Yes. Dreadful. Shame on Denmark and Copenhagen. But nothing to do with Cunard.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't imply that Cunard is involved in this
The Qm2 is very humane to wild life and affords
Me the opportunity to travel the world and visit
The national parks and zoos
Slaughter of an African animal, endangered
On loan from Africa to Denmark .:p
Isn't this an international legal issue?
-
Or giraffe even.
Anyway, back to the QM2, the sea-scanner website says arrival in Fremantle will be in 15 hours but the webcam shows her already docked. So has she arrived early or have sea-scanner got it wrong?
Harbour webcams are here:
http://www.fremantleports.com.au/Operations/Harbourcams/Pages/default.aspx
Yes! Thanks
Looks great. 15 hours is a big difference in time

AS a world traveler on Cunard , along with the Dogs and cats in the kennels.
I am very impressed how Cunard cares for the pets on board. On rough day
at sea ,Commodore Warner made a public statement that he was concerned
that the Pets in the Kennel may get sea sick.
I have visited ports and went on tours to visit national parks and wild life.
In St.Kitts, we played with the cute monkeys. In Barbados , we swam with the Turtles. In London, we visited the Zoo. All warming experiences .
But I am very, very Outraged,Upset,Sickened about the 2 year old male healthy ZEBRA was Slaughtered. Killed. and in public display, dismembered
and thrown to the Lions in Copenhagen ZOO, Denmark.
WONDERFUL COPENHAGEN:(

But, turquoise ... I am sure you know that QM2 can do 30 knots ...
Tomorrow she will arrive at Fremantle (Perth), Australia! :)
Hi Cats. Yes , but there is not need for that speed
As in the Ocean liner days .
Ah , I lost track of where the Qm2 is.
Thanks for the update:)
I'm not in a rush; I love sea days, but I also love to experience Queen Mary 2 going real fast.
I don't know how fast the QM2 can go? 22-26knots?
I know the Qm2 can sail through storms without slowing down
As the cruise liners do, but the QM2 doesn't go full knots .
The S/S United States would go 30 knots
In a typical transatlantic crossing . -
To be frank, you would have the same social experience whether you dined in QG or Britannia, except that in Britannia you would pay significantly less for it.
Yes. Excellent point and very true.
I think Britannia dinning is a great experience in the tradition of
The transatlantic Ocean lines.
Perfect for singles
-
They are both well established and tradtion
In the Ocean liner Industry
Hal has a lot more ships than Cunard
And offer very interesting and exotic cruises
Hal also does Transatlantic voyages
Hal is not big on the World cruises as
Cunard
As far as formal wear, Hal is formal
But not as regimented as Cunard
Getting back for a moment to "Where is QM2?": she's a half day out of Port Louis, Mauritius, and eight days from Fremantle (the port for Perth), Australia. I envy the passengers all those glorious sea days. It's just a pity that she'll be strolling at 20 knots instead of sprinting at 25+.
You know, I'd pay a couple of hundred dollars surcharge for a five day crossing. Would anyone else?
What's the rush ? The Ocean liners did 5
Day crossing in the day when schedules had to be met.
I enjoy the transatlantic sea days, enough to have
Back to back , and would mean 14 days at sea. -
I don't remember ever seeing Al Jazeera news on any Cunard ship? I also find they show a broader range of news stories than the big US and UK networks.
Aljazeera was shown on the Qm2. I would watch it in the am
Although I'm not one to watch TV when sailing.
Last year on a crossing , it was gone.
Fox News is very prominent on the Cunard network
I agree that Aljazeera shows a broader range of news. I remember watching a story about the wild life and global warming in Northern parts of Europe.
Variety is always a good option
The July 6th EB crossing (M411/A/B) doesn't turn around in Southampton (or even Hamburg) and return to New York, as it would in a "back to back" but continues to Hamburg, Norway and Hamburg again (as I read the schedule).
The next WB crossing is on July 19th from Hamburg (July 21st from Southampton).
This is not "B2B" transatlantic crossings.
Something similar applies to the October 28th crossing (M425/A/B) (and with variations, several others).
At least, that is how I read the schedule.
.
Yes I see. When I saw the chart, i thought I saw
A back to back. It may be the format of the chart
That is misleading. -
I was told that Aljazeera (media) will no longer
Be shown on the QM2 . I know Fox is shown, as BBC
And Mnbc , though mid Atlantic. The signal lost,
I enjoyed watching Aljazeera on board and thought
It made a balance on the media shown
I don't know why it was cut?

