  1. We sailed on Norwegian Encore last year and as soon as we stepped on the ship there were staff directing us to our muster station . (We had received S &S cards at check-in). It was a very effiicient way of "gettin' 'er done" but it kinda spoiled that magical few moments when you first set foot on the ship.
  2. On some sailing we have been able to drop by the room. On others, there were staff members at the door leading to cabins turning people away.
  3. Either they can't read or they are lying so they won't look as bad when they remove gratuities
  4. We did Alaska last July. It was not cold but overcast or rainy the whole time. I took layers. My most-used item was a light-weight hooded waterproof, nylon lined jacket (Magellan - I got it at Academy). I wore it every port day with lighter or heavier layers underneath. If your ship does the glacier passage and you view i form your balcony or an open deck, it WILL be cold. Weat warm layers inclusing a hat, and ask for a blanket.
  5. Sometimes I get upgrade offers by email and sometimes they are just in my planner

  7. If you a man, no tank tops, If you are a woman and are talking about a tank tope that is pretty much a sleeveless TShirt with fitted arm holes you are probably okay, If you mran one with large/wide armholes which would reveal whatever is under neath it (Sports bra or swimsuit or 😮). maybe not. If your boys' swimsuits look like shorts and are not wet, fine. Wet bathing suits are not allowed in the MDR.
  8. On port days an early seated breakfast is served in the MDR. On Sea days, a lengthier Sea Day Brunch is served in the MDR. For many years now, there is no lunch service in the MDR
  9. We plan to stay at the Sleep Inn Mt. Pleasant the night before the cruise (free parking for the night we are there) and park at the port. It's actually a cheaper option than most of the sleep and park deals, and will be more convenient on disembarkation day,
  10. Would love to hear a report if you did end up staying there
  11. Just ordered 2 from Lands End. I am short and they still offer the Tugless Tank suits in the shorter torso option. Thye come in tomorrow and I an anxious to see how they fit.
  12. Other than some anti vax posts this is the only post by the OP
  13. I agree. Cruisingswith fixed dining is one of the few times I get to escape the "What are we doing for dinner?" question.
  14. For a Shirley Temple, ask for a Sprite (Starry, now) - included in Bubbles - and ask sweetly for the bartender to please add a little grenadine. I double they will refuse.
  15. Porthole Cabins are listed with the interiors, in a separate category within this list
  16. On disembarkation day, everyone seems to be in a hurry to leave the ship. We like to wait a bit. We clear out of our cabin early (we know the stewards have a short turnaround time), enjoy breakfast in the MDR, and find a quiet place to sit on the upper decks and wait for the crowds on the lower decks to subside. We usually wait until they announce "all passengers debark" and pretty much just walk of the ship with short, if any, lines.. If we have silent debarkation, we choose the latest time. So much less stress. (We generally drive to port, so we are not worried about flight times).
  17. Carnival usually does not change ship time, but if the dom they announce it several times and post in the Fun times/Hub. .The key strategy here is to take an analog watch that you can set to ship time. Ship time is prominently displayed several places throughout the ship, including at point of debarkation.
  18. I love Coke Zero so I used to get my money's worth, Now that they've switched to Pepsi, It's not worth it,
  19. At the I-95 exit for the airport/cruise port, there's a Denny's and Cracker Barrel. I know neither is very original, but both are very convenient
  20. The airport is close to the cruise port - same I-95 exit, airport on the west and cruise port on the east.
