  1. I hope you’ve noticed that one chap in the gym photo is wearing a hat, or rather cap. Something to consider.
  2. It did make me wonder why passengers intent on sweaty and unpleasant exercise should be given a space with such a wonderful forward view. Seemed very unfair.
  3. Yes. I know this only because on two occasions it has been my muster station. It took me much of the voyage to recover.
  4. Don’t worry about the themes. But a dark suit and tie at least would be needed for the main restaurants on gala nights. There are venues where you can dress more informally, but he’d miss a lot of the fun.
  5. The Air Museum is very good. Also a Mediaeval Merchant’s House, and outstanding chocolate brownies (with a nice view of the docks) in John Lewis, West Quay. And you can always try a boat trip.
  6. But actually don’t you think there is more than enough to do in Soton, as well as exploring the almost empty ship?
  7. Absolutely not. The A34 is a nightmare. I wouldn’t go further than Hythe.
  8. Though because of its very high freeboard, the QM2 is probably pretty safe from them.
  9. Would it be naive to think that someone at Cunard might have seen it often and thought it worth getting it fixed? Wouldn’t that be sort of normal?
  10. It seems to me a technical glitch is far more likely than such a major change, especially as single seating dining is a brochure promise. Worry not. Cunard is brilliant, their IT is dismal.
  11. Many schools of various sexes in the UK are still like that. Perhaps less with ties. But one of the major points of school uniform is to give children something to rebel over. It is much better if stroppy teenage girls roll the tops of their skirts over so that they are ludicrously short than that they throw things at the teacher. One would hope, perhaps wrongly, that Cunard passengers are mature enough not to feel the need to rebel in the same way.
  12. Sorry, I’m a complete moron. Interestingly, I have seen a couple of people over the years make a splash by wearing red on black and white night.
  13. Rouge? Isn’t that red? Sorry I’m being dim. (Again)
  14. If I follow you correctly you wore red, or gold, on an ice and white night, and then mention (sadly, I think) formal wear is falling apart - metaphorically I trust. Can you not see some connection here? You then say (people) should enjoy themselves with anything fancy they wish to wear, but in the next sentence say they should make an effort to wear something appropriate. I’m not sure what your actual feelings are.
  15. I hope they gave him bamboo shoots to eat.
  16. I was going to click on the hilarious button, then I thought that seemed unsympathetic. I’m very sympathetic, but your experience is somehow so hilariously predictable.
  17. Yes, but, unless you are in one of the really large suites, your room and everything in it smells of food all night. Or at least for quite a while. I suppose it would be all right if you stuck to salad.
  18. Cunard are so predictably inconsistent. Bless them.
  19. I don’t know whether it is. It used to be, or rather Soton to Cherbourg. Certainly, it would make it easier if not.
  20. That sounds an excellent service. Have they sold your cabin to someone else for Soton to Le Havre?
  21. On reflection it could mean they think Grills passengers are cleaner than the rest, as they are the only ones who might notice.
  22. Do they really think Grills passengers are dirtier than the rest? A fascinating insight.😀
  23. That would have been great.
  24. It used to say in the FAQs that they were changed every three days. I can’t find it now, but that may be simply because I’m no good at searching. In any case, I suspect this is the result of a lazy or forgetful steward rather than a change in policy. We had our sheets changed pretty often on QV in the summer.
  25. Wouldn’t it be nice if she was christened and/or set off on her maiden voyage on a day when at least one of her sister Cunarders was there?
