  1. Did a snorkeling excursion on Rising Son this past Oct.  Beautiful catamaran.  Plenty of seating.  Cannot comment on Restless Native, as we've never done any excursions with them.

We will be doing White Hot catamaran sunset cruise this August with Rising Son.

Halifax, NS; Sydney, NS; Charlottetown; Bar Harbor, ME?

Trying to decide whether to book Holland Volendam vs. Emerald Princess for July 2024.  We are in our early 60s, and prefer smaller ships, and prefer not to have lots of children on board.  That being said,, we also like to go out dancing (think 60s, 70s, 80s music) and do enjoy live music.  What would you do???

Monetarily wise, the Holland Volendam is pricing considerably higher than the Emerald Princess.  Can get a balcony for a few hundred less on Emerald Princess (with Princess Plus) than an inside cabin with drinks, wifi, pp gratuities, $100 pp shore excursion credit and one specialty dining for us on Holland Volendam.  Decisions, decisions.

  3. If you've recently taxied from Port of Miami to FLL Airport, what was the cost?  Last year, when we did a repo cruise from Boston to Miami and flew out of FLL, we were with 5 other people and I arranged transportation from Larry's Limos.  However, this Oct., it will be just my husband and myself who need transportation.  We would have purchased the transfers through Celebrity, unfortunately, it is only good for flights departing after 12:30 p.m.  Unfortunately, our flight departs at 12:25 p.m.

  4. We had the upgraded drink pkg. on our last cruise, so I didn't think twice about heading to the martini bar.  However, on our upcoming cruises, we do not.  Can you still get a small martini with the classic drink pkg., or is Celebrity no longer doing that?  If not, what is the cost of an espresso martini, a cosmo, dirty martini, or a regular vodka martini?

  5. Although I grew up in RI and have lived in MA now and have had lobster saute', steamed lobster, baked stuffed lobster, I have never had lobster thermidore.  We will be celebrating my 60th birthday in LeBistro this August on the Pearl.  Can someone explain to me how lobster thermidore is different and is it worth the upcharge of $25 in your opinion?  Thanks.

Ok remember you are trying to cover 20 numbers with 5 chips and no duplicates/repeats.

The picture shows the layout of the numbers .

Lots of permutations the chips go on the diagonals.
    The following is an example;

    between 2 & 4, 8 & 10, 17&19, 23 & 27 and 29 & 312E27B922-1B0B-4F2A-8E77-A1FE1F94DFCF.thumb.jpeg.b8fc5606fb40d6b55320331469475b0a.jpeg

Dont worry if you can’t reach the Croupiers will place your chips if you leave them on the table and just call out the diagonal you want.

For a bit of extra fun you can occasionally put one of the chips between 0 & 00 - we do it once every session.

Good luck. By the way it was a Croupier who first suggested we play this way when we attended one of the free teach you to play sessions.

Thank you to both of you!

I understand that's how some people do it. Opinion varies on whether it is strictly allowed and which ships permit it.

We don't do it that way as we want to have fun so we play roulette by playing corners on a table with a  $5 minimum bet  as follows:

    1) draw $50 in promotional chips from the cashier.

    2) at the table keep the promotional chips on your right.

    3) on each spin we bet 5 X $1 chips  with each chip covering 4 numbers which gives us pretty much an even bet.

    4) When we win we get $8 in real cash chips which go on a pile to our left. After a win the winning chip stays on the table reducing our next bet to $4 which tips the odds slightly in our favour.

    5) continue to play just using the promotional chips and when those are spent cash in the winnings and walk away. Note: we only cash in in multiples of $5 the difference we leave as a tip.

We repeat daily, until all our OBC has been spent.

Never chase loses or bet more when winning.

We have a lot of fun playing this way and the risk is tiny (over the course of a cruise we have never lost) and even if we did it would be a small price to pay.

Not saying our way is right or wrong but it works for us. Whatever you choose enjoy.

We would like to try this.  When you say, "put a chip on each corner," is it possible for you to show me where exactly to put the chip with a picture?  I've only played roulette putting a chip on a number of playing red/black.  We usually play blackjack or craps.

  8. Many years ago, we were cruising on NCL Majesty Boston to Bermuda.  One early evening, my husband and I were out on the deck outside our room.  My sister-in-law came running out to us telling  us there were a bunch of security and a dog outside our room and they wanted to get in it.  We went to our room and let them in.  The dog was hitting on our safe.  They asked if we would open it.  We did.  They asked what was in my purse.  I emptied it for them.  We took everything out of the safe.  The dog was still hitting on it.  They apologized, gave the dog a correction, and told us that the previous week, someone in the cabin had drugs in the cabin.

We knew we did not have any drugs.  We thought this was sooo cool......watching the dog in action.  We tell anybody who cruises with us NOT to bring any marijuana with them, especially when cruising to Bermuda and tell them this true story.

  9. Never been to St. Vincent.  Been to Grenada a couple times.  I stay on the ship now.  LOVE Dominica.  it's so beautiful with their falls, tubing, champagne snorkeling, etc.  I've not been to Tobago, and it's been too many years to remember Martinique.  Remember if you go to Martinique, you do need a passport.

  10. I, too, love going to Bermuda in September the most.  Have been in mid to late May, mid June, early and mid September and mid Oct.  The water temp in May was still quite cool, June's was bearable, September's water temp was perfect for me, and Oct. it was cooling up again.

I'm not offering to book for anyone on this site (plus, y'all hear me complain too much)...but when I book my friends and family, I'm able to select any of the available Free at Sea offers. This includes drinks, meals, WiFi, shore excursion discount, BOGO Airfare, etc. If your agent can't, then you need to rethink who you use (again, not moi)...unless, you're getting that big ole cash card and rebates. Depends who it is, whether I'll give onboard credit, chocolate covered strawberries, etc.

A travel agent's quote should always be the same you see on the NCL site. If not, there may be a discrepancy in the category, someone's not accounting for taxes, fees, etc., or the agent is not a good one.

Many travel agents have group pricing which, many times, could be less than what you see on the consumer site.
