  1. I agree. This solves one problem where at least the cabin you want is available because you are able to choose it during booking. However I don't know if there is a requirement that the cabin category below it (which the price would be based on) has to be available in order to get the free upgrade. Maybe someone can comment about that from their experience.
  2. If all of life's answers could come to us that easily......
  3. You have to ask for the upgrade at the time of booking. It is a manual process done through your TA or Celebrity. It is not automatically applied when you book on line even if you supply your Captains Club number during the booking process. So be sure to confirm that the upgrade was applied (by looking at your cabin price). Note that the upgrades are limited to certain cabin categories. Suites are excluded altogether from this. However within a super-category (e.g. Aqua Class, Concierge Class, Veranda, Outside, and Inside, to name 5 super-categories), you can get the free one category upgrade--essentially you are getting the cabin you booked for the price of a cabin one category below it. Here is a table showing the specific cabin categories that are upgradeable for free as a Captains Club benefit (link to the entire flyer) It is a bit busy because Celebrity is in the middle of recategorizing their cabins so the upgrade tables are shown before and after the recategorization. The tables are split into ship series (aka ship classes) because the category nomenclature is a bit different between the two. So according to the table, you can get a V1 cabin (veranda) for the price of a V2 on a Millennium or Solstice class ship. As you can see, the free upgrades don't allow you to go from an outside cabin to a veranda cabin (one super-category into the next). And yes, the upgrade works--again you have to make sure that you ask for it. For my last cruise I booked (17 night Transpacific in 2025), my TA remembered the free upgrade and saved me $240.
  4. This is what @hrhdhd was referring to (Oct 22 2022 Constellation). The bars excluded from the Elite Happy Hour are declared. The other Elite benefits are listed on the bottom half of this sheet which is not shown.
  5. It is true if the word "free" is not in there. I am allowed to do as much self service laundry as I want?
  6. I figured. I just wanted to point out that everyone on Princess get unlimited laundry!
  7. Constellation is starting its sail away from Key West. https://www.keywestharborwebcam.com/
  8. Years ago, Celebrity used to recommend just half the adult gratuity rate for each kid (defined as under 12 yrs old, I think) in a cabin as long as they were booked as the 3rd/4th passenger. This would invariably generate a lot of responses on this board on whether that was proportionally correct. On top of that, infants (less than 2 yrs old) used to cruise for free on Celebrity but that was in the 90's. You still had to pay taxes and fees. Our son cruised that way on the brand new Century as a 7 month old. That "free" cruise also counted towards his Captains Club Elite status.

  10. Samantha, I hope you and Pierre have a safe & awesome cruise, too!!
  11. We took this cruise (eastbound) in 2016 and it remains one of the family favorites. I hope you enjoy it.
  12. Paying more for less is the new normal. You can argue that this has been the norm for some time, however it is currently much more severe.
  13. This change (deposit automatically goes up if you transfer the booking to a TA) is not mentioned in the documentation currently posted on Celebrity's trade website: https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/FCV_FAQsv7.pdf https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/2022_CruiseLater_TCCv2.pdf However the 8th question in the FAQ flyer does outline a scenario where the deposit requirements are higher in certain situations where the booking is transferred to group space (see below):
  14. The single report I read was that the reduction in housekeeping frequency has so far been implemented to a limited number of ships. It appears to be a phased in approach. This was published by Royal Caribbean Blog on Feb 28:
  15. It does not include Celebrity. This was mentioned and discussed in a separate thread last week.
  16. I don't think I would want to spend 3 years in an inside or outside cabin. There are only a few balconies and probably wouldn't be available by the time we booked (in theory). The real deal breaker is that I doubt we would be able to bring our dog.
  17. We did make time during our only TA late last year to attend more onboard events such as the ones mentioned earlier. We went ahead and purchased the Behind the Scenes tour for one of the many sea days which I thought was worth doing. Usually my wife and I keep to ourselves. But during the TA we made time to go out and meet people on our roll call for drinks, lunch, etc. Finally, we spent a lot more time relaxing out on our balcony watching the ship's wake. Constellation, North Atlantic Ocean, Nov 1 2022
  18. All I can say is that I have used to travel to Amsterdam on business quite frequently and never bothered with getting cash (Euros). Everything was credit card and mobile pay friendly. No experience with the UK though which is your real question.
  19. I wonder how well Celebrity will be tracking all these future cruise reservations with these varying deadlines. I would hate to have someone try to execute their future cruise option only to find out that Celebrity had cancelled it because they applied the wrong (shorter) deadline. If it did occur, it should be easy to reverse (or re-apply) conceptually, but reality may be very different.
  20. Here is a Celebrity flyer that compares the onboard booking options among other cruise lines: link. Most of it is reproduced in the screen shot below:
  21. You should be able to tap or click on the embedded images and magnify it to read the fine print at the bottom. It'll be a bit blurry, but I believe it's readable.
  22. Here are the forms so you can judge for yourself for what was distributed during our Constellation sailing. I am not under the impression that these are the current terms, but I presume anyone on our cruise that booked under this would have the full 18 months. I think we had one person on our roll call who purchased six of them. Like I said, I purchased two. I wish had bought three as we used both of them one month after we got off Constellation when the new season's sailings were released.
  23. The deadline to select a cruise for the pick later option (aka open booking) has moved around a lot of late. During our recent Oct Constellation TA, I was surprised to see that the form listed it as 18 months. We ended up "purchasing" two while on board.
