship that was needed to complete the credit to FCC so they have to get back to us.
  9. No to your question about HAL keeping the records and we have cruised 4 times with HAL since August 2021. We show it each check in and we have only provided paper records of our vaccine records, never have used Verifly even though it was highly suggested for our recent overseas flights, even one airport staff said they didn't blame us for not using it. I hope this helps and that I didn't misunderstand your questions.
  10. Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦 Jane @Lazy1 I saw your mention a few days ago about monsoon season. So far we’ve not had much rain but we did have some thunder and a lot of wind this afternoon. Supposedly it’s going to dry up a bit over the next few days. That will be nice because it’s terribly muggy. BTW, what is the name of your iron tablets? My anemia is back and I’m interested in the no tummy problem kind. Vanessa @JazzyV — so happy to hear your cellulitis is gone and you feel better. Sandi @StLouisCruisers— welcome home! I need to catch up on the Daily to read about your Heathrow experience. Hopefully it was better than our 2 recent times. Linda @lindaler — welcome back! Great to hear things went smoothly with your move and the selling of your home in Oregon. Roy @rafinmd — Bon Voyage! Can you please post a link to your Live From or your blog? Thank you! Final payment is due very soon for our next cruise and I’ve spent a lot of time this week rearranging some things. I found a flight to Quebec that only has one stop, very unusual for us in Tucson, but it arrives two days earlier than we planned and Flight Ease doesn’t offer it so went ahead and canceled our flights with them and booked directly with AA. Now I just need to figure out what to do with those extra two nights in a hotel. Also spent time on hold with HAL guest services about some credit Craig is due from the Oosterdam but they don’t have enough information from the ship yet. Whew! I just got back from a cruise with crazy travel issues and am now facing it again. I must be crazy.
  11. Glad you were able to make your payment @VMax1700 I know that some departments are closed today to celebrate the 4th of July, making it a 4 day holiday weekend. My PCC contacted me earlier this week because of that (final payment is due soon on our next cruise).
  12. What a great suggestion Annie! I’m going to bring that up. I did suggest he offer his employer freelance services but I don’t think they will, they are too large an employer to do anything like that. BTW, I just read Debbie’s @dfish recipes and thought I’d share Ina’s recipe. It’s really easy and I never make a huge amount, usually just two filets so they fit on top of each other. And I used Vodka instead of Pernod. (However, this doesn’t list the Pernod but I think that the alcohol helps with the curing of the salmon.) The salt also is part of the curing process. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/gravlax-with-mustard-sauce-recipe-1953595 I always buy frozen salmon, mostly because we can’t get it fresh here, but Debbie makes a good point about the microorganisms. If you like Gravlax I highly recommend you trying it yourself.
  13. Good afternoon! Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich. Thank you everyone for sharing on the Daily. I have missed a few days, lots of appointments to catch up on after being away so long. I wanted to say hi today and welcome to my second favorite month—July (my first being June). I have made today’s meal suggestion before and used Ina Garten’s recipe. It comes out really good but a little on the thicker side because I don’t have a special knife like you really need to get paper thin slices. I need to read the Daily to see what recipes Debbie posted. Well, the day has finally arrived, today is Craig’s first official day of retirement. It’ll be a huge adjustment for him. He’s going to miss teaching (things like Excel and PowerPoint). It’s also his birth month so we have some celebrating to do. After DM’s appointment today we went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch and got my favorite BHB wine. Remember Joy?@Seasick Sailor. DM loved it, said that she liked it more than Kim Crawford. Have a great day everyone!
  14. Love the blonde! Oh dear! Like Debbie said this makes me tired. Keep us updated. Thinking of you.
  15. Yes they did and we even were in Business class ourselves but never saw that particular security line until we were right upon it and when we checked in and checked our luggage no one explained it to us. Like I said earlier, the signage is confusing, it’s very difficult to see where you are actually going, the area is huge, the line is long and with the crowds and hoards of people we just decided to stay where we were. If I had do-overs I would have suggested that one of us go check out the front of the line. Thank goodness we were early enough that it didn’t matter.
  16. Yes, thank you for reminding me about the two different security lines. Unfortunately, we were in the longer looking line like you because we were flying to Heathrow. A tip—make sure to check your bags first. The signage is confusing and with the way the airport is laid out it’s easy to miss the check in area. I felt really bad because we saw a lot of people with their luggage in the security line, and then moving out of line. I think an employee was walking the line asking people but that line is so long you could easily stand there for an hour and not realize.
  17. I’m not VMax1700 but it took us 45 - 55 minutes to go through security on June 19th in Venice Marco Polo airport.
  18. We had the last bus going from Trieste to Venice Tronchetto on June 13th. It ran smoothly. I’m fairly certain that transfers will be available, just not sure if it’ll be complimentary or for purchase, depends just like @Torquer said. And @VMax1700 is right- be prepared for the security line! It’s quite long.
  19. Good afternoon everyone ! Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the Daily. I love today’s meal suggestion and thank you for the recipes Debbie @dfish. I have made a similar recipe that I really liked. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/meatballs-with-garlic-yogurt-and-chimichurri-5660355 Spinach isn’t in the title but it’s definitely in the recipe. I used chicken but the recipe calls for Turkey. I didn’t make the chimichurri, just the yogurt sauce and it was so yummy with the meatballs. I like it because it’s different and doesn’t use pasta. Reminds me that I need to add this to my menu planning. Bruce @aliaschief — my DH loses everything and never realizes until long afterward. I could go on and on with what he’s lost. Most recently he left his EarPods somewhere on the Oosterdam when we were in the Bay of Kotor, never found them. Then his man bag on a water taxi in Venice and didn’t even realize until the hotel asked him about it. That cost €60 to return. So those keys just may never turn up. 😉 Joy @Seasick Sailor — prayers for your friend. @St Pete Cruiser — yikes on your sudden surgery during your travels. I hope you are recovered and book a replacement cruise soon. Have a great day everyone!
  20. Good afternoon! Thank you for the Fleet Report and Daily Rich. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the Daily. DGD spent the weekend and I made all her favorite foods, including strawberry ice cream. It turned out extra good. DM had a doctors appointment this morning, then we went shopping and then lunch. Annie @marshhawk, we also went to Red Lobster mostly because I had a free dessert for my birthday I wanted to use. All was good, saving my dessert for later—I got the cheesecake. It was hard getting back into the groove with DM, I haven’t seen her in a month and she had a lot of stuff for me to do for her. It’ll get done but I haven’t even caught up with my own stuff yet. 😉. And she wants to see her younger sister and BIL soon. They recently moved to a new retirement center which is really close. This sister has a lot of health issues and was recently in the hospital for 5 weeks after a fall. There were 13 siblings and now only 3 are left, all girls. Maxine @AncientWanderer -wow on your bee sting! I have been thinking about you, especially since San Francisco was the port of the day a few days ago. Great memories! I hope you are better now and enjoying your new grand baby. Thank you to everyone who posted pictures of today’s port. It looks like a beautiful island. Have a great day everyone!
  21. Congratulations on adopting Monty! And what a great name, actually a nickname, for him. Isn’t it funny how people choose pet names? It took us days to name Blue. And one day I looked at him and said that he had a blue cast to his skin (he’s hairless), and said Blue! That’s it, plus it’s also my favorite color. Would love pictures of your new family member!
  22. Happy Birthday Carol! Enjoy your special day! Prayers for Sam’s recovery. Enjoy having your grandson staying with you. 🍰🎉🎂🎊🧁🍾🎈
