  1. Everyone has their own experience. However, I am on the sailing @Seasick Sailor mentioned. The food has been excellent and plenty of choices. The window problem is always an ongoing issue due to sea water. Give them a chance to fix things. There are always things that pop up after a ship has been out of service. That happened to us once and we try not to book after a dry dock, or in this case, after going back in service. Again, I will say, everyone has their own experience. Mine has been excellent. I have a view of Mt Etna, I’m on a ship, I’m in the Mediterranean. Things are wonderful!
  2. Good evening from the Oosterdam anchored at Giardini Naxos. What a lovely area. And Mt Etna is my view I went on a wine tour today and it was wonderful. A mega yacht is here, the Scenic Eclipse. A crew member told me it has a helicopter. I love carnitas, it’s probably one of my top favorite Mexican dishes. However, the name for today’s menu suggestion is an oxymoron. Carnitas is always pork. I’m sure someone was just trying to be creative with recipe titles. Have a great day everyone!
  3. Currently there are no random tests. If you are on a B2B you will probably tested for the next leg. If positive you are not booted off the ship, you are placed in a quarantine cabin. If you feel ill during your cruise you need to contact the medical center and you will be tested. Currently quarantine is 6 days but the day you are diagnosed is Day 0. However, who knows what will be the protocol for next year. Enjoy your cruise, the Panama Canal is a great sailing.
  4. I’m not sure about your sailing but I was told about 1200 for this one. Not sure if that’s correct though. It’s mostly evident in the MDR. On both levels half of the dining room is closed off. Yes, DH is feeling much better and should be released tomorrow. He’s so disappointed about missing the Uffizi.
  5. Good morning from the Oosterdam at anchor near Mt Etna and Taormina. My view: Another toasty day is in store.
  6. @ger_77 Gerry, what a kind, thoughtful thing you are doing for the stillborn babies and families. My DM had a stillborn baby, my older sister, so this brought tears to my eyes. God bless you. I have been to Sitka twice. We tendered in 2012 and docked and shuttled in 2019. I actually worked for the son of the inventor of the Duncan yo-yo back in the 70’s. I never could get one going though.
  7. Good evening from the Oosterdam. We departed Naples about 30 minutes ago. I took a wonderful walking tour with food stops today. It was probably one of the best walking tours I’ve ever taken. I’ll share just a few pictures. We are in the Spanish area, where Mafia started. The Gallery The “new” castle. A wedding was starting and it was very busy. Those attending looked very important. The flowers were gorgeous. And from yesterday at the Etruscan tombs. The frescoes inside the tombs At the entrance. I had to take this for Carolyn @Cruising-along Have a great day!
  8. Bon Voyage! A lot of people onboard are staying on for this 12 day portion making it a 24 day cruise. Enjoy! The ship is in tiptop shape and staff and crew are wonderful. The food has been great (except for the sausage pasta the other night). ⛴⛴⛴
  9. Good morning from Naples! I hope everyone has a great day! I’ll post later on today’s Daily. Going on a foodie tour today that the shore excursion manager recommended and also a couple I met at the CC M&G.
  10. Good evening everyone from sea after leaving Civitavecchia. Hope I spelled that correctly. I didn’t have time to post what I did today. I went to Tarquinna and the Etruscan tombs. Very interesting. I’ll post pictures later. Jack @Heartgrove. Prayers for your siblings. I’m going to dinner. Have a great day everyone!
  11. He is released on the 8th (I think) and I’m not sure when he gets tested. It’s kind of all a blur. I’m supposed to be tested tomorrow but I have a tour so not sure how that will work. I’m just trying to “take it easy” and “go with the flow”. Everyone has been so nice and accommodating. Checking on me and asking how I’m doing, etc. It’s not what we planned but things have worked out.
  12. Another church. Time to make the doughnuts. The Oosterdam. Our cabin is to the right of the Pinnacle Suite (the one with all the wood). We can see the hot tub from our balcony. Have a great day everyone!
