  1. Exceptional value really, especially for the Caribbean in high season.
  2. Exactly this. In 2019 we got about £600 each (£1200) for a flight delay when in Cuba, which almost covered the cost of the Thomas Cook holiday itself. Fortunately we were kept at the all inclusive hotel, rooms retained, drinks flowing and compensation forms completed and submitted in the hotel lobby. I guess we were lucky but nowadays with long haul one always has to factor in flight delays. These Caribbean cruises are sold as a package holiday and are ATOL protected so there's protection built in, I'm struggling with the thoughts of some that the ultimate responsibility is with the airline for the delays, I'm not sure that entirely dissolves P&O of their responsibilities.
  3. We're in Poole, joking aside we occasionally pop down to West Quay (the better half more often than me) and usually get a decent view from IKEA or the John Lewis Restaurant of whatever ship is in, then google where she's off too, which then gets me looking at the next cruise. I wouldn't really want to be out on the water today, its blowing a hooley out there so understand the delay.
  4. I think I'd rather stay on the ship 🤣
  5. Just bumping this if that's ok. Arvia next month. Our flight home leaves at 1735hrs, just wondering when cases are collected as we're out in Barbados the evening before . Likewise what time do we have to leave our cabin on the day of disembarkation. Many thanks
  6. The video that caused me to raise the issue was on a Med cruise it appears looking at it again. We weren't expecting total silence as I was aware we were above the Sunset bar, there's also Jacuzzis which in our experience cause people to talk in raised voices. We're deck 11 above the sunset bar, I presume you were above the club house which for us won't be an issue, more the 'alleged' DJ at the Sunset bar. Sorry to hear about your problem btw. As long as he stops at a reasonable time (if he's performing) it shouldn't be an issue.
  7. Deck 11 ...good to know and thanks very much for replying. I wanted slightly further up and out of the so called 'water feature' but they were all gone and this was last Jan (for next Jan), clearly a popular choice and hopefully worth it. It will be our first 'aft' cabin, the soot issue put me off Britannia and a few others but presume no problem in that regard.
  8. Great pics, thanks. I feel a bit better now
  9. I had this romantic notion of watching the wake so booked a cabin for our upcoming Caribbean. I was aware of the risk from the infinity pool on deck 16 so booked a cabin two over to one side of the drop zone on deck 11, notwithstanding wind of course 🙂 I've just seen a recent video review which specifically says 'if you don't like thumping music don't book an aft cabin'. They then mention a DJ and loud music at the Sunset bar during the day. Anyone had any experience of this ? We've been on numerous ships with sunset bars but never had a DJ with thumping music on what we were hoping would be a peaceful part of the ship, clearly not in this case. As I said I was aware of the water risk from above but would have thought this might have been addressed by now. Sea conditions accepted someone commented on this recent review they were dressed up for the evening and got soaked from above. They were, like us in a cabin , two over from the 'drop zone'. So have I inadvertently booked a cabin where the risk of a soaking is still a problem and above a daytime nightclub with thumping music outside, it looks that way. Damnit, it was a select and I basically had the choice of anywhere when I booked 😬 with a decent OBC. If so, this will probably exceed my last 'saver' booking that allocated us a cabin on deck 8 where EVERYONE walking the promenade deck anti clockwise had no choice but to look straight at our balcony due to negotiating the glass windbreak forward🤣. That was cancelled btw..mixed feelings on that.
  10. You're right some of them are good value (we're doing the Caribbean in Jan). I say good value as we're frequent visitors to the Caribbean and taxi prices have shot up. We've also seen some of the vehicles used and so called 'operators' at the usual tourist traps so need to use a degree of caution. I've booked two P&O tours so far (Tortola and St Lucia), two Independents with a decent rep (St Maarten & St Kitts), will use our usual taxi service in Antigua (Petes Taxis). Nothing yet planned for La Romana, Martinique (may do Botanical Gardens) or Barbados, just looking at those now. As we're a couple of months ahead of you I can tell you that a few tours are already showing sold out on the P&O website, so yes book in advance. If you change your mind on a tour and want to go elsewhere you can cancel it and get an immediate refund.
  11. Yes I meant OBC on top of their discount. I already had the £600 OBC on booking plus shareholder OBC of £150. The issue is we obviously can't discuss or recommend TA's on here .
  12. My TA wouldn't accept blue light discount on top of their discount, I guess you're entitled to blue light? I went to Chantmarle, Dorset. Sadly the beauty of the place was lost on us as our instructors thought they were training the military 😉
  13. Anyone else having trouble logging in ?
  14. It's the same with adult only hotels where the adults decide to behave like kids 🤣 I'm not sure the perfect holiday exists. I've been on this forum since 2007. I don't post much but It's interesting to see the demographic on the P&O forum change more than any other cruise line. Some of the content is quite hilarious, some serious but many people simply don't like or cannot accept change. At least Virgin for example have been totally honest with whom they're marketing too and what to expect whereas P&O appear to be in new territory in that regard. I'm not sure they're getting it right if the product being marketed is failing to meet expectation from certain people (which clearly it isn't). There's also a danger the name might be dragged down with it, as clearly there are marked differences with different ships operating under the same banner.
  15. Thanks. I will follow this up as haven't received anything via them from P&O. Edit I've found it tucked away but not showing our shareholder credit.
  16. Just bumping this. For us who book via a TA do we get any sort of confirmation of OBC from P&O ? My TA have confirmed we have £750 but they aren't P&O and with such a large amount it would be nice to get something from the horses mouth before arriving in Barbados.
  17. That was the classic package, no loyalty discount. Deluxe for us is £1384.
  18. Had the same blanket e mail. £1132.60 for 14 days. The issue is I like a drink or two / three but the better half isn't that bothered so wasted in that respect. I'm hoping our £750 OBC will suffice. Can someone advise when or if OBC appears on your P&O booking / account, it's on my TA booking.
  19. It's Moretti it appears, used to be Peroni -two very decent offerings which are classed as Premium, 15 of those would sink most people. Ocean Village was our first cruise . One thing for certain the chocolate in the tumble driers on the OP's review wasn't from the turn down 🙂 We're on Arvia in January, going on with our eyes wide open but mainly for the itinerary .
  20. Is this the advice for the formal nights 😉
  21. Strange .They advertise 34" for their 787 dreamliners. Every long haul I've done with them has been 34 which has been much better than Virgin or BA economy, the Virgin Caribbean fleet being absolutely diabolical. "Most of our long-haul flights are on high-spec TUI 787 Dreamliners, so you’ll have at least 34 inches of legroom – that’s more than most planes. " https://www.tui.co.uk/discover/top-tips-for-long-haul-flights Have things changed?
  22. What happens in the hot tub hopefully doesn't stay in the hot tub 😬
  23. Princess have the same limit .
  24. Was this the TA on the Arvia, Gareth was in the Limelight club I've read elsewhere that six people were thrown off this cruise in Tortola, two for getting too friendly in a hot tub and four for fighting. Isolated incidents apparently in an otherwise excellent cruise.
