  2. Good afternoon. Well, although I had some leg tingling, I managed to get about 80% of the lawn mowed. Then I started feeling tired and somewhat shaky, so I stopped. I can finish tomorrow after PT and then getting my flu and Covid shots. @cat shepard Thanks for the information. Volvos are great cars. I'd like to get a hybrid, I think. I love my Acura RDX, but there won't be a hybrid, just an all electric (and costing $60k or more, which I won't pay). My RDX is a 2015 and I don't even have 30k miles, so it's probably cost effective to just hang on to it for now. @Mtn2Sea Great photos, thanks. Nice photo of DW and the Duke. @dfish Thank you for sharing your recipe. @mamaofami I'm glad to hear that Sam is home, hopefully for good. Prayers that your grandson gets into the school he wants.
  3. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I've never had mincemeat, but was always intrigued by it. I'll salute horseless carriages and the deployed (as well as their families). Funny quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to Oban. 2 good days in history. Another nice day here today. While I did get more sleep, my pain has been off the scale today. I went to bed early, after benadryl for my injection. I slept until about 2 AM, and when I attempted to sit up I had the most horrendous back and leg pain. I wondered if the manipulations at the pain clinic had anything to do with it. I managed to get that to settle down, and had a series of catnaps. After I posted the Cares list I slept until after 8! So about 5 hours total. But when I got up, my right leg was so painful and had tingling and numbness. I barely could put weight on it, and thought I might have to call 911. I managed to get dressed, as the plumbers were coming. It has eased up some, and I hope more so as the day goes on. I called to get an appointment with the recommended neurosurgeon (who has glowing reviews online), but she had nothing until January. So I'm going to see her PA next Friday, who may get the ball rolling with repeat imaging and anything else she thinks I need. I wanted to mow the lawn today; I'll see how I feel later. Some of the boiler plumbing is replaced and the new toilet is in! @StLouisCruisers I know everyone appreciates your prayers. @grapau27 Thanks for the information on Day of the Deployed. @cat shepard Can you remind me what vehicle you got? @kazu Take some time to relax if you can; you've been so busy! I really need to find someone to do snow removal and mow the lawn. It's so hard to find anyone reliable. @aliaschief It sounds like they're treating you very well. Enjoy! @Nickelpenny Oops! I'll correct it. @RMLincoln I know you have a lot to do, just be careful not to injure yourself. And getting more sleep is great. Now just for the legal document to come! @cruising sister Thanks for the updates. DB must have osteomyelitis (infection in the bone) to require antibiotics for that long. And I hope Murphy can get off the ventilator. Prayers for them both, and the families. I'm glad you feel ok from the vaccines. @Quartzsite Cruiser Oh no on the roof leak! Your meal is making me hungry. @smitty34877 I'm glad the hospice nurse could get a new IV in for Tana. Hugs to you and Tana as you go through the photos; I hope the good memories will help sustain you. @ger_77 Welcome home! Great photo of the family. I'm glad you stayed safe on the nasty roads. @dfish I hope the brace helps. Great recipes. @kochleffel Feel better, and safe travels! @NextOne Yay! Good to see you and know that you're doing well. Now just relax and heal. Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

  5. Good evening. I'm back from my appointment. Driving there was awful, with lots of leg pain. I'm not sure why driving is so bad for it. I took a cane, as it's a bit of a walk from the parking garage to the office. The pain management doctor, nurse and fellow were very thorough. They didn't think anything was a complication of the procedure. The nurse took a photo of my back showing a bruise around the injection site (I was unaware of it). There's perhaps a little weakness on the right side. So it could be I will be a late responder to the injection. He offered some meds for sleep (mainly antidepressants), but I'll try Benadryl first. He told me what type of things not to do at PT. And he wants me to see a neurosurgeon just to see what they think. He doesn't want to wait until I have any permanent damage. They might say whether another injection would help, done from a different angle. Or maybe opening the area where the nerve emerges (the foramina) using minimally invasive surgery. Perhaps repeat the MRI (I think it should be redone). Avoid certain exercises at PT. And of course continue to work on losing weight. So I'll call tomorrow to see if I can get in to see the neurosurgeon he recommended. This is not something I was expecting.

