  2. Good evening. Thank you all for your concern and prayers. It means more than you know. After taking the muscle relaxant, and eating a bite, I managed to find a tolerable position in the recliner and napped on and off for about 3 hours. I sure needed that! The working diagnosis is a bulging disc plus nerve impingement from arthritis in the "facet", both seen on a 2021 MRI. So I have to have the MRI and some x-rays repeated, to see if it's worse. That's not until the beginning of December and I see the Neurosurgeon December 19. I suspect surgery will be the recommendation. @Seasick Sailor Your Christmas gifts sounds delicious. My DM was from GA and made something similar, mainly with collards and mustard greens. @Heartgrove I'm glad the phones are getting straightened out. I back up my phone to my PC, using iTunes rather than the cloud. I can just transfer all the info to a new phone. Although these days you can just put the phones next to each other and they do their magic and transfer stuff. @StLouisCruisers I'm glad you asked about the Kong, as I had no clue either. @Cruzin Terri I'm glad DH got looked at by Orthopedics UC and that there was no fracture. Also that they are treating him and will see him back to follow-up. Sounds like a good place you went to. @Vict0riann I'm sorry to hear about so many changes to your cruise itinerary. @cruising sister It's important DB's doctors identify the organism, so they can get him on the right IV antibiotics. Such good news about Murphy! She's been through so much; I hope she continues to progress. @dfish I don't have pain pills per se, just the muscle relaxant and the Gabapentin which may help nerve pain in the long run. I had tried a higher dose years ago, and had trouble with staggering. But I'd rather do that, if I can decrease the pain. @Quartzsite Cruiser I hope you get the motorhome's new batteries in without too much trouble. Time for dinner!
  3. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I'll salute Dominican independence. Does paying my copay at the doctor's office count? I have occasionally had a stout beer. Nice quote. Pass on the meal (fish), maybe on the drink and yes to the wine. I've never been to Liverpool. 2 good days in history. It's 56 and sunny now, the start of a few nice days. I don't know what to do with myself. I had the same almost 3 hours of sleep. After getting up I had the usual leg/back pain, but it didn't subside or wax and wane like it typically does. Driving hurts a lot, keeping my leg on the accelerator. I had my appointment with the Neurosurgery PA. I had to park a ways away, and it was agony walking to the office and just sitting there. So now I'm scheduled to get an MRI and lumbar spine x-rays. I'm increasing the Gabapentin again and ordered a muscle relaxant. I'll see the surgeon in mid-December. I'm to continue PT and working on losing some weight. I stopped in at PT to schedule and they felt sorry for me and put hot packs on my back and leg. I had planned to make a couple of other stops on the way home, but was just in too much pain. I finally got some relief sitting at my desk now. @seagarsmoker Cool to be visiting Dominica on their independence day! Thanks for the photos. @Heartgrove I hope you got your phones straightened out today. @StLouisCruisers Great photos from Liverpool. @grapau27 Thanks for the photos, and history of stout beer. @superoma I'm glad the surgery went well. @kazu Enjoy being at home; I await that this weekend. @aliaschief It sounds like you've had a lovely time on this cruise. Very nice sail away photos. @kochleffel I admire you trying to continue your course work while cruising. Nice photos. Sorry to hear of the missing ports. @dfish Early Happy Birthday to River! @ottahand7 Ouch! I hope you can get the tooth situation taken care of quickly. @Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos of Liverpool. @Cruising-along Thanks for sharing your photos. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  5. Thanks for letting me know. Are you doing the maiden voyage of the Celebrity Ascent? @aliaschief Nice photos! @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm not sure about insurance requirements, but I also suspect most patients want to try something non-surgical first, in hopes it works.
  6. @57redbird I'm sorry to hear your improvement was so short-lived. @Cruzin Terri I understand the position you're in. Hugs. @seagarsmoker I'm glad you had a good day in St. Lucia. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the good responses to the epidural shots were so low. You get the impression that it can be a miracle treatment. But I'm sure they have to try non-surgical things first.
