  1. Since PHX is my home airport, I can help with some thoughts. British Airways has a non-stop from AZ to London Heathrow. However, they use an old plane for that route.

Most of the U.S. carriers fly that same route but require a change of planes. You might want to check out Air New Zealand. They fly non-stop from Los Angeles and offer a cool version of Premium Economy.

I generally pay extra for economy plus which gives a bit extra legroom but doesn't give extra width to the seats.

  2. Princess use two berths in Southampton, Mayflower Terminal (berth 106) & Ocean Cruise Terminal (berth 46)

Hopefully your ship is on this list:

Mayflower is a 20 minute walk to the station, much of it in the docks but on sidewalks. Ocean is 5 minutes longer, but a more pleasant & interesting route.

There's no restriction on walking out of the docks, and it's all level ground, all on sidewalks, roads to cross but with traffic lights to help.

On this map, A is Mayflower Terminal, B is the train station, C is Ocean terminal

Taxis available at both terminals, the fare will be £8 to £10.

Three trains per hour to Winchester, which is a 15-20 minute ride. Buy a "day-return" ticket - pay in sterling or plastic.

Winchester's station is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the centre, mainly downhill.

Follow this route, which takes you via the Great Hall of Winchester castle (the only part of the castle still standing, & houses a 13th century copy of King Arthur's round table), then down High Street past the little West Gate museum, the last part of the High Street is pedestrianised.

If you don't fancy the walk back to the station, there's a taxi rank in Broadway, at the bottom end of High St.

    JB :)

This is helpful. I am boarding the NCL Escape later this fall for the TA. Is it walkable (shows Berth 46) from the bus station to the port? I will have my carryon (backpack) and a rolling bag.

Is it walkable from the bus terminal?

I've seen mostly recommendations for a cab but I would prefer to walk as I could at least "see" the city.

    Thanks

    Dena

  3. OP,

If an individual is in a frequent flyer club -- name actually varies by airline -- there is a page for a traveler to maintain his/her personal profile for each airline. In each of those profiles, there is a place to enter a trusted traveler number. As others have said, this number gets picked up when flying on that airline. But the crunch time for GOES certified passengers comes re-entering the country regardless of airline.

When you got your GOES number, you also should have gotten a small GOES ID card. Did you? (If not, prior to your trip contact the powers that be at the closest GOES office to get one.) Carry this ID card with you on your trip. That way, if you have trouble scanning your passport at the special GOES kiosks, you'll be able to provide documentation for your GOES status. Now that I've read about the trouble you've had with your fingerprints, I'd be doubly sure to carry that card with me in your situation.

Before they offered the ID card, you got a sticker in your passport. It is small and in an upper corner (inside the cover). I had to pay extra for my ID card although I've never used it.

I did get stopped once as the machine could not read my fingerprints. Took about 10 minutes and I was on my way. I get to renew mine next year but luckily, if needed, they now have an office near me.

  4. I've taken the Eurostar from St Pancras to Paris. Very easy! We had purchased our tickets online and then you print them at a machine in the station. We too each had a rolling bag and carry on. Of course, I was stopped so they could search my rolling bag[emoji1]. It only took a few minutes. I love the train....

  5. Watch prices. On a cruise I have booked in the fall, the insides were cheaper than the studio. Although maybe not all the perks of a studio, you get more space. I have a friend who booked a studio cabin and as the date got closer, prices dropped. She ended up with a balcony cabin.