There are 2 back yo back transatlantic from NY
In July 6. And in October
Thanks -
And it's warm there: 27C / 81F.
And it's warm in Puerto Rico , 86 f
And not half way around the world. -
QM2 is on her way to Mauritius and actually off the coast of Madagascar!
:)
Now that sounds NICE :) -
Queen Mary is in Long Beach.
Thanks for reminding me that the R.M.S. Queen Mary
And the R.M.S.Queen Mary 2 are two ships
I wouldn't be sailing on anytime soon :D -
The S/S Getaway (NCL ) is NY for the Super Bowl .
The S/S Breakaway & S/S Getaway sail From New York City
Together from NY to Sunny Caribbean :)
Very good for New York .
Where is QM? -
If Only that was true, sadly along way from the truth a long way
I can say from my experience on Cunard
That I have meet respectful , with class,
Interesting.
Also when I sail, I leave my"baggage at home":D

Having cruised many times on Celebrity, Azamara, Princess, and Holland America, my husband and I are now thinking of taking a Transatlantic cruise on the Queen Victoria. I have just read some of the recent threads and have been struck by what I am interpreting as snobbery. My husband has a tux, and before we retired we were at many black tie charity functions. We seem to be beyond that now and, although, we dress smartly--suit and blazer for my husband, and dressy outfits for me, we do not want the hassle of hauling formal evening wear around the globe or renting a tux for my husband. So, will we find Cunard too stiff and snobby or are there less pretentious people on board?
You know when people have "class" , it means they dress well, have manners,
Are respectful , "sure of them selves"
And they are "Cunarders"
Welcome on board
-
Brigitte, Yup.
I believe Princess uses the term "priority reservations" available to passengers booking suites, and it extends not only to the restaurants, but also to other venues/activities on board. See http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/ships/PrincessSuite_eFlyer.pdf
Anyway, my point was that what some people (not you) consider a snobby, pretentious "class system" on Cunard might want to take a closer look at what happens on other cruise lines before they poke sticks at Cunard and its passengers. I'm a rower, not a cheerleader, but facts are facts. -S.
P.S. Just to add that I'm not dissing Princess. We booked a suite on Princess Caribbean once, and enjoyed most of our meals served en-suite. The food and the service were excellent. Can't say enough good things about the service we received from very nice, thoughtful people.
Yes Salacia ,your are right about that. There are are other cruise lines have an upper class .
On my last cruise to the Caribbean on NCL, Breakaway
I sailed in the Haven, which is a private suite section.
Private sun deck, private pool and dinning Room.
Very nice , but is it a caste system? Not really, since one pays for this
Type of accommodation , it is NOT Inherited . LOL:)
Back-to-backs originating in New York are very rare - 1 per year, maybe 2 at most.
None! There is one 28 day rt from New York
In May 2014 : it goes to Hamburg & Southampton twice and around
Norway -
Thank you, Pepper, and the very same to you.
Paul
P.S. I also love that QM2 has two completely independent power plants: the four diesels way low in the hull that can generate 67.2 MW and the two turbines on Deck 12 that can generate 50 MW. She could conceivably lose all power because of a catastrophic failure in the electrical distribution system, but probably never because of engine room problems.
That is comforting to know.
grgrgr no no - never ever, not in reality
:D
. "The Cunarder" Jan.2014
Has some nice future voyages in 2014 &2015 for the QM2
The Queen Elizabeth is a beautiful ship with some
Nice cruises.
Still waiting for some Cunard cruises to
Bermuda & Nassau -
I like the beautiful Britannia Dinning Room.
The aft decks , reminiscent of
Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Commodore
The way the Qm2 sails the seas.
Where is QM2?
in Cunard Line
Posted
Salacia. I never recalled arriving a day earlier
On the QM2 or any ship, unless there is a problem
With ship.
I also have never heard of an ocean liner
Arriving a day earlier due to favorable winds.
A jet liner maybe
Also Cunard has to pay those port fees
Something's afoot:cool:
