  1. The 20% gratuity isn't added in until you go to your cart to check out . Also I believe NCL just raised the price of the soda package from $7.95 per day to $9.95 per day, plus the 20% gratuity.
  2. No, there's no surcharge to book on line. I suspect the difference in price is the 20% gratuity ...the phone agent included that in the price quote while the price you saw on line didn't include it.
  3. It means either you or the phone rep were wrong about the price, which should be identical whether obtained from ncl.com or a telephone quote from an NCL rep.
  4. You're going to pay a huge premium for a mini bus van that can transport that many people and their luggage. It will likely cost a couple of hundred dollars. The trip from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal to Penn Station is only about two miles. When you look at the cost I think you'll see that a few taxis or Ubers makes a lot more sense.
  5. Perhaps this will summon the chief : @chengkp75, any comment?
  6. When I clicked on the link you provided the web page does not include the Certificate of Recovery wording you in the last paragraph of your post. Edit: I found the wording. The problem is that Celebrity is wrong.
  7. There have been no changes in the requirement for a negative COVID test so there are no updates.
  8. You're wrong. When a country's requirements are more restrictive than the cruise line's requirements the country's requirements apply. Bermuda has transferred the responsibility for verifying that your test results meet their requirements to the cruise lines, but Bermuda has not changed their test requirements to permit use of a certificate of recovery. Here are Bermuda's requirements. Note that all passengers must have a negative test . There is no option for a certificate of recovery. https://www.gov.bm/cruise-travel-authorisation 5. All passengers MUST have a negative COVID-19 test result to show at the embarkation terminal, along with their APPROVED Travel Authorization (see below for Accepted Test types).” Note Celebrity's requirements for Bermuda. There is no option for a certificate of recovery. https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/bermuda-travel-requirements Sailing Testing Requirements Pre-Arrival/Embarkation Covid-19 Testing All guests ages 2 and older must present a digital or physical copy of a supervised, negative Covid-19 test result at check-in to board their sailing, whether a pre-arrival test (for vaccinated) or test administered at the terminal (for unvaccinated). Some cruise lines emphasize the requirements even more clearly than Celebrity does to ensure their passengers understand them. Here's NCL: https://www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country Bermuda Cruise Protocols Testing Requirements: Pre-cruise: All guests over the age of 2 must provide proof of negative test per standard Sail Safe testing requirements apply. Bermuda government does not allow certificate of recovery in lieu of negative test result.
  9. Bermuda doesn't permit a certificate of recovery for arriving cruise passengers . You must have a negative COVID test.
  10. It's on their website: https://caves.bm/your-visit/ Tips for Planning Your Visit to the Crystal & Fantasy Caves The Crystal & Fantasy Caves are in Hamilton Parish in the eastern end of Bermuda. They are ten minutes journey by bus from the Town of St. George and 30 minutes by bus from the City of Hamilton. The Royal Naval Dockyard cruise ship port is located at the west end of the island. To reach the caves from the Royal Naval Dockyard the options are: Ferry from Dockyard to the City of Hamilton, then take bus route 1, 3, 10 or 11 to St. George’s and disembark at the Crystal Caves bus stop. Estimate one hour of travel. Ferry from Dockyard to St. George’s (summer months only, when ships are in port), then take bus route 1, 3, 10 or 11 to the City of Hamilton and disembark at the Crystal Caves bus stop. Estimate one hour of travel.
  11. You get the ferry at pier 11, which is located at Wall Street and the East River. The ferry dock in Brooklyn is adjacent the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, literally just a few steps away.
  12. There is an upside to prepaying as you can avoid having to pay a service charge increase announced after you book your cruise.
  13. If it's refundable on board credit, yes. If it's non refundable on board credit, no. OBC from NCL is non refundable. Credit from a travel agency is in most cases refundable.
  14. Taxi, Uber or Lyft. It can vary by traffic and demand but figure $35 to $50.
  15. You need to post your question on the Princess board and it would be helpful to identify your itinerary because that can affect the requirements.
  16. There are traffic lights in Hamilton and that's where I thought I observed the meter tick up. It was years ago so my memory may be mistaken. You have no doubt taken many more taxis than I have so I'll assume I'm mistaken.
  17. Yes, the ships test everyone on board if it's more than four days from embarkation to arrival in Bermuda. Yes, you have to get the travel authorization and pay the $40 even if you don't disembark in Bermuda. You're in Bermuda when the ship enters its territorial waters. The ship has to submit a passenger manifest for every cruise and that's how each passenger's compliance with the requirements is certified. If your name is on the manifest you must have a valid travel authorization for that cruise.
  18. I can't say for sure if this is the case in Bermuda, but it's common for taxi meters to have a time element also built in to the mileage fare structure. If the taxicab is moving below a specified speed the fare increases at some amount per minute. This is done to account for traffic delays and also if you have a taxi wait for you while you make a stop. I know the posted fare structure we see in Bermuda doesn't say they have a time-related charge but I'm fairly sure I've seen the fare tick up while the taxi is stopped.
  19. I don't know whether they exist any longer but many years ago you could find signs in subways stations in the outer reaches of Brooklyn and the Bronx that identified which platform was for trains going to Manhattan with the words "To City".
  20. Many natives of Brooklyn would disagree...😄
  21. A "cruise line" running two and three days booze/gambling cruises from Florida on a 30 year old rust bucket doesn't set the standard for anything. While it's certainly possible that other cruise lines will impose fuel surcharges it won't be because this particular cruise is leading the way.
  22. No because the decision on your status will be made by CBSA officer after interviewing you when the ship arrives in a Canadian port.
  23. This isn't a forum or a thread about Princess ships. The forum in which this thread is posted is Ask A Cruise Question, and the fact that a ship is small doesn't mean it isn't a cruise ship.
  24. It just occurred to me that no NCL ship has been docked in Bermuda on a Saturday so far this year and the first ship that will is the Joy on August 20 so no one can say at this time exactly what a Saturday schedule might be. I would assume it would be similar to the Pearl's Sunday schedule as that is the Pearl's regular arrival day in Bermuda.