  7. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. I will remember my DM on this All Souls Day. BFF occasionally will make me dinner, but not today. I'll delay planning my epitaph, although I do want to make arrangements in advance, one of these days. Good quote. I'll pass on the meal. I like the drink, which can put you on your rear quickly if slurped too quickly. Yes to the wine also. I have not been to Kochi City. An important day for Indonesia. We almost broke the record for low temp (25F) on this date. It was 26 this AM and is going up to 46F. At least it's sunny. And 60's for the weekend. Same old issues with sleep; I got about 3.5 hours. At least I managed a 1 hour nap yesterday afternoon, in the recliner. I saw the PMR (rehab) doctor today, as a follow-up. I'm going to increase my Gabapentin by 1 capsule a day to try to help the nerve pain. Also she sang the praises of the Neurosurgeon, whose PA I'll see tomorrow. And she filled out paperwork for a handicapped placard for my car, but I read it takes 6-8 weeks to get it. @grapau27 Thinking of you and Pauline on this 12th memory of your dear mam. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for posting the drink recipe today. Sorry you didn't sleep well either. @kazu Enjoy your lunch with your BFF. Ivan is a lucky dog to have ended up with someone as caring as you. @Heartgrove It doesn't sound right that it would take that long to transfer data from the old phones to the new. And transferring stuff to the wrong phones! Oy! @aliaschief That meal looks delicious. @cat shepard I hope your electrical work passes with flying colors. @Seasick Sailor I'm sorry to hear of your sleepless night. Enjoy girls' game night. @Vict0riann Sorry you missed Cartegena. I stopped there once, and unfortunately my knee was so bad I couldn't do any walking. I just got off the ship to say I'd been there, and got back on. @smitty34877 I'm so glad you have heat. The thermocouple on my boiler tends to go bad every few years. Your soup sounds good. It's great that DD and DS have done the organizing for Lou's remembrance; hugs to you all. @Nickelpenny I do hope you get some answers before your cruise. @ger_77 I'm glad DH got a good report from the Cardiologist, and the ok to cruise. @bennybear Great Kochi photos. @Sharon in AZ Enjoy your time with the ladies group, and then Craig. @Cruzin Terri Sorry to hear about Jim's knee. It would be good to at least get an x-ray, if he'd go. That way maybe no surprises on your cruise. I'm glad you're sleeping better. @cruising sister Thanks for sharing the good news about Murphy! I'm so glad to hear it. And also that DB is feeling better. And best to you for your surgery. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  9. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit! I'll salute authors, no pet to cook for, and family literacy is important. It's also Dias de los Muertos. I like the quote. I've never made a spatchcock chicken. Pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I have been to Juneau on the Ryndam in 2009. The diphtheria vaccine was an important breakthrough. There were bands of snow showers here earlier, with some areas getting 4" and others (like mine) only getting a few flurries. It's 32F with a high of 41. I'll be staying inside; it's the first weekday without an appointment for a while. I took a Benadryl last night and crashed around 10PM due to being so tired. While it helped me fall asleep, I still only got about 3-1/2 hours total, as I couldn't lay down due to pain. I came downstairs early and tried to nap in the recliner, but the leg pain was just too much. I have a check-in call to pain management, but the next big step is seeing the Neurosurgery PA on Friday. Tomorrow is PMR doctor. I have some stuff I need to do around the house, so I'll make an attempt. @kochleffel @Vict0riann @ocean sounds Bon Voyage! @seagarsmoker Enjoy your day! @aliaschief It sounds like a fun Halloween onboard. @StLouisCruisers Great photos. @Nickelpenny I'm glad you're getting the MRI. @kplady @GTVCRUISER Nice photos. @ottahand7 I was in Glacier gardens; not sure if that's the same place. @Quartzsite Cruiser Excellent photos. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers to those Celebrating. A few photos. Arriving to the dock area in Juneau. They were celebrating 50 years of statehood (2009). Being greeted by a moose on debarkation. Mendenhall glacier. We were supposed to do a helicopter ride and land on a glacier, but the weather was not good and it was too windy. So we went whale watching instead.