  13. Good afternoon everyone from Livorno! It’s a lovely day. I changed all my tours to shorter ones since I’m by myself, plus most were the ones that Craig wanted. Today was a walking tour, fish market and several stops for food and wine. Wine at 10:00 am! Yes, please. Sardine on the fish market. Inside the fish auction. Typical local fish stew served on bread. It was yummy. Bruschetta with toppings. The white things are white sardines. Yum. The olives were good too. Outdoor market. One of the many churches. It’s taking too long to load the rest so I’ll continue in another post.
  14. Yes I did but didn’t stay long. Later in the afternoon it turned into a beautiful day. Annie @marshhawk — I didn’t make it to the church. I wonder, did your father have to pay for the new window? That’s quite a memory to have from a beautiful place. Sailing away: I went to the CC M&G and they took a group picture, I think I’m the only one wearing a mask. I don’t know where it gets posted though. The organizer said CC requests a picture. I never knew that. I met a lovely couple from Calgary and we are on the same tour in Naples.
  15. I agree Rich! On Friday’s, when I was working, our leads would bring us Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The melt in your mouth glazed kind. Yum.
  16. Good afternoon from a very rainy Villefranche. I hope everyone has a great day!
  17. Good morning from If you look closely you can see the tender. I am getting ready to go ashore for lunch. Craig is being taken care of really well. I will check back in later when today’s Daily starts. Maxine @AncientWanderer — I totally forgot about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee until about 9:30 last night. I turned on BBC and saw a few highlights.
  18. Yes! And the bathroom has the old medicine cabinet. A relic for sure.
  19. Terri, I forgot to comment about this. I have to be tested at Day 3 and Day 5 but I am allowed to go anywhere and ashore. I have to say that I am one of the few wearing a mask. I wear one all the time except when sitting eating and drinking. Like now in the Ocean Bar. Craig has sent me pictures of his cabin and it appears that it hasn’t been updated at all. Makes him feel like he’s in the Twilight Zone. I ordered flowers and they came about an hour ago.
  20. Good news is that he is getting real dinnerware and no problem with the drinks. I spoke with the bartender in the Ocean Bar to make sure. His late lunch today. Negroni, wine and sandwich. Terri, it was so late by the time everything was done that I decided not to go into the old town area. The city arranged shuttle buses for $16 pp (IIRC) to go to the old town area. I have been trying to reply for a few hours but the internet was choppy. We just departed Marseille and I was finally able to post.
  21. Thank you everyone for your well wishes for Craig. They just arrived to sanitize my cabin. Craig was moved about 45 minutes ago to his quarantine cabin. We talked on the phone after he figured out what his cabin number was. He hasn’t had lunch yet since this all took so long. It’s a hurry up and wait situation unfortunately. Thank goodness I’m in a Neptune Suite and have access to the Neptune Lounge. It has been very helpful having them so close. I’m not going ashore today, bummer. I think some kind of special alert goes out when this happens because the Lounge knew when I went to tell them. Debbie @dfish — so glad you are doing good. Maxine @AncientWanderer — congratulations on your new DGS! Jacqui @kazu — hope all is well. I have no words except to say that I miss you. Graham @grapau27 — congrats on the good blood work. I am sure I missed someone/something because I’ve missed reading the Daily for many days. Just know that I care. Have a great day everyone!
  22. Forgot to mention that the Pinnacle Grill won’t have lunch on sea days during our sailing and no Rudi’s pop up either. I’m not sure if the MDR will have sea day lunch or not. We also don’t see anything about BB Kings. Those were disappointments.
  23. Good morning from the Oosterdam! It’s 10:30 am and a beautiful day. We are in Marseille today. Unfortunately, Craig started feeling ill and we did a self test a bit earlier and his was positive and mine was negative. He called the health center and we are waiting for the nurse to come to retest. We’ve decided I will stay in our cabin and he will quarantine. They told him at least 6 days, today being day 0. He’s not a happy camper. 😞 We’ve got him all packed and ready. I might change some of my tours since I’ll be by myself. Debbie @dfish— so good to hear your surgery went well. Feel better soon! Sandi @StLouisCruisers — I am so sorry to hear about Buddy. Prayers for him. Have a great day. I’ll check back when today’s Daily starts. Sharon
  24. Thank you everyone! We are in Barcelona anticipating our embarkation tomorrow. Oosterdam here we come!
  25. We are in Barcelona right now. Temperature is wonderful!!! No heat wave. High was probably 75.
