  1. Or indeed vice verse, as in Hemispheres on QE, whence we could see sunbathers revealing all sorts of unexpected and unintentional parts, while we were in choir practice.
  2. I think there will be a dome like on the vistas. But that won’t give a view.
  3. Dulce de Leche ice cream is wondrous, but they don’t often seem do it.
  4. Bring back the Paris-Madrid Sleeper, I say. And, given the resurgence in sleepers they actually may do one day. The TGV services are brilliant for journeys that fit into a (long) day, but otherwise they just benefit hotels.
  5. That would be an interesting idea, if I were a bit younger, and my husband a lot younger. Also, it would have been vastly easier for us when Eurostar left from Waterloo, but, as it is, would almost certainly entail an extra night in London, or, possibly, Paris. Then I loathe Barcelona, where I would have to stay another night, so I don’t think so. All that packing and unpacking. But I would love to cruise to Istanbul up the Bosporus.
  6. And the top cabins do look very nice in the impressions.
  7. I didn’t intend to book QA, but I want to book a cruise next year. I don’t fly, QE is away from Europe, QV is doing flycruises, and QM is on her TAs. So what am I left with?
  8. QM2 May have her faults, like almost all the Grills facilities, but she is the one to do a TA aboard.
  9. Two years? They’ll probably have changed the system by then. 🙂
  10. Probably true, but not really the issue here, which is to minimise the amount of luggage the OP has to cart around Europe.
  11. No, it’s not, but anyway I do hope they had a good time. 🙂
  12. I love the Grills Lounges on the Vistas, though I rarely consume more than a morning coffee there, but sit happily enjoying the view for a long while, though I admit the Commodore Club has an even better view. It’s strange about the snacks, though why we need them I can’t imagine, but if you think they bother to take fruit skewers and ice cream and sandwiches upstairs for the sunbathers, you would think they might have something for those indoors. But, as I say, I love the view.
  13. 2.6k November 10, 2005 Spokane, Washington, USA #15 Posted May 30 This is from today's Daily Programme on the QM2. We disembark on Friday. From another thread. It may not help you if you are travelling on another ship.
  14. And have you managed to keep the same cabin?
  15. Cases do usually arrive very promptly, but, if you put a bottle in hand luggage, you can enjoy while unpacking or, indeed, waiting anxiously.
  16. I’ve read on here that if Grills passengers want to dine in the Britannia, say with friends, it should be OK, and they can just turn up, but that clearly wouldn’t work at dinner.
  17. Or, if you really can’t face the extra luggage, stick to the informal venues coming over, then visit M&S for some formal wear just before the Westbound crossing and enjoy all the splendours of the ship. It’ll come in handy, as you’ll probably enjoy yourself so much that you’ll want to book again. 🙂
  18. You will have no problem. Take whatever you want.
  19. Every evening? I suppose only with open seating diners.
  20. And, not being in the UK, you had your deposit returned.
  21. Not with Mallorca, which, aside from a couple of resorts, is generally looked on as rather an elegant destination, much favoured by Germans and Spaniards (and Robert Graves) rather than cheap and cheerful British. Daytime wear, even on Cunard, is a matter of preference, and I can’t say I have ever noticed much correlation between it and conversational preferences. I repeat, have you ever been there?
  22. On our QV Med. cruise in 2019, we booked a Q4 as soon as it went on sail. By the time, more than a year later that we sailed, we had seen the price more than double, then, in the few weeks before sailing, fall back slightly, but nowhere near the level we had booked at. Rarely have I seen prices fall to less than they were on the first day. This won’t help you much, but might when the next lot go on sail, which is often in September, so might be when you are on board.
  23. I can’t imagine you’ve ever been to Mallorca. 🙂
