  1. We went on Ocean Village 2, it never transferred to P&O but like you it did to Princess. I organised a cruise for my elderly mother in law for this May just gone on the Regal Princess. I was amazed they picked up a cruise she did with Carnival in 1987.
  2. We did the Enchanted Princess last year and my wife has just done the Regal Princess. If you like a drink or two you are almost compelled to get the Princess drinks package adding considerable expense to your holiday whereas drink prices on P&0 are very reasonable. That said the reduction to £25 pppn looks good but still depends on the overall cruise cost. Having looked at 2024 cruises they've built that into many cruise prices I'm afraid, as Celebrity do. It's tiresome really. We've found little difference in quality to be fair, Princess probably edging it .Itinerary is now more important to us. In relation to the Caribbean its P&O and their packages / flights tip it their way, further afield is a different story. Some of the Princess offerings in that respect look quite decent but don't include flights. Skyscanner for flights is making my eyes bleed and not good news.
  3. So lucky with the weather as we've all been back home. Great review thanks and agree about that particular pool, it appears to pop up many times on here. I have an aft cabin on Arvia next Jan, slightly right of centre but if the same happens I'll making representations big time and will probably upset some entitled parent in the process.
  4. I think there was probably a degree of humour in the post. That said I'm amazed at the amount of women who I see sat with a pint of stella in front of them😄..at lunchtime. I've kind of ignored the thread to date . We have £750 OBC for our 14 night Caribbean and that will go on booze. I'll revisit the subject after then. We primarily do AI to the Caribbean or Maldives / Mauritius and I guess improved drinks packages are cruise lines trying to play catch up.
  5. Good to know. We've booked 11746 for Caribbean next Jan which is the corresponding cabin to yours, set off to the other side from the two central cabins which may or may not be in the 'fall zone'.
  6. For a decent day / afternoon out I'd jump on the train down to Portsmouth Harbour, 45 minute ride , £10.50 return, direct and trains every 15 minutes or so. You are then within walking distance of some real UK / English history. Namely the Portsmouth historic dockyard with HMS Victory ( Nelsons flagship) which you can board and the Mary Rose museum. On the same site is the National museum of the Royal Navy. You also have the Spinnaker Tower for excellent views of the harbour, plenty of pubs a large shopping centre (Gunwharf Quay) with several food outlets on your doorstep. You're also adjacent to an operating Royal Navy base, often they have some impressive warships on view. A decent, quite simple, good value DIY trip that will leave you with some excellent memories and a real flavour of English history if that's your thing.
  7. I managed to get through to Princess yesterday by phone and they confirm $100 OBC has been applied but no e mail to confirm. I've just spoken to my TA and they've confirmed and applied it to the booking. So thanks to the advice on here we have an immediate return of £230 on £700 worth of shares . I bought the shares in my wifes name as she's going with her mum next week on Princess ($100) and we're both off next Jan on Arvia (£150). P&O gave us £600 OBC for that cruise, so £750 should cover drinks. Happy days !....that said the share price is still falling but I'm not complaining.
  8. Indeed mine has been applied for a Jan 24 cruise.
  9. My reply yesterday was as follows Your shareholder benefit has been applied and a revised booking confirmation that will show the added on board credit has been sent. As you have booked via a travel agent, you will need to refer to them for the revised booking confirmation. I'm not sure if that's the way it normally works but it was so quick and easy I'll probably stick with it.
  10. We bought 100 shares with Hargreaves Landsdown a month back. E mailed P&O yesterday for our Jan 24 cruise, reply today that OBC has been applied. HL supply a pdf that I attached...so £150 OBC Princess different story. E mail sent well before the cut off but nothing else heard, they won't answer the phone and the cruise is 11 days away. P&O appear to be getting a grip of things now aggressive pricing, decent customer service.
  11. The on board spend is indeed the golden nugget, filling them first is the objective and they seem to be doing a decent job in enticing the masses to sail through Biscay and back in April🤣. Quite simply prices in the Med have gone nuts, as have flights. People are opting for best value. How many will be repeaters is a different question but the marketing right now seems pretty sound.
  12. Cheers. 🤣 Never happened in my day, well the odd day or two 😉...guilty as charged but I'm not sure a letter for a week would have winged it..
  13. I see but surely no school kiddies on this one as it doesn't come back until 30th
  14. Its a 14 day . School hols end today.
  15. Back to the OP. We avoid the buffet at all costs nowadays. It's always a bun fight and most buffet dining locations are like a motorway caf with a much better view. The problem is you can't see the view due to the bun fight over the window seats. Sorry to disappoint.
  16. It's rammed ? If P&O have filled an early April Med cruise with 5k folk outside of the school hols then they've surely nailed it. Weather looks semi decent as well, enjoy the cruise.
  17. Yes UK. No flights, live 30 minutes from the port. I was going to drive them there and enjoy 8 days of peace and quiet 🤣. Happy to pay a small fee but booked via a TA so will probably get stiffed. Thanks all.
  18. They were doing some exceptional deals a few months back. We bagged an aft cabin on Arvia with that wake view, 14 day Caribbean next Jan. With the OBC it was no different than a last minute dreaded deck 8 BC saver last Jan. We only do warm weather cruises and balcony cabins. I guess inside cold weather cruises are hard to fill but I think that's always been the case. Personally I couldn't think of anything worse but I appreciate some folk will embrace it. For the same price, yes I'd rather do a 4 nighter B&B in Devon than chugging up to Amsterdam against a stiff northerly. Horses for courses.
  19. The long and short is I booked a UK cruise for my wife and her mother. Unfortunately the mother in law isn't feeling too good and may struggle to make it. Has anyone any experience of changing a guest name at short notice, I'll take her place. Regards.
  20. We got an incredible deal with drinks package / wifi / suite included on the Enchanted Princess last summer. As it was a Med cruise and having done every destination several times we mainly stayed on board apart from Barcelona and the odd foray into some local towns rather than the major tourist attractions. We had the run of the ship on port days, no issues with sun beds and of course their excellent drinks package which we made full use of. A cruise can be exhausting or as relaxing as you want to make it. I think we've had our fill of certain ports / locations although I fully accept there's always somewhere different to explore.
  21. The same can't be said for Princess. Applied Monday morning and have heard nothing apart from an e mail acknowledgement. The cruise is on April 30th so get a feeling they'll conveniently ignore it.
  22. Cheers dave. Equiniti aren't taking new customers. They've diverted to interactive investor. I've opened an account with Hargreaves Lansdowne. I'm buying the shares on Monday when the markets reopen and trying to squeeze in some OBC for a Princess cruise at the end of the month.
  23. We've already booked Arvia for next Jan. Can anyone recommend a share platform to buy the shares or baby steps in completing the process . Cheers
  24. Neutral is off as far as I'm concerned but if I really wanted to turn it off I'd leave the balcony door open.
  25. Oops I better go sit on the naughty step then 😉 We only do warm weather cruises and its always open unless we leave the cabin or bad weather, one of our main reasons for booking a BC. The better half struggles with air con so thats usually off and door open. I'm surprised if the fire system is compromised you see so many BC doors open on port days. That said I'm not arguing, I've seen the 8 page thread on another thread and trust me I'm not going down that rabbit hole.
