Actually, I think being able to invite friends & family to the Platinum/Elite lounge would be a nice perk.  Maybe something Princess should formalize.

If they’re in your cabin, fine, but if everybody invited friends it could get real crowded.   We’ve seen long lines at several of these events.
On  my last cruise on the Majestic it was well attended each evening, and ship was only 50% full yet room was always full.
It was held at a lovely venue front of ship in Sanctuary area which is free on the Majestic.

  2. Dear OP,

Very sorry to hear about what’s happened to you regarding unused OBC. I’m wondering if perhaps your OBC is non-refundable, and that that is why you’ve not received a refund. Since you’ve indicated that you’ve not had OBC refunded before, maybe nobody was able to explain that there are two types of OBC, that which comes from a TA and that which comes from the cruiseline.   Travel agent OBC is usually refundable, but cruise line OBC is not always refundable.

Weve had more OBC than we knew what to do with on other cruise lines and made it clear that we wanted to use the non refundable FIRST while onboard, but the system was already set up that way, so that whatever was remaining , ie, the refundable , was refunded immediately.   I’m so  has happened to you. $740 is a lot of credit.

Please Ignore the snarky replies.  I think it is rude to state that newbies shouldn’t be allowed to post.  I understood what you meant by being elite. You weren’t bragging; you meant that you’re experienced as a Cruiser and had never experience This particular. situation.  Take care and good luck

How long ago was that? I don't remember that in my years of cruising with Princess since the early 2000's,

We do not remember that either?  We started with Princess in the early 90's.  Now, the Doubletree Hotel had that tradition.

We had a very nice plate of cookies in our mini suite on embarkation day of our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess in 2004.  And a gorgeous all you could eat seafood buffet  for dinner.

How much can a few cookies be worth.  I can bring a whole bag of them w me for a total cost of maybe $4.  A couple of cookies would be as much as 25 cents.

    DON

Actually, they were Italian baked cookies, and they were pretty darned good.  Definitely worth more than 25 cents.

Perhaps it was a perk of the mini suite.  Possible

Probably is but not for the one time I stayed in a mini suite.

On embarkation day there were butter cookies that had maraschino cherries, along with the passport travel stamp, on the desk or the little tables.  This was in the years between 2005-2011.   We took a pause from 2011-2015, and upon our return, no more cookies .  It is immaterial to me if I get a cookie or not in my stateroom, but since this thread is about cutbacks, just thought I’d mention it.   It was not just for those in mini suites, because we received them in obstructed ov cabins, too.

Wow - thanks for this info.  Trying to reach someone now.  We had D727 on the Majestic in November and loved it.  Again, thanks and I will post the outcome as soon as I know.

Oops I meant to write D726, not 36.

Hope it  works out for you. 😊

Yes, I noticed that as well.  Just dread the 4 hours on hold to reach someone that more than likely won't have a clue.

Hi @DiRonT, we were scheduled to be on the 3/27 and I just canceled last night,  and we had booked an S3 , cabin D 736, which has the huge balcony and also a sufficient overhead covering    Only Baja and Dolphin deck corner cabins have the nice overhang.   Wondering if you could grab that cabin, since it just went back into the pool.

    Hello all.

My daughter and her husband are currently honeymooning aboard the Majestic Princess on a California coastal cruise.  My daughter is an experienced cruiser with Princess and has experienced many wonderful cruises aboard several of the Princess ships.  She has been absolutely shocked on this cruise to see the changes in the quality and quantity of the food being served.  The meals they have been served in the main dining room so far have been super tiny and flavorless, and many times overcooked.  More than three-quarters of the plate is empty with a very small portion of food stacked in the center.  She was served a shrimp cocktail appetizer that contained three small shrimp and a drizzle of cocktail sauce.  The portions they are being served are not even half the size of the portions that were served aboard the Princess ships pre-Covid.  And the flavor and quality just aren't there.  I realize that we are still dealing with the pandemic and there are probably supply chain issues at work and that Princess has probably needed to make cutbacks in order to keep operating.  I am just curious if this is the new normal across all Princess ships or if this is something happening aboard the Majestic only?  I haven't seen any other posts on the boards with people complaining about the food, so maybe this is a one-off?