  7. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I was howling last night, although not at the moon. I'll salute artists. I won't be a punk for a day. Good quote. Yes to the meal. Pass on the drink and wine. I've been to Saint Lucia on my first ever cruise, in 2004 on the Golden Princess - I'm not sure of the port name. BFF and I went on a catamaran to see the Pitons. It's 56 and cloudy, but going to be a nice day. I had the worst night of sleep last night. My watch shows I got 1H50min. I tried to remember things to be grateful for during the night, but it was tough. I had managed a 40 minute nap yesterday afternoon. The pain center called earlier and wanted to get me in today at 3. I had a dental cleaning at 2, and called to see if I could get in earlier or another day. Next available hygienist appointment is May 2024! I took it and asked to be put on the cancellation list. @seagarsmoker Happy Anniversary! @StLouisCruisers Happy Birthday to your niece Amy. Good luck to Ren with his eventual decision about where to play. Thanks for the Saint Lucia photos. @smitty34877 Continued prayers for Tana, you and the family. I hope the IV gets straightened out and that the antibiotics are working for Tana. @RMLincoln I hope DH's eye pressure improves. Condolences on the loss of your cousin. I envy those with lots of family. @0106 Nice photos. @Haljo1935 Safe travels. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos. @dfish Thanks for the recipes. @rafinmd Sorry to hear of all the scheduling issues and the elevation in PSA. Prayers that the PET scan is easier this time. @ottahand7 Nice photos. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  9. Of course the pain management people called while I was at PT. I could have forwarded the home phone to my cell, although there are no cell phone signs around (but it was pretty empty today). I couldn't do much at PT, just some stretching after an ice pack, and a hot pack at the end. I called back but since they close at 4, I don't expect to hear anything today. I told them I'd be here until 1:30 tomorrow, as I have a dental cleaning at 2. @aliaschief Nice suite! I've never stayed in a suite of any kind. @Cruising-along I'm sorry to hear of your poor sleep. I'm not one to nap, but I might try this afternoon, if I can stand the recliner effect on my leg. @dfish Hopefully you can be scheduled soon after the CT is done.
  10. Terry, I'm sorry to hear that Tana has pneumonia again. I'm sure cooler weather has adverse affects on her breathing as well. Prayers that the IV antibiotics will kick this infection. It's good that you want to do more normal things again. Prayers for your healing as well. Terri, that's good that you got an appointment for this week. I hope the doctor can come up with a plan to help. The phone just rang; I normally wouldn't answer, but thought it might be the pain clinic. Political call, ugh! My luck they'll call while I'm at PT.
  11. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I'll salute all 3 days, although I never really ate bologna until college. Good quote. I like the meal, drink and wine. I haven't been to Pointe-a-Pitre. A good day for Sheffield FC. It's sunny but starting off chilly. Up to 70 later. Well, I got about 3 hours of sleep, and gave up around 4AM. Most of the night was spent trying to find some position I could just lay in for a few minutes. Usually I'm moaning and praying during the severe pain, but I cried last night. 😢 Then this morning my leg was so numb I felt very unstable while taking a shower. So I called pain management and left a message on the nurse line, asking what can I do? Would an NSAID help any, or increasing my Gabapentin? Right now I'm feeling ok. I have PT later today. @aliaschief Bon Voyage Bruce and Sue! Your dinner last night sounds fabulous, and cool on that breakfast delivery. @Overhead Fred Happy Birthday! @Seasick Sailor Happy 32nd Anniversary Joy and Allen! @Spudd Cool photos. Welcome to the Daily! @kazu I'm glad you're home, even if it was difficult getting there. Condolences on the loss of Jose's BFF's DW; prayers for you, her DH and their family. @superoma I have no advice on the roses, but so nice to keep them going as they are meaningful to you. @cat shepard Cute ghost fashions. @smitty34877 Good news on not needing more digging to get rid of the oil. I hope you are doing ok, as well as Tana. @Cruzin Terri I hope the doctor can give you some answers about DH. @cruising sister Good news on the great stress test results. Good luck with your shots. @dfish Thanks for the recipes. I hope you get a date for the hernia repair. @puppycanducruise Great fall photo. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