  11. Good evening. Before going for my haircut I was so sleepy, despite coffee, that I had to munch on a few chocolate covered espresso beans. The trip to the salon (only around the corner) was somewhat eventful. I walked there slowly, aided by a cane. When I got into the chair for the shampoo, with my legs elevated and body reclining back, the right leg started to hurt really bad. It continued while I was in the chair, and it was all I could do not to moan out loud. I went out their back door, which is right across the alley from my garage. By the time I did that little walking, it was easing a lot. Then BFF came by to pick up something and just chat for a bit. To console myself with how I've been feeling, I did a little retail therapy. I ordered the new Apple Watch 9, and will trade in my 7. I think I'll also try some Benadryl tonight to see if that helps me stay alseep. @Sharon in AZ Condolences to you on the loss of your Aunt and your DM on the loss of her sister. Enjoy the trip to San Diego. @Overhead Fred Wow on that snow; I'm glad you didn't have to drive through that for long. @smitty34877 It warms my heart to know how committed you all are to having the teenager have a great young adulthood, especially given the circumstances. @durangoscots I hope your heat is fully functional now. Good luck with your clearing projects. @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm glad you got the golf cart in working order. Handy that you have an engineer around! I'm glad there was nothing of concern on DH's CT scan. @seagarsmoker Too bad about so many of the businesses being closed. @cruising sister Thanks for the update on DB. I'm glad he did well, and can get his antibiotics not too far from home.
  12. That's great news! I hope it continues. @superoma You all look great!
  13. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Happy Halloween! No pumpkin here to carve. I don't know if I have any psychic powers. I'll salute the Girl Scout founder. A quote from one of my favorite books. I'll pass on the meal, drink and wine. Dinner will be stuffed pepper soup. I haven't been to Guernsey Island. An important day in history. It's cloudy here, and we may not get out of the 30's. Possible dusting of snow later. I have an appointment for a haircut this afternoon. I usually walk as it's around the corner, so I hope it won't be too big a challenge these days. I had less than 3 hours of sleep; whenever I'd get the pain to settle down, as soon as I laid down it was back. My leg really hurt this morning, but has settled down a bit now. I may try to do a little raking later. Not the yard, just the walkway and sidewalk, as curb pickup is tomorrow (or maybe Thursday due to Monday's rain). @Vict0riann Sorry about your walking issues; I can relate. Back in May on my TA I really couldn't do any excursions with a lot of walking (although I did in Normandy because I just had to see things). @StLouisCruisers Great photos from St. Peter Port. The book you mentioned is on my radar to read. @kazu Be careful when you go out! Thanks for the port photos. @Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos from St. Peter Port. @Cruzin Terri I'm glad you feel better today; I had something similar yesterday, I think due to my RA injection. Congrats on the Caribbean cruise! You two deserve some relaxation time. And very nice of someone on the roll call to invite you to join them for dinner. @smitty34877 I am glad Tana is feeling somewhat better, but sorry to hear that she's so weak. I hope that you are doing ok, as well. @ger_77 Yay on the cruise final payment. I'm glad the Ninja air fryer is working out. @cruising sister Prayers for a successful surgery for your DB. Hugs to you for getting through your DD DH's birthday. A very cute little one all dressed up. @superoma Prayers all goes well with your cataract surgery on Thursday. @RMLincoln Prayers all works out with the movers! Enjoy the visiting family. @Lady Hudson Good news. @ocean sounds Enjoy your getaway! Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  15. Brrr. The temperature continues to go down. @Quartzsite Cruiser You're a talented cake decorator! I'd take a slice of that too. @StLouisCruisers DD is very talented. @HAL Sailer Thanks for checking in. Quite a cool memory! I hope DH is relatively stable at this point.