    Hi,

I was onboard last month and although portions were tiny, the flavor was excellent.  Been sailing with Princess since 2003 regularly and it was the best dining room food I’d ever had on Princess.  I asked for two entrees on some nights. Ordered half order or pasta and a meat entree, et cet.

Food was plentiful throughout the ship and especially in the MDR after eating appetizers, salads, two entrees, dessert, coffee.

Best service I’ve ever experienced, too.

One can always ask for extra.  I’ve

Thanks!  I’m also wondering if they will except my copy of my vaccine record on my phone vs showing the original card. I also have my state QR code on my phone.

    Tom😀

Well, ummmmmmm — I had paper copies just in case, but nobody asked to see ANY of my documents that day in Seattle.  I was shocked.   I offered to show and was shooed off upstairs and told docs would be checked up there.  They weren’t.  I tried to show.  They told me I was good to go onboard.

I shook my head and boarded the ship.

So, how did you get proof to board?  Did you get an email too or what?  Thanks

Digitally.   CVS prompts everyone to register — can’t recall if it is minute clinic acct or My Chart? The results will appear in your file and then you can convert to a PDF to your documents or send it as an email link to yourself.  I just took a screenshot.

So are you saying you went to CVS?  Why was there a fee?  I am scheduled next week and it says my insurance covers 100%

I used CVS and all they needed was my insurance card.  My insurance sent me a statement recently for $0, and it indicated that they had reimbursed CVS for the entire cost, $159.

(Also, I received my result within 30 mins via a phone call.)

We were changed from Dolphin D726 to Caribe, C738. So right above the original booking but the balcony is a lot smaller. We’ve been watching videos on YouTube showing the cabin we booked and feeling so lucky…until today.

We lost our Dolphin Aft balcony this week for our 10/23 and 10/30 cruise due to isolation.  Apparently they block the entire area and close the fire doors.  We relocated to Baja.   Not happy but according to PVP many were moved.

This concerns me, as we’ve booked the same suite as OP on a different ship, Discovery, and booked Dolphin specifically for that huge balcony, as only Dolphin and Baja have the deep balconies.  Interestingly, when I was aboard the Majestic last month, the isolation area was above me.  I was E110, and isolation was Dolphin, and I had concerns before sailing about isolation rooms being directly above me, but then learned subsequently that it was isolation for newer employees just joining the ship for the 14-day quarantine period, so that didn’t concern me as much as if it had been isolation of those who actually had covid.

We specifically want that corner aft as we don’t want one under the bar deck, or one of those narrow balconies, but the most important part of being on Baja or Dolphin is the deep overhang, and Most of those balconies don’t have an overhang back there.  So, that will be a dealbreaker for us.

Still shaking and rolling this evening! It's not so bad if you wear ear plugs and pretend it's a vibrating bed. It has actually helped my sore back. I'm in a aft balcony cabin deck 14.

Hopefully things will calm down for everyone as the cruise progresses.

Update for the CC gang on board, I spoke to Riu and two other dining room managers today and they said they can probably do the Chef's table this cruise on a yet to be determined date but they need enough people to be interested in it to do it. So call the Dine Line/ Dining Inquires button on your cabin phone and let them know you are interested and spread the word to other passengers you meet who might want to do it also.

We’ve had several aft cabins on Emerald, Crown, et cet , over the years and there’s always been a pronounced shimmy back there, especially C752, D737, E733,  and not so much from E719-E731.

@PescadoAmarillo I had more problems on DW's and my Alaska sailing than I am currently having at home. However, it is still being a pain. I mostly use a laptop but have had the same problems on a Samsung tablet. Sometimes it appears that I should be able to 'like' a post but I get an error that says it was unsuccessful. Additionally, when trying to reply to a topic, it looks like it was submitted but it shows at the top of the page I am on vice the bottom. In both cases I appear to be logged in (user-id shows and 'Log Out' is selectable). What I have found is that if I log out and log in the site is functional once again.

I am probably preaching to the choir on the following: I usually copy any text that I am trying to submit in case it doesn't submit and no longer available in the "Reply to this topic" field. On really long posts I sometimes just use a word processor and copy from it.

CC just seems to be offering up more problems than a month ago and it doesn't seem to be device specific or a MedallioNet issue. However, I do wonder whether the latency inherent via satellite connections adds a bit more failure.

This is the exact problem I’ve been experiencing for months.