  13. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. No MIL here. I recall moles and millimoles from college chemistry. There are a few decent talk show hosts around. Funny quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I have been to NZ, but not been to Gisborne. It's 56 and sunny here, after this AM's low of 34. It was lovely driving weather to take my car for inspection. The short section of the PA Turnpike I used had lots of golden trees, as the leaves were turning. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I had another awful night, with lots of pain and tingling in my leg, and inability to sleep. My techniques to ease it didn't do much. I need to be able to sleep! Usually when I finally get up for the day and move around it settles, but not today. My leg felt almost wooden on the gas pedal when I took my car in, and while I waited for the work to be done. It has finally improved now that I'm home. I looked at the post-procedure blurb, and it said you might have worse pain for 72 hours (this is longer). I'll hold off on calling for a few days. I'm to officially report in next Wednesday, 2 weeks after the injection. At least nothing was wrong with the car, just inspections and an oil change. @grapau27 Thanks for the mole explanation. @Heartgrove Lovely photos of Lily! @cat shepard I just posted something in one of the tech areas about the bolding issue, so I'll see if a mod answers. @RMLincoln I'm cheering you on as you take on your moving chores. @smitty34877 Nice park setting. I live near a nice one, but sadly we are warned not to walk alone (and I don't have a dog). The sun shining on one's face is always reinvigorating, I find. @Seasick Sailor Thanks for posting that reply. I think we all like a "daily" thread, not an ongoing one. @Cruzin Terri You did what you had to do. I hope DH can get some help; perhaps his anxiety is connected to his memory issues? Hugs to you both. @Mtn2Sea Thanks for the photos from Gisborne. @aliaschief Happy to hear that you and your luggage made it safely to Montreal! @Vict0riann Happy Birthday to your DS! Sorry to hear your DSIL tested positive. I hope she can change her plans and not expose others. @cruising sister I hope your stress test results were good. Continued prayers for Murphy. Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

  16. I do sleep with a small pillow under my left knee, as if it's straight all night I can't bend it without a lot of pain the next morning. But not on the side that hurts. I did try the zero gravity position (both head and feet up a little), but that hurts more. Maybe I'll try a pillow on the right side. Thanks. Terri, I'm sorry to hear this news. Prayers for things to settle down for you two.
  17. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. I hope we can all make a difference, including helping neighbors. Fossils are interesting and I like most nuts for eating and baking. I know of this famous quote by Wiesel. I like the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine, although a bit pricey for me. I haven't been to Stockholm. 2 important days in history. It's 49F and cloudy. We may have our first frost tomorrow morning. Well, I'm not happy. I woke up at 5AM with leg pain and lots of tingling. My prior methods of soothing it didn't seem to work. It eased up, but as soon as I laid down it was back again. Finally after about 90 minutes I could fall back asleep, but lots of tingling on awakening. I had been hopeful after the first 2 days seemed better, but now it's back to baseline or worse. I did some cleaning of the bathroom floor grout, but I don't think that stressed it much. I'll see how today goes. Tomorrow I have to take my car for inspection, about 30 miles away. Something has changed in posting, as the bold lines are not showing up in the Care List on transfer or even posting now I can't bold anything. @grapau27 Thanks for the link. @StLouisCruisers @daisybertie Nice photos from Stockholm. @Lady Hudson I'm glad you're having a good cruise and that DH is doing well at home. @Heartgrove That's a lovely fall scene. And great Stockholm photos. @Quartzsite Cruiser That's a nice assortment of photos from Stockholm. @0106 Have a safe flight! Oh the tribulation of having to cook for oneself again after a cruise, is real. @RMLincoln Prayers that DH gets the letter he needs, so there's no necessity for a Plan B! @cunnorl Enjoy having family there with you! @kochleffel Thanks for the photos. @Cruzin Terri I will remove you if you want, although we'll still pray for you. I didn't get any mail from you so far. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  19. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I will try not to babble. I have my mother's tin of buttons, but don't count them. I like nachos. Nice quote. The meal looks good; winter meals are often soup for me. Strawberry margaritas are a favorite of mine. I'll pass on the wine. I haven't been to Surabaya. I'll salute Florence Nightingale. It's cloudy here, and there was some morning rain. I slept well, after taking a benadryl before bed and the prior night's lack of sleep. When I woke up, I didn't have time to stretch my back, and had a lot of tingling and numbness in my leg, plus some pain. I hobbled to the bathroom, then tried to stretch after I got back in bed. I hope the epidural steroids will start to kick in more as time goes on. I may try to do laundry today. I also want to clean the floor (the grout) in the downstairs bathroom. When the plumber came to check the boiler and toilet, he found I need some new pipes for the boiler. And I decided to get a new commode that's higher than the 1950's one that in there. He will come on Thursday to do all this. @Lady Hudson Happy Birthday to you and your twin! @StLouisCruisers That's good that Scott can work toward getting transferred to rehab. Congrats to FC Dallas and Ren. I use a trickle charger too, if gone for a while. @cat shepard That's bad about the accidents. @rafinmd I like that moody statue photo from Surabaya. @smitty34877 Sorry that fixing the oil tank leak may turn into something big. But I'm glad you have heat! Good luck with the closet cleanout. Hugs to you. @dfish Enjoy the wedding and family! Lovely view of fall foliage. @HAL Sailer Thank you for the update on your DH. 21. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. A friend of my DM used to give me brandied peaches in a jar at Christmas when I was growing up, and I thought I was very grown up, lol. It didn't have to be "fed"; never heard of that. The German fruit bread I make every year for Christmas doesn't use brandied fruits. I will salute chefs and UK waiters. Great quote. Pass on the meal (fish), drink and yes to the wine. I'll take Roy's meal. I haven't been to Rostock, although I've seen a good bit of Germany. 2 good days in history. It's rainy and cool here, with a temp of 56F. There was about 15 minutes of sunshine at one point, now gone. Sunday will have a high of 50, but 70 on Tuesday! I had insomnia last night, I think due to the steroid shot, and was awake until shortly after 2AM. I think I'll take a benadryl tonight. I had some leg pain on waking up (probably 1/3 of what it had been) and tingling. I went to PT late morning and did fine, followed by a quick stop in the grocery store. @sailingdutchy Bon Voyage to you and Martha! @StLouisCruisers Best of luck to Ren and FC Dallas this weekend. It's nice that DS won't have to fly in this time. @RMLincoln I felt weird about putting my name on the Care List, for some reason. Wow, your move is coming up fast! I do hope you can get some help. Your Spiritual Companioning group sounds lovely. I hope all the details that need to work out do so. @Cruzin Terri Continued prayers that everything works out for you and DH. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos. @Haljo1935 Sorry to hear about the port change, but the worst part is no notification and the continued selling of excursions. @dfish Safe travels tomorrow. @smitty34877 Continued prayers for you, Tana and the whole family. @Heartgrove Great photos. @Sharon in AZ I'm glad you got the ok to proceed with cataract surgery. I hope Craig's appointment went well today, and that your DSIL recovers well. @Vict0riann Good to hear that you're feeling better today. @durangoscots Susan, I hope your stomach feels better soon. Maybe some ginger ale? That always helps me. @Crazy For Cats Jake, that sounds like a good job on the gutters. I'd like something like that, but my house has box gutters. The stuffed pepper soup sounds good; I have a recipe and will have to make some soon. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers to those Celebrating.

  23. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. I don't think I need to evaluate my life today. Worldwide conflict resolution would be a great thing. I don't know if my usual at home dress of sweatpants and a t-shirt qualifies as dorky. Interesting quote. I like the meal, maybe on the drink (I've never had a mule) and yes to the wine. I have been to Santiago/San Antonio as the departure port for my SA/Antarctica cruise (they were striking at Valparaiso). A great day in medicine, and awful day in finance. Today is the pick day of the week. There's sunshine and a high temp later of 66F, after a 41F start this AM. It would be a good day for yard work, but I'll still take it easy. And curbside leaf collection doesn't start until the week of the 30th. Damp and chilly for the weekend. I still had leg pain and tingling in my leg when I woke up, but the pain was probably 1/3 less. So that's some progress, although I wasn't expecting much this soon. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for the photos from Valparaiso, which I didn't get to see. @RMLincoln Lots going on! I'm sorry to hear the grandkids are sick, but you don't need to catch anything from them. I hope you get to move on the earlier schedule, with more help from the movers. @Haljo1935 I'm glad you got the Int'l DL. Sorry you're still feeling poorly from all your shots. @Quartzsite Cruiser Nice photos. @ottahand7 I hope you like the new oven; probably much advanced over your old one. @superoma I'm hoping to get both shots in the same arm, like last time, to avoid that scenario. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those with something to Celebrate.
