  1. Mine took four days to arrive from overseas.  If you leave for port; the medallion team will issue one to you.  Very simple.  I just sailed Caribbean Princess two weeks ago.  Some people had them when they arrived and most had them issued at the port.  There will be at least 50 medallion team members at the port to help you out

I hate to be a stickler fr safety but these days you can never be too careful. Is there a way to disable the proximity medallion so that your cabin door does not open as you approach? I am imagining some scenario where a creep follows you down your corridor and then is able to enter your cabin because it unlocked automatically.

I was on Caribbean Princess two weeks ago; it was the first ship for Ocean Medallion.  As you approach the cabin your medallion will activate the door and unlock it; but it does not open the door.  You will have to  push the handle down to open; so for security if you think someone is following you; you have a couple options.  First you can keep walking past your cabin;  the medallion will start to activate, but stops if you are not close to cabin door or if you are just walking by.  Second, like I mentioned the door will be activated; but you can not open until you actually push lever down.  Third option would be to leave your medallion in the cabin and use your cruise card; or keep your medallion in a purse or pants pocket.  The door will not activate if medallion is in purse.  I had it in my jeans pocket and walked up to cabin. Door would not activate until I pulled medallion out of my pocket.  Hope this helps

First, a million thanks for your thoughtful review. So many of the Caribbean Princess reviews lately have been so negative and I was getting concerned about our Canada/NE cruise in August. It appears to me that the cruise will be what we make it and we know how to do that.

Do you happen to know if the Vines was offering wine flights, or wine and chocolate tastings, or doing the Stammitsch Table? Vines is one of the venues that I always miss when a ship does not offer it.

    Thanks

I do not have an answer to your question;  but I can tell you that Vines was busy all the time; so maybe they were offering what you mentioned.  Everytime  I walked by Vines it had people standing; because all the seats were filled.  That tells me they were doing something right

The suite benefits mention “complimentary umbrellas”. Are these on loan for the duration of the cruise? Or do you just request them as you need them? Can you take them home with you (without beig charged)?

Dani24;  we had two umbrellas in our closet for the suite.  It never rained; so we didn't need them; however they are in the closet

  5. Super Shuttle is cheap and kids ride free;  but you will have to wait for shuttle to fill up; expecially if you are going to the port.  So you may have to wait a little.  We used Super Shuttle to take us to Marriott hotel on the water;  this was pre cruise.  We had to wait 30 minutes for our shuttle then you have to stop at different hotels. Sorry about taxi to port;  We took taxi from Airport to Space Needle;  that price was $23 and this was two years ago

  6. Hello everyone;  we had aft penthouse suite on Caribbean Princess for our 16 Feb 2019 sailing.  We used same day laundry service twice;  our cabin steward took it for us and had it returned by 6pm same night; the price was charged to folio; then deducted. Our cabin steward made sure we had two new water bottles in suite every day.  On the ocean concierge app on our ship; it lists the enhanced benefits of the suite; and two things  I remember was 2 bottles of water and also ordering room service from the app.  There is a room service menu in your suite; and then there is an additional menu for suite guests

  7. You are better off using airport taxi;  they have a fixed rate to the port and are not allowed to jack up the price.  Lyft or Uber is an option also.  I used shuttle last July and like Qcruise mentioned we waited until the shuttle had enough people.  On way back to airport us used lyft

  8. CindiColorado.   preferred check in the time that is printed on your boarding pass.  It is more like a suggested time.  We sailed Caribbean Princess last week 16 Feb.  We had a preferred boarding time of 1:30; this was based on the deck we were assigned.  We showed up at the port at 11am and was on the ship at 11:30

OK, so I called Princess and the rooms are all booked for February 2020 for the Sky Princess--Sky Suite.  I asked the gal at Princess if she could let me know how much it was, just so I would know if we could even afford it.  She gave me an "approximate" based on February 2020--7 days in the Sky Suite.  It is $6,879 pp and $136.80 port fees, so $7,015 pp or $14,031.00 for 7 nights for 2 people--this was for the Eastern Caribbean.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

This may seem high; but it is in line with the the Deluxe Haven Suite on Norwegian ships; or the Crown Loft Suites on Royal Caribbean

  10. Thanks everyone for the great tips on when to go and what to see.  As of now we have booked 10 Oct; and 26 Sep is our backup.  Our travel agent is waiting  for the next promo to come out and see which date would fit best.  I assume that any promo for next year would cover both those dates.  As there are a limited number of window suites on the Sky;  I think there are six total; and on 10 Oct sailing there  was only one left so our travel agent snagged it.

I've been to Halifax a few times during late September/ early October, and it was a mix of mild temps and raw chilly dampness.

Like another poster mentioned, you'll go from layers to shorts.

Taking a taxi from Times Square to Brooklyn is no easy feat. Seems the cab drivers in Manhattan don't like to leave there to take a fare to the other boroughs. (I learned this from experience. One time I did a cruise on QM2 from Brooklyn, and tried to get a cab from the PA bus terminal, and every cabbie refused.  I did get to Bkln eventually.).

Take advantage of Uber or Lyft. It'll be less expensive, and stress-free.

Definitely will use Lyft to get from hotel to cruise terminal;  thanks for the heads up

    Hi AF-1,

where is this information? While I can see the details of the sale, I see no list of cruises that it covers. While I certainly can wait until Friday, sooner is always better!

    Thanks!

Hi after you click on the link; open the pdf file by each sale and it will list the region and dates for the sale; plus it goes into a little more detail

    2.  I know its a gamble but who has to taken this cruise either Sept or Oct and how was the temperature?

We went the last week of Sept. and had fantastic weather!  For us, it couldn't have been more perfect.  It rained at night only and it was warm enough for my DH to wear shorts the rest of the days.

    3. We will be going to Rhode Island, Boston, Bar Harbor(which is tender port); and Halifax.  Can you give me feedback on these ports?
We really enjoyed the itinerary!   Bar Harbor was very quaint and we did a Princess small group tour which was really good, Halifax and Peggy's Cove was the highlight of the trip and we absolutely fell in love with Newport!  We walked to the Black Pearl for clam chowder (DH said it was the best he's had in his life), did a trolley tour of the area and watched the boats sailing in the bay.  There's good shopping at Bowen's Wharf which is in easy walking distance from the ship too.  This was probably one of our favorite cruises!

So in Newport; did you just walk around the area; or were you on Princess excursion?  Also we are looking at going either last week of September or mid October.  October would be mainly for the crisper weather.
