  1. My wife is a Marriott member because of all her business travel so I will look into the Marriott first.
  2. The only way I know of is to manually do a google search. You will have to know when and where the total solar eclipses will be occurring to aid in your search. For the Apr 8 2024 eclipse, Holland America and Princess are both sending two cruise ships each to see it. There may be some charters doing it, too. After 2024, the next total solar eclipse to watch for potential cruises is Aug 12 2026.
  3. You are welcome. Below are the specific cabin categories eligible for an upgrade. It sounds like the upgrade from A2 to A1 is worth quite a lot for your sailing. If you look at Constellation's deck plan on Celebrity's website, I believe there is an error on how the classify the AQ cabins on Deck 9 for the "Beginning on Apr 23" version. It shows as A1. I am pretty sure it is supposed to be A2.
  4. @cbfb, I maybe confused. I was going to point out that as a Captains Club member you should be able to get a free upgrade from A2 to A1 (I am not confused about that part). However I thought the Deck 9 AquaClass cabins were A2 and the ones on Deck 11 are A1. But when I look at Celebrity's deck plans, they show Deck 9 AquaClass as A1 (starting Apr 25)?
  5. We had the same 14 night itinerary but it was to occur over Christmas 2020 and NYE. We are scheduled to do the 12 night version on Solstice for Christmas 2023 and NYE.
  6. Nice review and photos. Thanks for posting. We were supposed to be on Millennium (Asia) in 2020 but Covid cancelled it.
  7. We have sailed out of Miami twice and both times we stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis. It's a very nice hotel, but for our cruise (Summit) leaving out of Miami in April 2024, I am interested in booking a hotel room with a great view of the cruise port. Right now from my limited research, it looks like the Intercontinental is a good candidate. I would like to hear some other suggestions. Don't worry about price point (let me worry about that). Thank you. David Celebrity Eclipse at the Port of Miami viewed from JW Marriott Marquis, Jan 5 2016
  8. I checked all 3 of my upcoming sailings (2023, 2024, 2025) and none of them list multiple devices as an option to purchase.
  9. Depending on the location and length of the Christmas cruise (e.g. 7 night Caribbean cruise out of Florida), you should have a lot of families on board that will have kids the same age as your daughter to socialize with.
  10. There were no repeating evening theater shows during our 15 night Transatlantic on Constellation last October. Then again, there were no room service charges either..... They did fill in the other nights with comedians, magicians (pictured), and the lighter entertainment as you put it. The magician on our cruise, Adam Heppenstall, did several different performances during our sailing.
  11. That would be my reaction as well.
  12. There are a lot of good private touring companies that you can hire that will pick you up at the pier, take you to Rome, and have you back before the ship sails.
  13. Yes, the kids club (aka Camp At Sea) is open even if there are only a few kids. Sometimes age groups are consolidated, but the kids club goes on. We just finished a 15 night Transatlantic in late Oct - early Nov on Constellation. There were 8 kids on our ship. The kids club was in full operation with their 4 counselors.
  14. @taylortime05, I presume you are asking for Celebrity ideas. However in case your mind is open to other cruise lines, I would also recommend this unique Emerald Princess cruise: Apr 4 2024, 15 night Panama Canal (Los Angeles to Ft Lauderdale) with Total Solar Eclipse Princess recently altered the itinerary to allow Emerald Princess to view the total solar eclipse (Apr 8 2024) at sea off the coast of Mexico near Mazatlan. The ship should be able to position itself under a clear spot in the skies (if there are clouds) to view over 4 minutes of totality. We have seen one total eclipse at sea (1991) and on land (2017) and I can tell you that it is a lot easier to watch it at sea (no car traffic, worrying about being clouded out, etc). It is a sight to behold. Combined with a full canal transit, this cruise takes care of two things that may be on your bucket list. Aug 21, 2017 total solar eclipse, Paducah KY
  15. Patty, Our South America cruise did not include Antarctica (nor the Falkland Islands). So I cannot help you. I can say that on the South America cruise (without Antarctica), you can see penguins up close and personal. There are a couple of ports that provide the opportunity. For us, it was when Infinity called on Punta Arenas. There is a shorex that takes you to Isla Magdalena which is a Chilean national park island devoted to the Magellanic penguin. However they are different than the classic Emperor penguin that is endemic to Antarctica. David
  16. Our first exotic cruise after having done the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mediterranean was a South American cruise. We were on a 15 night sailing from Valparaiso, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina. One of the many highlights was Cape Horn--the southern tip of South America. The sailing involves a large change in latitude which means you will experience warm and cold weather with corresponding changes in scenery including beaches, glaciers and penguins. Celebrity South America Sailings in 2024 Infinity cruising the Beagle Channel on her way to Ushuaia, Argentina, Dec 2016. Albatross and Cape Horn, Jan 1 2017. La Mano at Punta del Este, Uruguay, Jan 2017.
  17. Once very nice thing about this very long cruise--no time zone changes! But it is impressive how late in the evening it stays bright outside (when you get closer to Cape Horn). We wish you a smooth sailing with clear skies.
  18. We are on a Singapore to Hong Kong cruise in December (Solstice). We booked a starboard balcony out of habit because it keeps us away from the port side of the ship where smoking is allowed in certain public outdoor areas (my wife gets migraines from cigarette smoke exposure). View-wise I would think that the port side is better. As the ship travels north, the coast (when it is visible) will be on that side of the ship. Also the port side gets the view of the sun set on most days. As far as evaluating which side of the ship is best when it comes to pulling into or out of port, I don't know. Either way, we are very much looking forward to this cruise and hoping--after 3 COVID cancellations--that this cruise actually sails this time!
  19. The classic method of decanting involves using a candle as the source of illumination (supposedly it provides just the right brightness). There is no way I would use a candle because I would end up burning my hand or setting the house (or cruise ship) on fire.
  20. Yes, you carry all your luggage with you when you get off the ship.
  21. That is news to me. I didn't realize that some of the Sky Suites were bipolar.
  22. At the Lawn Club Grill, you are given the option to make your own flatbread. Most passengers that I observed at the restaurant preferred to have it made for them. Our son decided to give it a try--something for you to consider, @padgman1
  23. That was for my daughter (who is pictured), I think my wife helped her. On the other hand, I ordered one and I finished it myself (shhhhhhhh!)
