  1. Gorgeous! How many times have you cruised now? I still like dressing up even after 25+ cruises.

Arhillbilly, you always have such lovely gown and cute poses.

We've cruised 3x together, this year will make our 4th cruise together. This is my 10th cruise overall. I like to dress up only with DH. If its me and mom, I skip the formal pics.

  2. I have been recognized and just about blew my DH's mind. Like so many couples I have a good and exciting life on CC and DH does not ever go on it. We were in a hotel in Barcelona and hubby was at the elevator when someone came up to him and said "Hi (name) how was the trip from DC"/ Hubby spent an hour trying to figure out who the person was. I recognized a member of a roll call because they always wore parrot shirts. Since we are back mostly on Princess not seeing them much.

I feel like I know people on these boards better than I know some of the folks on my street whom I only wave to once or twice a month. I appreciate that the friendly folks here chat with me and connect me to many exciting adventures.

    Very cool.

  3. I'll be in my first wrap-around suite aft in July :)

Deck 7(no, I won't tell my cabin #, somebody may try to steal it from me ), I know there are some pics out there...so COME ON PEOPLE, POST EM'!!

I love aft cabins. It's so quiet back there and looking at the wake is awesome in the morning/afternoon/evening/night. Plus, you get the complete privacy :p:rolleyes:

  4. In all my years of cruising, I've never had someone "suggest" to me that I should tip them. I tip based on the service that I receive. If I feel it's above and beyond, what a regular tour would be, then I tip generously.

We went parasailing in St. Thomas the other day and there was a sign

stating "guides work for tips and they work very hard." We read the sign and when it was done, the guys got each a $25 tip. We loved the excursion and even bought the t shirts afterwards.

My suggestion is to tip based on the service that you receive. If you keep reminding me, you're going to become annoying and pushy and then you don't get diddly squat from me.

  5. Hi, I too am a Black American female. I have always worn my hair out on the cruises. I am debating getting braids for this upcoming trip, but don't have the patience to sit for 2 hours and get my hair done. My hair is shoulder length. I would get braids if you don't want the fuss. I like to have a different hair style every day, so the braids may not work for me.

I actually had a fantastic experience at the salon on board the NCL Spirit, I had a caucasian woman wash and dry my hair and I looked fabulous afterwards. She dried my hair so quickly, I had no clue who I was. I received numerous complements, considering what my hair looked like before I came in (an excursion on an atv+wind+dirt)). You can make an appt at the salon afterwards for a wash and dry. Good luck.

  6. I forgot about this thread. I took BF on his first cruise, my umpteenth this past April. We had met with some people on CC and saw them onboard and was actually neighbors with one. Well we were quite active on our balcony one night! YAY!! They saw us one day and were like "You guys are so quiet and we didn't hear a peep out of you." If they only knew

  7. There was this really cute elderly gentleman on our last cruise. He always wore a short sleeved shirt, a tie, a Army vet hat, glasses and those big yellow glasses on top of his regular glasses. This is what he wore on one of the excursions. Subsequently we saw him around the ship wearing the same thing, but a different tie. He was so adorable..LOL. He loved to tell bad jokes.

  8. I've heard alot about Luggage Forwarding services recently and was wondering if anyone has tried it? We're flying into Honolulu from the east coast in January and to be able to not have the stress of luggage on that long trip would be a pleasure. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions / advice.

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't had any experience with that, but my mom is thinking about having our luggage forwarded when/if we go on the Queen Victoria next year. Check with the cruise line to see if they use somebody specific that does luggage forwarding. Good luck.