  16. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I'm not a candy corn fan. I dislike mischief night; one time home from college someone egged my car and tried to sugar the gas tank (luckily the gas cap was tricky and they couldn't get it off). I frequently make checklists so as not to forget things. Funny quote. Maybe on the meal if no actual coconut, only coconut milk. I like the drink and wine. I have not been to Belfast. It's a rainy day here, with dropping temps. We were in the 50's this morning; now 47. Possible flurries tomorrow! I'm tired of not being able to do much. Can't lay or recline or stand. Trying to make my soup yesterday, I had to keep sitting down. My night was the usual. I went to PT earlier, and came back home, as I was in too much pain to do anything. It's eased off a bit now. @seagarsmoker Sorry to hear your cabin temperature is so high. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for the Belfast photos. @aliaschief That meal sounds wonderful. @RMLincoln It sounds like you're making good progress. Enjoy having family visit. @Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos. @cat shepard Nice shot of the full moon. @Nickelpenny I hope they get to the bottom of your leg numbness. @Mtn2Sea Thanks for the interesting photos. @kochleffel Enjoy the Prado. 18. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Sometimes I feel like a hermit, especially during the pandemic, but I don't mind being with myself. Cat day will be popular here. I feel for those who suffer with psoriasis. It's also World Stroke Day to raise awareness of stroke, its symptoms and prevention. Interesting quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Maloy. It's a cloudy, rainy day here, 55F now. I thought I heard thunder early this AM, during my sleepless time. Later in the week we may have wind chills in the 20's! I'm not ready for that. I'm about the same; about 4 hours of sleep last night. I feel bad as every day BFF texts and asks how I am, then says he feels helpless because he can't do anything to make me feel better. I managed to get laundry done yesterday, although the trips up and down to the basement aren't fun. Today I'll try to make the soup I didn't get around to making yesterday. @Haljo1935 Bon Voyage! @RMLincoln How nice that your friend will be there with you when the movers come. @seagarsmoker Enjoy your cruise. 20. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. I'm all for an outdoor cocktail party! I am a big Statue of Liberty fan, collect replica statues, and was at the rededication Liberty Weekend in 1986 along with millions of other people. Plus animals are cute and chocolate is always a favorite. Interesting quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Long Beach. Use of fingerprints revolutionized police investigation. Prohibition was a fail. It's 66 and cloudy here. The last warmish day I think. I had another rough night, but then when I get up and have to stand I have even more numbness and pain. It is gradually easing as I sit at the PC. No fun! And now my eye wants to flare, but I'm catching it early; I think it's stress which many with uveitis say can cause a flare. I hope to be able to get laundry done, and maybe make stuffed pepper soup. That's all I can manage. At least so far only a sore arm from yesterday's vaccines. And perhaps I'll watch Pitt vs ND (and hope we're not embarrassed by their performance). @seagarsmoker Bon Voyage! @aliaschief Thanks for all the info about your cruise. @Heartgrove Good idea to get that bite area checked out. @RMLincoln Yay on getting the letter! Good luck with all the cleaning out and getting rid of things you won't take with you. I'm sure you'll settle in your new place and make wonderful new connections. I hope DH's eye pressure settles and he has less itching. @smitty34877 I'm glad Tana is feeling a little better; hopefully as temps drop so will the humidity. @dfish Thanks for the recipes. LOL on DB's choice of dinner. @ger_77 Brrrr; the frozen tundra is living up to it's name. @Nickelpenny Nice LB photos. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating. From 1986 Liberty Weekend

  22. A sad day indeed, Roy. Condolences to all who knew them. Terri, I have ones with light sensors, so they turn on when it gets dark and off during the day (unless it's very cloudy). I don't think they use much electricity, especially if I put in little LED bulbs.
  23. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Black cats are pretty, but I've never had one. I may have to have a Yuengling (America's oldest brewery and based in PA). I salute all who serve or served in the Navy. Interesting quote. Maybe on the meal, yes to the drink and wine. I have not been to Callao-Lima. I'll salute the treaty. I know of, but have never seen Rebel Without a Cause. It's 74F and cloudy. It's due to rain tomorrow and Sunday. I got somewhat better sleep, having taken a benadryl before bed. I woke up at 2 and then 6 with pain, numbness and tingling. In the shower my leg felt very numb and I was fearful of falling. It's a claw foot tub and I can't find a shower seat for it. Then I went to PT and did most of my routine. Next was a stop at the pharmacy for my flu and Covid vaccines, followed by a quick grocery store run. I then finished mowing the lawn, and that only took about 15 minutes as I'd done most of it yesterday. I'd like to do laundry, but I'm pooped. So tomorrow for that. @grapau27 Happy Birthday! The dinner with Pauline and Sarah looks nice. @Norseh2o Bon Voyage! @StLouisCruisers Thanks for the photos. How nice that DS and DDIL will have a getaway during spring break. @Crazy For Cats Thanks for the photo of Mona. @smitty34877 I hope Tana is starting to feel better. @dfish I'm glad you're getting the money owed you.
