Yes, ships are quite antiquated when it comes to wifi. You know it must be a huge money maker for them.
According to the above list, do they no longer have the packages where you have 30 minutes (or 60 or 90) that you use over the entire cruise? I was on a Celebrity TA in November and that came in handy for the occasional email check.
Maybe all the choices aren't listed.
Thanks

Since you've never been to Europe, I would pick the cruise for the ports. And stay longer before and after if you can. Also, get on the roll call for your cruise and see if you can join shore excursions with them. It's always worked for me.
I went on a transatlantic cruise solo last year. I picked a balcony in case I wanted some quiet, I could have sun. I met some great people at sailaway, and spent a lot of time with them. I am still glad I got my balcony.
I've traveled solo before, on tours knowing no one, but this was my first cruise solo.
I would do it again.

Hello - I am looking at the Oasis 2 day cruise at the end of August. I don't have a lot of vacation time left so I cannot do much longer than that. I've been on Adventure, Monarch (when she did the 3 day cruises from LA) and Splendour. The last ship I was on was the Celebrity Equinox. I almost always get a balcony as I love the daylight.
I was thinking of trying a Boardwalk balcony cabin. Do those get much sun?
What are things we must do in the short time we are on the ship?
I"d be interested in the good and the bad (crowds??).
Thanks in advance

Thanks so much. I don't drink it but my boyfriend does. We were on Princess last week and got him a coffee card so he could enjoy the brewed. We are on Celebrity in 4 weeks today. I wanted to find out for him. :)
I just sailed princess. I think both lines specialty coffees are equal. We loved hanging out at Cafe Al Bacio on the Equinox.

Thanks for the info on Starbucks. I posted my question at the same time.

Even though I always carry my passport, I would LOVE for them to put some GE kiosks in the cruise terminals!
I too would love a GE kiosk in Port Everglades. Came back from a TA in November and the custom line was awful.

To avoid this, I paid for the "Early Bird" service from Southwest. They check you in 36 hours before the flight, 12 hours before anyone else. You are all but guaranteed Boarding Group 1. At $12.50 per person, each way, it seemed the best way for us to ensure that we get to sit together with our children.
I just did early bird on southwest and got A51. I was surprised. Now it makes sense when I check in 24 hours ahead and get the low Bs. Apparently the early birds get seats after their premium frequent flyers and full priced ticket holders.
However, I am signed up for it when I am on my cruise so I don't have to worry about it.
Good luck!

I would make the move. If it matters you also get extra points in cc cabins. And the port side is the sunny one on the westbound TA (I had one on a TA in November).

They did not have it in November. I was told they don't have it due to customs from the TA.

I was on the Celebrity Equinox TA in November. I had a great time and would definitely sail them again. However, we are booked on the Crown (CA Coastal cruise) next month. Princess was about 1/2 of the cost of Celebrity. Then again, I've never had a bad cruise. Food is very subjective but I've never starved:)
The only thing I am not looking forward to are the smaller cabins (but we are on Caribe so we have a bigger balcony).
Enjoy whichever you decide.

Typically Princess will refare your booking after final payment as long as it's not a promo for new bookings only. You always have to ask, they won't reprice if the fare goes down unless you ask.

How can you tell it is a fare for new bookings only? I have a cruise booked and have called them twice only to be told it is for new bookings. Is there somewhere I am no looking? Other cruise lines are pretty obvious. I haven't sailed Princess in a while. Thanks, Dena

Thank you for sharing your story. I too, didn't use to buy insurance but I have for the past few years. I would rather lose a couple hundred dollars instead of a few thousand. Glad to hear your wife is doing better.

Log in. It just happened to me. I couldn't find the price but once I logged in, it appeared.

It shows cost and minutes included.
Assuming you use up all your purchased time my calculator says per minute cost ranges from about 60 cents per minute for the 120 minute package down to the low 30 cent per minute range for the 680 minute package.
Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. What is the cost per minute if I don't buy a package?

This only shows package costs. Can anyone tell me the cost per minute?
Thanks

I was on the Equinox TA in November. I booked a C3 as it wasn't much more than a standard balcony. I did it for the extra points. As others have said, the cabin size is the same.

I came back on the Equinox TA in December and I thought the lines were incredibly long. Luckily I gave myself more than the 3 hours recommended from disembarkation to airport. They have everyone using the same long line (US citizen or not). Give yourself plenty of time to get off the ship.

Hi, we are looking at a cruise on Crown Princess. I was looking at cabins near the aft stairs. Is there much noise from the buffet (especially chairs early in the morning)? I've been on other lines who didn't allow the chairs on the tile floor (only those on carpet) until after 8am.
Anyone stayed in a cabin below the buffet?
Thoughts?
Thanks, Dena

How was the Hotel Lloret? Would you recommend it for a 3 night stay? Were there any benefits or disadvantages of staying there?
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
Gerry
I liked the Lloret. The rooms are small but clean. The breakfast was ok but it could've been that I was jet lagged so nothing sounded good. There is a large grocery store in the basement of El Corte Ingles about a block away.
I took the aero us to the hotel which was easy and cheap. I took a cab from the hotel to the ship and it was about €12. I would stay there again.

Hello - We are looking at an April 2014 Pacific Coastal cruise (RT Los Angeles). Is there a better side of the ship to book our cabin? Is there one side with a better view when in the ports? Or one side that gets more sun?
Any info would be great.
Thanks

Check Priceline. We stayed downtown near Biscayne Marketplace (I think that was the name) and it was less than $50 per night. We took a taxi to the port and it wasn't very far.

3rd transatlantic on this ship. electronics were the only issue(s)
on Dec 1st transatlantic ...no At&t phone service available to us. The internet was also varied with response from terrible to over the top.
food and service were all very good to excellent+
any other experiences, please share
I assume you mean no Cellular at Sea service. I have AT&T and had the service almost the whole time on the Equinox TA earlier this month. I believe it was Orange when in Europe,
I did find the internet service a bit slow too.
Maybe a ship issue.

Get off early. I just did this from a Transatlantic and it took us about 1 hour to clear customs. Yes the FLL airport needs updating, but I would rather be at the terminal early. Good thing I told them my flight was earlier than it was.
Taxis were lined up to take people to the airport. It costs around $15.

CABIN #: 1287
DECK #: 10
CLASS: C3
AREA: Port/Aft
BED NEAR: Bath
QUIET?: Very
BALCONY VIEW:
BALCONY SIZE: Standard
WIND A PROBLEM?: No
SOOT A PROBLEM?: N/A
PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:
Awesome cabin. Toward the back so a bit of a walk from the central stairs. I was ok with that as I wanted the excercise (I think I took the elevators twice). 3 flights up to the buffet, 2 to the pool, and 5 down to Cafe Al Bacio. Even if it was cool out, the balcony was protected from the wind. I loved this cabin.
This is for the Equinox.

Yes. I was on the splendour late 2012. When boarding they were directing everyone to the windjammer(weren't admitting to any other options). Found Park Cafe later and realized we should have gone there instead. It would've been better and a lot less crowded. We odd have the roast beef sandwich later on the cruise. Well worth it...
