We usually don't anything in particular. This cruise we are doing something different, DH and I are wearing matching cruise-theme T-shirts ("I love it when we're cruising together.")
Your steward will put 2 beach towels in your cabin the evening before beach days, Just bring them back to your cabin after use and you steward will pick them up.
I received a small drawstring jewelry pouch as a gift several years ago and it works very well. When you own the drawstrings it lies flat and has separate compartments inside, Pull and tie the draw strings and it's a small secure pouch that can be easily tucked in a purse or carry on.
It's like this one:

I'm one of those crazy people who does not mind doing a load or two of laundry. I prefer doing it myself than risk having someone else do it wrong. I am early an early riser so I usually find no one else in the launderette when I arise. If self-service facilities are not offered. I will use the bag option if I absolutely have to, but it is not my preference.
Ladies, be sure to pack feminine supplies, even if you don't think you'll need them, Traveling can mess with the hormones. You can buy some on the ship (when the shops are open) but they are expensive and they have a very limited selection, so be sure to pack your preferred brands and types.
My 9-year-old granddaughter suffers from motion sickness and gets sick on almost every car trip or flight., My daughter recently got her some special glasses to wear when riding in the car that use liquid between the lenses to simulate the horizon. She did not get sick on the car trip to or the trip from our home (Charlotte) and theirs (Altanta)
Search "motion sickness glasses" in your browser.
We have done it before. Just be prepared for it to be VERY hot in ports. Stay hydrated, apply sunscreen liberally, and dress for the weather (loose, lightweight clothing, sun hat and sunglasses).
Each line has its own loyalty program, with its own perks, that increase incrementally with number of cruises or number of days cruised. After your first cruise, you can sign up on their website and you will be able to access special rates and receive notices of members-only promotions.
I like about half and half. If there are too many port days, I may not get off in a particualr port at all, especially if it is one i have been to before and did not particularly enjoy. These Slef-created sea days are some of the most relaxing.
The entertainment and on-board activities have been better on some sailings than others and I attribute that to the CD and his/her staff and how much they actually interact with passengers (and not just stay on the mic all the time idly talking.
Depending on the ship, some may have irons in self-service laundries or may have "ironing rooms". If you have a particular item or two that needs pressing, ask your steward in the morning and they will have it back to you by the evening. Of course I give an extra tip for this service
We generally do breakfast in the MDR and do early dinner, so often we we have a very light lusch, if any at all. In port we will have a drink or two with a light snack (we often seek out the local treat or sweet).
